Someone Asked Twitter To Name A Badder B*tch Than Taylor Swift, Probably Did Not Expect A Reaction Like This
1.5Mviews
Taylor Swift is trying to rebrand herself from an "innocent girl who cries while writing love songs" to a "heartless tyrant who sits on a golden throne surrounded by snakes," but the internet isn't buying it. When @xnulz posted a still from Swift's music video "Look What You Made Me Do," asking people to "Name a badder bitch than Taylor Swift," they started an unstoppable storm of stories celebrating strong women throughout history.
From determined politicians and activists to artists and performers, these women have been pushing society to change for the better long before Taylor Swift dropped her album Reputation. Bored Panda has compiled some of the most hilarious and inspirational replies to the challenge. Scroll down to check out the responses, upvote your favorites and let us know if you agree with the Internet on this one in the comments.

If one lived through WW1 and WW2 .. he/she easily outlived billion+ people!
What is fucked up is that I was born and raised in Poland but never heard of her untill now. All the war heroes we talked about in school were men.
Bitva za Sevastopol, or Battle for Sevastopol is a movie about her. Great woman.
heck yeah!! you know what a badas biatch this makes her?! First of all to be Indonesia's Minister, second to be incorrupt enough not to take bribe from the illegal fishing boat and sink them instead unlikely many of our politicians who'd done complete opposite. Third, everything else that she has done in her position #badderthantaylor
As an Irish woman I completely agree with you Muiscon, Mary Robinson made her name by campaigning tirelessly in the 70s for women's rights and in the 80s for the right to abortion. I know this as a fact because my mother worked with her. We have had referenda about abortion. And the politicians have done their job by putting it forward. I am ashamed to say no one is to blame but the voters of Ireland. It was the voters of Ireland that said no.
this is second time she's mentioned on this list but this woman deserves to mentioned in a lot of other places
To this day the Army gives out the Molly Pitcher award to spouses for volunteer service to the Armed Forces.
Ok I mentioned this earlier but here's what Grace did in part...Grace O'Malley an Irish Piratess who held off the English, got Queen Elizabeth to side with her against the Queen's own captain, robbed and stole many English ships with her men, married twice, taking her second husband's fort as collateral as she declared divorce to him. Had a lover- a Spanish sailor from the Armada when it broke apart on the Irish shores, had a child on board ship and then got up and led her men to victory when they were losing as she was giving birth. She died peacefully at a late age too :)
The only thing about Taylor Swift that's bad is her music.
Boom.
Tss. You forgot the cymbal after that drum pop there.
Well, that's not her ONLY thing. The way she treats media attention is also god-awful. Like she's trying to play the victim a lot or something?
Oh shit! Lol. Facts
Couldn't have said it better myself.
Ha ha haaa! Taylor is gonna need some cream for that burn!!!
Burn Level = Molotov Cocktail
Woahhhhhhh BURNNNNN
For every kick ass woman listed here there is at least another million more that the rest of can't begin to emulate. Nothing personal against Ms. Swift but bitch, please.
That's a really odd comment...
Love this. It may come from me not being an American but I'm really tired of all these superlatives being used so often on so little things. Plus what a great list of really bad ass women this turned into!
What's tough about Taylor Swift? She put on eyeliner I guess?
I doubt she even put in on by her self.
Good point. Celebrities trying to be cool when they're clearly past their time is really annoying.
My Great Grandma Bette. Her family moved to the US from England when she was a little girl. She ran away from home at 12 to escape her abusive, alcoholic father. She worked as a chamber maid until she married my Great Grandad. She bought their first house in cash; she savedvery cent she had every earned. She and her husband attended and graduated seminary together, even though she never graduated high school. When my Great Grandad went to work on the railroads, she learned how shoot, and wore a .45 on her apron to protect herself and two daughters from transients who'd ride the rails. Among my Great Grandma's many colorful stories, she once fought off two muggers with a hat pin. ❤️
I loved reading about all these amazing women. The women today face different battles (thank goodness) but without those in history we would be in a very different situation. I'm sure Taylor has had her own battles but to me, she's just a performer. There are everyday heroes out there that face a lot more than her. So thank your EMT's, nurses, doctors, police, and firefighters (the list could go on) who all include women in their ranks. I believe today's society is very backwards.
Where is Emiline Pankhurst and her Suffragettes, she got us the vote!!
true and guess who too all those male voters got you the vote since they voted for women to have the rights to vote cuz women couldnt vote to vote
Sybil Ludington. She did the same thing as Paul Revere but at 15. She also completed her mission, had a giant stick for knocking on the windows of the men from her fathers militia she was trying to get together. She also was the oldest of I think 4+ kids. She was pretty cool but no one ever really talks about her
Whatever you think of Taylor Swift this list is Badass. I think few of these stories could be made into films, the tank women and the polish ballerina that killed Nazis, the French Pirate would make an morally ambiguous but dramatic film and many others.
Taylor Swift makes me ashamed of my generation. These women mentioned make me proud of my gender.
Conclusion: Everyone is more badass that T Swift
*than dam u autocorrect 😒
Twitter is being a little too extra. I had great fun reading about such strong women but they shouldn't be compared with a everyday popstar. Their impact they made has much more worth than a girl who sings about high-school relationships. It's an insult that they're being compared.
I think you may have missed the point here.
That's exactly the point. A girl who sings about high school relationships is calling herself a badass bitch. People are going Bitch Please!!
To be fair, she's not calling herself badass, it's a fan.
I'm inspired by all of these incredible stories. Tears in my eyes. Our culture rewards all these celebrities with attention and accollades... we miss the REAL stories of people whose footsteps are worth following. I will never forget my mom... she never escaped anything perilous other than the depression, but she lived her story with grace and that's bad-ass enough for me. xoxo
I am not native english speaker, so could someone explain to me, why is there not a word "worse" instead of "badder"?
badder isn't really a word, but in this context it's used to imply toughness. Name a "tougher" woman than Taylor Swift.
thank you :)
Can I add my grandma? She is half he's half native American. Her father's family left Germany during ww2 and he met my great grandmother who was native. They had 9 kid's my grandma being the oldest. They lived on an Indian reservation but my gran was treated as an outsider cause she was only half native. They all shared 1 bed and had practically nothing. She also hiked the whole Appalachian trail in her 50s and now travels the world by herself!! She's amazing!
She is half jew half native american**
Five names come to mind without thinking: Elenor Roosevelt, Harriet Tubman, Susan B. Anthony, Elizabeth Stanton & Carrie Nation. I'm sure this list could go on and on to the point that it ends with the question: "Taylor...who?"
'Nutella' is definitely a b*tch for using the word 'badder'...
We do use superlatives, I'm afraid . These women do deserve recognition as role models which are sadly lacking , with a few exceptions, today.
I wish I could meet all of these strong and brave women
Nancy Wake, the White Mouse, an Australian secret agent working in France, in WWII. Truly amazing! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nancy_Wake
The women’s shelter for abused women I was in years ago with a woman named Tuesday a very tough young woman on staff who was ready to do battle with any angry violent husband who showed up..she was fierce. ..Swift? Laughable
I actually got up today..
That makes you "badder ass" than TS!
There was this bad ass bitch that once saved a pig from being killed, her name was Charlotte, she taught millions of kids to read and feel compassion for animals.
My sister, in her 80's, who flew out of LAX one week after 9/11 to come and visit me in Canada. When asked why she would do such a foolish thing, her response was "I lived through 6 years of war in England and no one will make me afraid again. Once you change your life, they've won." And my friend, Desiree, fighting her sixth or seventh cancer, this one ultimately terminal, with courage, optimism and a give-em-hell attitude. They are the badass bitches!
Sorry I guess I missed this part. What has Taylor done?
my Nana, she bore and raised 11 kids, her husband a raping, beating alcoholic, she survived him by far, got all the little ones big all by herself and is a great great grandmother now. She has 11 children now, 18 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. She is the well deserving center of a family who family tree looks more like a hedge :o)
Taylor swift is a stuck up diva
Joan Of Arc Elizabeth I Indria Gandhi Sojourner Truth Jane Goodall Mother Teresa Princess Diana Dian Fossey Eva Peron Helen Keller Rosa Parks Anne Frank Debbie Harry Florence Nightingale Susan Anthony Malala Yousafzai Terri Irwin Emmeline Pankhurst Marie Curie
In 1905, my grandmother was sent from Ukraine to Cleveland, Ohio where she had cousins, because her parents feared she would be raped and killed by the Cossacks. She was 13 and spoke no English. She also took her sister and cousin with her who were 8 and 5 respectively. No cell phone. No telephones. No way to communicate. Unimaginable today.
My grandmother. She went legally blind at 75, survived bowel cancer, has lost her beloved siblings to old age and had to watch her childhood home burn to the ground. She's still cheerful at 85.
My great-x grandmother Lorree on the frontier, Ohio, about 1830. A tree fell and crushed a man's leg. It had to be amputated, but the doctor fainted. Lorree took the saw and removed the leg very carefully. The man survived and the doctor found another career. She was as tough as nails, but never used eyeliner, and if you want to call her a "b*tch," it'd better not be within the hearing of any of her descendants.
How about a woman who crossed the Atlantic solo? In a rowboat? Look her up, she's Canadian.
Literally anyone. Anyone is a "badder bitch" than Taylor Swift.
Why would she even WANT the image of "bad bitch" ?? I thought people liked Taylor Swift because she's refreshingly nice, very pretty, feminine. Maybe she needs to understand WHY people have liked her just fine up until now. I hate to see her image devolve into... {shudder} Miley Cyrus.
I saved a ton of money by switching to..................a bicycle
So many more inspirational and much better women on here than what she ever would be. What happened to the sweet girl she used to be like every other celebrity I'll throw a million dollars at you if you show the world your tits. If she was a strong woman she wouldn't have let the money change her. She's impressionable week and apparently very stupid like the rest of the pop stars she's turned into it nowadays Britney Spears. If that's what we're supposed to consider the strength of women are gender is doomed.
Not denying all the mentioned women are super amazing. Because they are! But I think everyone on twitter missed the actual point of the question tbh. He meant bad as in a heartless nasty bitch...someone like Ilse Koch or Irma Grese would be more "badder" imo. All the people mentioned were inspirational, amazing, "good" heroic women! Not "bad" in any sense whatsoever.
I can never take anything away from these amazing women who are mentioned in the previous comments. With that said at a minimum every single wife, mom, daughter and girlfriend who had to kiss/hug their serviceman goodbye as they leave for war and then sit and wait for a phone call, text message, FaceTime, etc. for months and months. Who hug their babies and have to be momma and daddy through all their f the holidays, family get togethers, girls night out, staying up with sick babies, taking vacations, homework alone....I can go on and on. Those women make Taylor Swift mediocre at best. They ask for nothing. They proudly stand up for their rights and they’re proud of the man they support. Sorry TS, get a new gig or hey, start helping these families by being the role model you know you should be.
I would love to see the conversation shift away from the use of the word "bad ass". The stories shared here are of courageous, brave, determined, soulful women. I would rather encourage my daughter to develop these values than become a 'bad ass'. I am just tired of the over use of this word. Broccoli is bad ass. I agree with the ridiculous branding of Taylor Swift. It is a marketing formula that takes advantage of our celebrity obsessed culture.
My grandmother was more badass than Taylor Swift. She raised 11 children by herself after a house fire took her husband and oldest son during a time when food was harder to come by and clothes were home made. Every day she cooked for 12. She baked enough bread for 12. She peeled potatoes for 12. She cooked holiday dinners for 12. She washed clothes for 12. She grew food for 12. All this in the no mans land of North Dakota. My grandma was more badass(no question about it)- - but then, so is my grand niece who is 3 years old and the cutest thing I have ever seen.
Oh fuck..Taylor Swift....the world is doomed. I can think of many woman who Taylor Swift isn't fit to clean their shoes, just off the top of my head i will come up with many woman who really are bad bitches (nasty word). Joan Of Arc Elizabeth I Indria Gandhi Sojourner Truth Jane Goodall Mother Teresa Princess Diana Dian Fossey Eva Peron Helen Keller Rosa Parks Anne Frank Debbie Harry Florence Nightingale Susan Anthony Malala Yousafzai Terri Irwin Emmeline Pankhurst Marie Curie ...the list goes on.
Lots of great examples here, my own grandmother who is Italian was a little girl when the Nazis stormed through her village, she still hears the sounds of the boots marching through in her dreams occasionally, they hid in a dirty basement for a few weeks, she looked after her 4 younger siblings as mum was very ill and dad had passed away before they escaped and were rescued by my grandad (British soldier) and brought them back over here, very inspirational stories from strong brave women who went through things we cant even comprehend. Taylor Swift makes shitty songs about shitty breakups with shitty men and really is the opposite of a bad bitch, fuck her.
This just shows that people like Taylor Swift need a lot more than money, fans and music to actually be a hero. She's nothing compared to these heros.
As pretty as taylor is, she is not even remotely a badass bitch
Violet Jessop who was on the Olympic when it was hit by a Royal Navy Destroyer. And on the Titanic when it hit an iceberg. And then on the Brittanic when it hit a mine and sank in the Greek isles.
Noemi Ban author of Sharing is Healing. Survived the holocaust and witnessed her mother, grandmother, twelve-year-old sister, and baby brother sent to the gas chambers. After surviving months in Auschwitz, she was sent to a work camp where she was put to work assembling bombs. She and her fellow prisoners risked their lives to sabotage the bombs, many of which did not detonate when they were dropped on England. When Noemi was freed from the camp she returned to her home in Hungary, reunited with her father, married, and had two boys. However, Hungary was under harsh communist rule, no Noemi and her family arranged to be smuggled out in a truckload of yarn. They came to America, where Noemi became an award-winning teacher. She is 94 years old and still travels around to local libraries and schools to share her experiences.
Constance Markiewicz, Rosa Parks, Emily Bronte, Eleanor of Aquitaine...
Any woman listed on the Rejected Princesses site.
Her "music" sux green donkey dicks!
She did a take on the amazing Stevie Nicks. Guess the young’uns have no idea who the Amazing and talented Stevie Nicks is and that’s a damn shame.
Wilma Rudolph kicked polio and scarlet fever's ass to win 3 gold medals in 1960
My good friend. She hasnt done much but she has helped a lot of her other friends through them being suicidal and bulllied and helps everyone no matter what.
Also she is 12
Arnold Schwarzenegger
They took the question way out of context!
I love all these amazing women being brought into the spotlight! I think it's amazing and needed... What I don't see is needed is to tear down another woman to somehow prove value and courage. Let's praise and cultivate courage, not pit one woman against another.
I am a forty-three year old woman with Spina Bifida , whose parents were told I belonged in an institution because I was *most likely* born blind, with a cognitive disability and unable to walk. Today, I walked at eighteen months of age , have endured more surgeries than I can count, received a Varsity letter in High School swim, graduated college with BOTH an AAS and BAS degrees , teach three, four, and five-year olds at church, educate the public on disability rights and public access for people with service dogs such as I have as my job, and work out at the local gym a few days a week. "I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength" Philippians 4:13 from the Holy Bible
Nobody mentioned Joan of arc
How about ...Every single woman living or dead on the face of this or any other planet, dimension or plane of existence ....except TS
What about Anne Frank. A young girl with a beautiful heart in a horrible situation. A true heroine and inspiration.
My sister beat breast cancer while having to deal with Lupus. That's badass.
My mom. Who holds a family of 6 plus 5 grand children on her back alone like atlas. Who no matter how many times you fuck up and hit rock bottom (and I mean really fuck up) will get on that floor with you until she encourages the fuck out of you to get up.and made out nothing but trust, love, empathy, compassion, forgiveness, and hopes and dreams despite how many times the world and people have rned her. Shed give you the shirt off her back, is smart as a whip, is logical and realistic but still takes chances on people, even the ones she knows she shouldn't because she believes in change. Shes glue that will hold everyone together and SHE is one bad ass bitch. Her wit, knowledge of the world, and overall understanding of people could rip you to shreds if you cross her, but she's even more bad ass for turning her cheek and saying nothing and always taught us to choose our battles wisely because some battles only spill blood lay waste to cities and with out a lesson being learned.
i dont know who she is so she couldnt be that bad ass.
i dont know who Taylor Swift is. So she cant be that bad ass.
celebrity wise, Oprah!
My mother had TB and spent 14 years from age 14 to 28 in a sanitarium waiting to die. She beat it and then had nine children. Don't go off on the number of kids please. She was Catholic and I am number nine.
Seems to miss the point. Swift is about persona, posture. Those others are all too real.
She is a waste of oxygen.
Every woman has her own story and struggles.. so does Taylor.. #respect
Some GREAT stories here! Thankyou to everyone participating!
literally anyone without the surname Kardashian is a badder bitch than her.
Taylor Swift is sad
No disrespect to Taylor Swift, but these woman are in a different universe. I got goose bumps reading their stories and trying to imagine their fear and courage.
I really think Taylor Swift is a poor role model and seemingly dishonest person. That said, tearing down one woman to uplift others is contradictory to who these other amazing women are. It’s petty and that’s never a good thing.
Taylor is not a bad ass bitch, just a spoiled little girl who no one cares about her political opinions.
Same in Brazil... that stupid singer Anitta was chosen "Woman Of The Year"... those bitches and their fans ar pathetic...
Same in Brazil... that singer Anitta was chosen "Woman Of The Year"... why those bitches and their fans are so pathetic???
I love Taylor and always have. She's talented, she writes her own songs, and she doesn't use her body or her looks to rise up. I never understood why people don't like her.
I actually got up today...
Sorry for the duplicate post, but I'm gonna go with me (against Taylor Swift, not anybody else on here, ya'll are heroes!). http://itoldyouiwassick.info/2017/11/27/abusive-relationship-survival-story/
Me. http://itoldyouiwassick.info/2017/11/27/abusive-relationship-survival-story/
1. referring to women as bitches---please if I am anything like my dog I am fantastic! other wise calling everyone a bitch, shows how low the original post went. 2. did you really think no one is badder than taylor swift? um no! 3. I learned something! Some of these women I have never heard of, and now I am going to tell the entire world!
Better than Taylor
Any mom at all
For all woman who read this, we are all badass bitch in our own way.
I never talked to my great grandma about ww2
Taylor Swift is bad asf and those girls during their time should have won gold medals, but life isn't fair, so there isn't medals for them
at least her MV brought up a nice thread of empowering stories about real female heros
Harriet Tubman, Rosa Parks, women of the Civil War, WWI and WWII, Suffragettes, Joan of Arc, Mother Teresa... I can name a hell of a lot more women more badass than Taylor Swift.
I was going to like this until you mentioned Mother Teresa. The woman was a monster.
This is a great thread, there are so many people out there that are clueless about the badasses and heroes in their own lives.
Love this, but I think that it's unfortunate that they had to frame it in a way that pins women against other women. I would love if it was "what women do you think are awesome" without even having to make a comparison or bring down other women...
Taylor didn't ask the question a fan did. So not sure why the hate for her.
In defense of T Swift, she doesn't live during war time, she lives now. The biggest battle most people face today is rising to the top of their field, and she has done that. Taylor does have the best producers, because she can afford them. She writes and performs all her own songs. She dominates in a male dominated field. She created a niche for herself. She has more net worth than 95% of the world's population. And she seems like a decent human being.
if all these people who claim their grandmothers escape Auschwitz is true then there no way 6 million died
friendly reminder that Taylor Swift never said she was better than any of these people. Not a fan of her's but I used to be, and the original post was just a throw-away comment a fan made. There's really no need to insult Taylor
From what I can gather by this collection, most of the things that can make you a bad bitch involve killing people in wars?

women 50yrs ago were tuff strong intelligent and often actual bad ass women even the average women who worked 10-16hrs a day takin care of children cleaning helping their husband and other family members women who actually were opressed and needed equality women in 2017 complain bout men spreading their legs(not forgetting we have balls) those 2017feminist love to critize the west(although 60%of the western colegge and university degrees go to women and women live 6yrs longer and are 3times less likely to end up homeless) but these same feminists do not dare to critize muslim countries where women(legally can be raped except in tunisia algeria(new law in 2017 prohibits rape)turkey lebanon albania kosovo and bosnia) those women are really opressed but since the opressor is not white or christian i guess its not as important as when western males take too much space in a subway
