Yep this is true. No one can earn a billion dollars by working, but you can earn a billion dollars by making money off of other people
Bezos' imperium is using every trick in the book and then some in order not to pay taxes basically anywhere! Amazon is forcing locally owned and operated shops to close down, often after having been functioning as de facto 'showrooms' where people check out the goods they want to buy before they order them on-line. IMHO Amazon should be forced to be broken up in smaller entities, it should be forced to pay its taxes in every country it operates, and until that happens: BOYCOTT!
Load More Replies...People believe this b******t? The only theft of your wages that occurs is taxation. Your boss earning more than you, even far more than you, is not stealing.
Ideas are not work. Billionaires have ideas that other people will work to create for them. They then get the money. The ideas are even extraordinary. You could have them but noone will give you money to pay people to realize it for you.
Load More Replies...Sorry, but I disagree. If you invent something or have a revolutionary idea, then you can indeed EARN a huge amount of money.
And no one would bother risking all their spare time and life savings on a business idea if there wasn't the possibility of it being all worth it in the end.
Load More Replies...No thanks! I'd rather have successful people in my country, than everyone be equally poor. No contest.
Load More Replies...People who are saying this is false, why then are the billionaire CEOs not paying their workers hundreds of thousands per year even though they can afford it? Because they want to stay billionaires. So no, you can't earn a billion dollars by working by yourself
Workers aren't paid that much for a lot of reasons. They don't do work that's worth hundreds of thousands per year, the quality of their work efforts are often not worth that much. Most workers call in sick periodically, not everyone works as hard as their co-workers. Many of them don't plan on staying there for a long time, they'd rather move on to something else/somewhere else. You don't need much skill or education to do most of the work when you are a low-level worker. And lastly, the low-level workers don't have as much on the line. Most don't own shares in the company, they didn't invest in the company, and so if it fails, they don't lose as much. A business folds, the owners may lose their homes and lots of their money, but employees just have to find another job.

Load More Replies...Soooooo Scary!! I'd swear that I just THOUGHT about an obscure thing and suddenly an ad came up.
I have had ads for things I only thought about also. Clearly that's a WHOLE LOT that the general public is not privy to.
Load More Replies...It's terrifying to search for something on the internet and then start seeing pop-ups advertising those items. Absolutely unsettling and terrifying.
I travel so much for work that I get vacation ads for where I live lol
I get REALLY pissed off when I buy something online and then get add's for the same bloody thing that I just bought...
Based on national reports, it's estimated that no less than 150 million people, or about 2 percent of the world's population, are homeless. However, about 1.6 billion, more than 20 percent of the world's population, may lack adequate housing. Report as of Jan 21, 2020
I see these things and wonder how the whole “don’t give money to a homeless person because they’ll just buy drugs” mentality got started. I’m not sure where this quote came from but I remembered it just now, “what you do with the money I give you says something about your personality, but wether or not I choose to help you out says something about my personality.” Isn’t it better to give someone the benefit of the doubt and accidentally give them drug/alcohol money than to let them keep starving because they might have gotten there by their own bad choices? I have a very specific memory of my mom asking me if I saw peanut butter anywhere when we were in a gas station on a road trip, and then buying some lunch meat, a loaf of bread and a few gatorades. When we left the gas station my mom started walking away from the car and over toward a man with a cardboard sign I couldn’t read, and giving him the bag and telling some sort of god loves you etc. speech. I still think of that day a lot
The bed vs the sleeping bag or the red dress and purse vs the red sleeping bag make beautifully depressing contrasts.
The Inhumans of Late Capitalism page (not to be confused with the Humans of Late Capitalism social media accounts which is a similar but entirely different horse entirely) has over 178.6k followers, all eagerly waiting for the next juicy post making fun of our dystopian everyday lives.
As many of you have probably realized by now, capitalism is far from a perfect system. But what’s the alternative? Does one even exist? Anyone who’s ever opened up a history book knows that communism isn’t an alternative—it’s just a more brutal dystopia that resulted in the deaths of millions of people. And don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.
However, things might not be as grim nowadays as we think. For instance, Paul Mason writes in The Guardian that we might be entering the postcapitalist era without even noticing it. The forces driving this are information technology, the rise of the sharing economy, and new ways of working. Mason’s point of view is refreshing because he paints a bright and sunny picture of the future, instead of one where we’re all doomed and fighting global warming, zombies, and the plague on all fronts.
I have sad news for you: in all likelihood all the stuff you put in a recycle bin will have its valuable materials like aluminum removed, and then the rest of it is thrown away with the garbage.
my school did this for years until students made a group to make the school actually eco friendly rather then pretending to be
This is happening daily in Canada. This is the educated and enlightened population of Canada! This is the sad truth of recycling in Canada. Not enough Canadians give a damn. I sure hope your country can boast a better recycling track record than Canada's. I am Canadian. I do recycle but sometimes wonder why I bother. sob
HA HA HA HA!!! The irony! "Dance like no-one is watching... so that we can laugh while watching you in the CCTV monitors!"

Why can't a ski resort set up a dorm or something for their staff? The tone of the note is really demoralizing and I would be looking somewhere else for a job.
You would think a place like this SHOULD plan for employees quarters!!! What in the actual f**k.
Mark needs to be fired for even suggesting this. I had a boss one time that expected me to continue working after accidentally burning two of my fingers in the fry vat at McDonalds. When he tried to say "Why are you leaving? Can't you work?" I said "Chris..go stick your hand in the oil vat and tell me if you feel like working afterwards or do you feel like going to the emergency room!!" He shut up and left me alone.
My husband was once a manager for a pizza joint the owner of which insisted stay open during a hurricane. The owner wouldn't let anybody leave. My husband refused to let any of his staff deliver pizzas and did it himself. We nearly lost him that night. A tree fell on his car and he suffered a head injury. The owner still didn't shut down the store until it lost power.
What kind of person orders food during a hurricane and expects it to be delivered...?!
Load More Replies...The problem is that these sorts of businesses rely on the simple fact that most of their employees don't know or understand the labor laws. In the US the majority of this is illegal and they could be fined a large sum of money if not shut down as well. No one is exempt from a State of Emergency. People need to educate themselves in the labor laws for federal, state, county and city.
Explain how “the majority of this is illegal”. It even states they are exempt from emergency shutdown. I’m not attacking; I am asking.

Load More Replies...According to Mason, information technology has reduced the need for work, blurred the “edges between work and free time,” and “loosened the relationship between work and wages.” The amount we have to work will further diminish as automation increases. But that’ll still take a while because our way of thinking has yet to catch up with the power of robotics.
They might be true for the USA, but not for a good part of the world, where people have rights.

Our bodies are marvels of biochemical complexities and it is NOT POSSIBLE to "detox" by using an (overpriced) magic potion for a while. Our bodies have organs that process toxins out of our bodies 24/7 and they are NOT in the least influenced by drinking tea or whatever. Our lungs, our livers, our kidneys and also our skin (the largest organ) are the heroes of our existence! Be kind to them. Limit the abuse your lifestyle choices may do to them. And then be kind to your wallet by avoiding every single thing labeled as "detox".
I have a friend who swears by these products. Detox teas are basically going to cause you to have diarrhea. How is that healthy?

The funniest thing about this is a ton of SOCIAL MEDIA INFLUENCERS make way more money than a lot of jobs and they don't have to work a 9-5. They can lay in bed all day if the want.
Mason also states that we’re “seeing the spontaneous rise of collaborative production: goods, services, and organizations are appearing that no longer respond to the dictates of the market and the managerial hierarchy. The biggest information product in the world—Wikipedia—is made by volunteers for free, abolishing the encyclopedia business and depriving the advertising industry of an estimated $3bn a year in revenue.”
In other words, we’re seeing various new forms of work, ownership, and businesses that will (in the long run) change our society as we know it. But whether or not it’ll be a postcapitalist society or something else entirely, we’ll find out in a few decades.
well my dude youtube is blocked in china so thats why they want to be astronauts

If you look up the actual poll that was conducted, this graphic is wildly misleading. At least part of the questionnaire was in multiple-choice format (not sure about this speicific question), and the entire thing was in partnership with a NASA camp scholarship. So it's not like these kids were asked straight up "What do you want to be when you grow up" and these were the results. "The survey also revealed that today’s children are three times more likely to aspire to be a YouTuber (29%) than an Astronaut (11%). When asked ‘which … careers are part of space exploration?’ Astronaut was the most chosen answer (90%), followed by Engineer (58%) and Computer Programmer (52%). Only seven percent of children see a role for a Farmer/Gardener in the space program, an indication that kids may not realize all of the different jobs required to support space travel." source: theharrispoll dot com
*in partnership with Scholastic to send kids to a NASA space camp on scholarship. Either way though the entire thing was based around space exploration and astronauts. Not just a random survey of children's life goals.
Load More Replies...People saying being a youtuber is not realistic !? And you reckon being an astronaut is???
I’m a 12 year old American and I want to be A forensic scientist
youtubers/vloggers may not be as bad as you think, a lot of them raised millions of dollars for the Austraila bushfires. Lots of vloggers/youtubers have channels about saving wildlife. They also give homeless people houses and food, so they can live without wondering where their next meal is coming from. Lots of them cut off their hair for kids with cancer. They make money by having fun and helping animals and people, so why rain on their parade. Please don't be so quick to judge.
No one's judging youtubers here, but it's just not a realistic career goal for children to have. Very few people can become successful youtubers, the competition is rough and your only plan in life shouldn't be to become a youtuber. That doesn't mean you shouldn't have it as a goal or a dream that you work on, but you should also invest in a more stable career as a backup
Load More Replies...Both are fanciful to be honest. Only good thing about the "astronaut" option is, hopefully, the kid is willing to work hard.
I'm more encouraged that behind the dream is the need to be in one or more STEM fields to even qualify for the training. After that, you have to be in tip-top shape, you often have to be in your nation's military, or at least trained in aerospace flight. You're not just sitting in that chair. You have to know how to operate virtually everything on that ship so you can act as pilot, if other crew are injured or dead. The number of skills any one astronaut needs to know is--pardon the pun--astronomical. :-p It was one of my dreams, too: when I found out some of the requirements: mind blown. One MAJOR thing I couldn't do was the complicated math--innumeracy is a f*****g B***H to find work-arounds for. *sigh* Sciences not always needing mathematics? Good. Loved Bio. Loved the physical part of things (now, not so much). Couldn't get into the military: bad eyes & have asthma--so, washout. Done. No astronautics for me. Became an artist instead. :-p

Not necessarily coz there are vegans that owned leather items BEFORE they became vegan. My brother for example is vegan but owns a leather jacket and he still wears it because an animal died for it and ditching a perfectly usable jacket is essentially “wasting” the animal which is against the beliefs of most vegans. But he will not buy anything now that is leather.

Load More Replies...I don't think he'd fire an employee, but maybe deduct the reward from their wages. I've seen Walmart employees that lock themselves in the family bathroom for well over 30 minutes because they are texting friends. I once saw a guy at a grocery store that was standing around the corner from the entrance in a cart corral texting his buddies. He was there so long, customers had loaded in more carts around him. And then another time I was waiting for 20 minutes for an employee to exit a bathroom stall because she was on the phone with her friend gossiping about the guy her friend went out with. Too many employees are wasting time on personal phones instead of tending to customers and doing their job. Often times, bosses do this sort of thing because they've gotten multiple complaints about an employee that found their phone more important than their job. And let me clarify...these people were on the clock..not on breaks or lunches. That's when you should be checking your phone.
Do you know how much Walmart pays employees? There’s no incentive to give a damn.

Load More Replies...On one hand, since I’ve been in restaurants where some people just hang out, noisily, I can understand the motivation. On the other hand, fast food places historically colored their restaurant interiors with colors determined in psychological studies to irritate people. The intention was to make sure people eat and get OUT! When fast food started to get a negative cultural impression, they all changed their interiors to make them seem more “homey”. They don’t care about anything but profit and Wall Street share prices. This sign presents the policy in a less than friendly manner, and we are generally savvy enough a society to see the coldness and irony in this whole sign taken as one.
This is a sign I've seen a lot, not just at McDonald's, since I've managed small restaurants in a bigger city.. it's indeed intended for homeless customers only because their demeanor and scent often make others uncomfortable and hinder their experience. It's usually the closing manager (the low paid supervisors) who have to uncomfortably ask them to leave, which sometimes leads to needing to call the police when they don't. No one in the establishment enjoys these experiences...
That wouldn't work in small towns. McD's is often the morning meeting place for the retirees and veterans.
They do this in Seattle so homeless don't buy one order of fries and stay all sat
Hmm it's good to set boundaries for your kids en give them a sense of responsibility. But not in the way you are proposing mr Coach-dad wich sons and daughters are probably real sad en feel no self worth because you give them the feeling they are never good enough for your approval.
So at least where I grew up kids started sports really early on, like there was a five year old kid on the swim team going to practice with middle schoolers young, and it had it’s ups and downs. Ups, we made a lot of friends and had a lot of good experiences. Downs, everything that wasn’t related to sports got bumped down on the priority list. There was a girl in my scout troop who couldn’t support her friend at her MOM’S FUNERAL because she had a dance recital. I understand that that’s a big deal but if you get invited to a funeral by your scout sister that’s a big deal
Load More Replies...Being tough doesn't mean you can yell at a kid, ridicule them in front of others and destroy their self esteem. Being tough is being firm, teaching kids that things like disappointment and failure happen in life, teaching them to try their best and pushing them a little if you know they're not trying hard enough because they're insecure
Being tough on children is not equal to 'destroying their self esteem'. Maybe it does feel so if you are not used to boundaries, but this doesn't make the statement in above picture less true.
You seem to confuse "tough" with "clear".
Load More Replies...I love how everyone jumps to the "bubble wrap my kid" worst case scenario here. This sign doesn't mean that your kid is going to get yelled at, belittled, or beaten. I coach higher level hockey for young kids (9 - 12). The uncoachable thing is true, and I told all parents I will be tough on the kids. But this doesn't mean what everyone is suddenly jumping to and assuming. It means, that I am teaching a drill, or running a drill and one of the kids is not paying attention to the group, or fooling around in the corner, or bugging another kid. Then they will have to skate a lap or two before they can come back to the drill. If they are really bad or I am having real issues with them not listening to instructions then they will sit either a period or an entire game if needed. Guess what! This is also how it is in the real world. You don't want to do your job properly, or goof off during work hours, you are going to get sent home or fired. That's just the reality of it! Teach em now
I actually like this one. And it should be paired with the one for the parents that says "There are no scouts here, no scholarships will be handed out. The coach and umpires are all volunteers. It's just a game. So stay calm or you will be asked to leave."
There's nothing wrong with this, we can't keep giving kids participation ribbons. You have to learn that you're going to have to work and earn things.

Load More Replies...It does seem horrible and obnoxiously consumerist but it helps kids connect the idea that letters are part of words and that they represent things. It's not much different from a is for apple. (It always cracks me up that in alphabet books/games, they so often give K is for King and Q is for Queen. Now how, exactly are 2-3 year old American kids expected to know about the concept of a monarchy? Kangaroo would be a lot more sensible a choice for K. Or kite. For Q, how about a quarter? /rant)
What do you mean what do little kids know about the concept of a monarchy? Kids play "Castle" all the time and pretend to be kings, queens, princes, and princesses.

So, in parsing the note, apparently this McDonald's location has had more than a few employees quit after their tax refunds have come in, and the franchise owners must be tired of constantly looking for new employees. But who gets a huge tax refund from working at McDonald's, unless it's a manager claiming 0 exemptions and is making more that $60K? Who thinks a tax refund on a McDonald's crew person's wage will last more than 2-3 weeks if they quit? And if you quit a job, you don't get unemployment, either, at least not in the US. If there are enough people who've worked for that location that have quit because of "huge tax refunds", I would like to know what other job those people got!
These jobs don’t make careers. People can drop them at will because such businesses don’t give you a path forward. You work the abusive job when you need to, quit when you’re sick of it and have the funds to try something else, and then get another job at another s****y hellhole when that doesn’t work out. There is an endless supply of people forced to work, so the only problem for the business is a greedy corporate mindset, and a lazy manager, where they think employees ought to be consistent and reliable when the job itself isn’t doing s**t for them to live.
Load More Replies...We know many of you may be contemplating **** income taxes and may ****** Tax refunds don't last forever and you need a job when money runs out. You are important to us ***** absence please let us know. **** Please get with your store manager to *****
Well I agree with the second sentence in bold. Think before you act on wanting to work at McDonald’s
Well,, at least on paper it says, that the employees are important. And here in Germany, McD seems to be a good company to work for, if you can put up with the stresss of the job.
What's wrong with a handicapped delivery guy? A job is a job, he doesn't seem to mind.
I think the bigger irony here is the disabled guy delivering food to a majority of able bodied people who are just too lazy to get off their a*s and get it themselves.
A handicapped person with a job. Thats inclusion. When did that become a bad thing
A photo with no context purely intended to manipulate emotions. No one here has a clue, whatsoever, about who this person is, or what of his situation. So let’s just make what we will of it, invent a narrative by pulling it our of our a*s, and spin it to neatly fit our own political bias. And then downvote opposing spins that don’t align with our spin. Which is the whole point of this I guess :-)
I don't get this one. What is it trying to say? Handicap people shouldn't work? Or we're supposed to know our delivery guy is handicap and do something about it? Do what, exactly? Shame Uber and get him fired? I'm so confused. My handicap uncle was a slot machine repair man and would wheel around the casino with his tools in his lap. Is that somehow also a problem? He provided a service and made a living that allowed him to live independently for most his adult life.
This is straddling the legal requirements for inclusion and exploiting the need for livelihood.
There are govt workers who are blind and workers in wheel chairs
Load More Replies...Maybe you are, getting buried is so expensive nowadays that poor families can't afford it. There's a mortician on YouTube, Caitlin Doughty, who has interesting videos on why getting buried or cremated is so expensive and how cheaper options aren't permitted in a lot of western countries because then the funeral industry wouldn't make as much money
Load More Replies...This is not necessarily a bad thing. Funerals are so expensive and it could ease the financial burden on a grieving family.
You're right but I think that's why it's in here, because they're so expensive

Puccino's is well known for its often self-deprecating humour. From an advertising point of view it seems to be successful.
That's self promoting, not deprecating, that's the difference.

If you love work you will probably like it... that's how that works i think.
idk man...I love my brother but I don't like him at all....maybe this person will feel that way about work?
Load More Replies...This is such a late stage capitalism thing to think
Load More Replies...Wait, so even if you DON'T like work you'll LOVE it?!
My "dad-joke" in the elevator at work is: which floor do you live on... (law firm.. we are really more here than at home..)
People usually spend more hours at work than they do at home. This is just sad.
Reminds me of the place I worked where “Team!” was everywhere, even after the 60% downsizing the month after I was hired XD
It's so weird that we spend more time at work, around people we didn't choose, than at home around people we do. However, most of our self-help style stuff focuses on putting positive people in your life, like you have a choice.
There is nothing wrong with ordering water. Why waste calories on a drink?
Load More Replies...This is illegal in France. Every restaurant/bar/pub etc. must serve you a glass of tap water free of charge should you ask for it, even if you don't consume anything. Some do it reluctantly but they do it nonetheless.
In Canada, it became legal for restaurants to charge for tap water because of all the costs going into it. Cost of the wage of the person getting the water; the energy it takes to wash that glass after it's been used; AND we get charged for all the water we use based on a water meter.
Load More Replies...To me, serving anyone a glass of tap water for free with whatever they order is a mark of truly civilized manners. Even if what you ordered was a drink.
No joke. We were in Switzerland and got charged $4.00 a glass for tap water!
I thought it was illegal for a place that sells food to not offer free water. (In the US)
(I mean, I'm sure this place is not in the US, but responding to comments below)
Load More Replies...Is that Hungary? I went to this place in Eger, they got my order wrong (we just said the numbers in the menu, 8 and 10; they bring 8 and 9), argued (ended up bringing me the right food at least), messed up the order of the table nearby where the guy wanted ale and they brought him lager; in the end, the 20% tip was included in the bill. TIP SHOULD BE COMPLEMENTARY, NOT MANDATORY, especially when your service sucks.
Imagine the homeless having to sleep on a bench like this
And it's an anti-homeless bench, too. That's not an armrest, it's too small for that... it's just meant to make it harder to sleep there.
I never knew some benches were designed anti-homeless like that until slanted ones started popping up around my city, now most of them are slanted on an angle so you can just rest against it and can hardly sit, let alone lay down.
Load More Replies...I think the goal should be making sure that there are no homeless people by creating drug rehab or mentally ill treatment programs or programs that help people get back on their feet. Not making sure park benches are comfortable for the homeless.
they put that bar in the middle specifiacally to stop homeless people from sitting there
That bar in the middle is to prevent homeless people from sleeping on it.
The way a society treats its most vulnerable members says a lot about its character - or lack of it. Not all homeless people are bums or addicts.
Well, even without the ad, the bench would be the same so they may as well advertise.
I really hate seeing benches like this, there are some homeless that occupies in their because it's the only free place to sleep on but still it was not given to them. Most of them go away during the day and just return to sleep at night so why being so cruel if you can't help them why make them suffer more?
Attention: you are expendable. You aren't special. There are others just like you now have a great day!
That is exactly what I got out of this.
Load More Replies...Unfortunately, every bit of this is true. Alberta's in crisis and there is so much competition for every job, it's insane. The CAN replace you without a second thought, and probably by somebody better. The fact that they feel the need to showcase that, though, is alarming. There are clearly no OTHER reasons to be glad to work there.
Way to boost morale...I don't know if I would be dying to work for a company whose management isn't smart enough to know that this is a horrible way to increase productivity.
We all already know that we're expendable. That's WHY we're not happy with work. If you want us to love working for you, remind us that we're NOT expendable.
Hopefully, this person's significant other puts up a sign in their home expressing that the obnoxious one should feel grateful that they are in a relationship with them, and that they could be replaced at any time.
Except in one case, when they release you, you're happy. In the other case, when they release you, you're not.
Come on, that's just a stupid poster from some hipster dude who never worked in his life.. and surely never went to prison to write such BS!

This church looks like it needs restoration. Hopefully, the advertising is just temporary to raise money.
a coke for you, a christmas dinner for others (i don't know which german(?) city this is)
It's St Stephen's Cathedral In Vienna, Austria (der Stephansdom oder Steffl).
Load More Replies...Church is about money anyway. Always has been, nothing wrong her ... in fact, the stuff on the ad makes a lot more sense and even positive impact than any of the church's core Blabla ever did.
Not really, they both focus on worshiping the wrong thing.
Load More Replies...It can be cleaned without power washing - more effort, less harm.

Is that the Coke Cathedral? Reminds me of corporations taking over stadiums, here in the US, and renaming them "Verizon Center, Nike Field, Captiol One Arena, etc." In a decade or two, we will no longer have governments, but corporate states....
Load More Replies...Again... "A Coke for You... A Christmas Dinner for others..." Benevolent funds they might not otherwise get.
the ads on St. Stephen's is just on the restoration drapes... it's obnoxious but temporary.
hmmm, churches being sponsored by huge corporations...makes sense to me
Those look like ads on the scaffolds for the renovation. They will be gone with the scaffolds.
Welcome to The Church of Coke. Do you want light holy water, zero holy water or regular holy water with your prayers?
I wonder how many people worked overtime to make the mug, and the logo.
'muggin' off' or 'muggin' someone off' are terms used in the UK to denote being made a fool of by someone taking advantage of you. If you're called a 'muggy c*nt'', you're the one muggin' someone off. Clever branding on this companies part, especially if it's in the UK!
Load More Replies...WTF?? I'm thinking the mug designer left a message on his PC before heading out of the office at 11pm...
Maybe to you and me... but there are people that would lose their mind if their phone wasn't operating.
Load More Replies...Sorry to burst their bubble, but this is what Church, Work and Bars are for. The first saves your soul, the the next one earns you money and the last helps you spend the money and gives you stories for the confessional. Aka..the circle of life...lol.
So how the hell did human beings exist before smart phones and the internet then? Jeesh.
I grew up in the eighties and I don't remember remotely lacking any of those things.
That's just f***ed up you can get mates by talking.Have they ever heard of it
You can buy things that make you feel happy at the moment, buying happiness is a whole other level and not possible in my book.
that depends on what you spend the money on. Buying insurance/medical coverage for the family could indeed bring happiness. Just consuming - nope.
Load More Replies...Well, money can buy you financial stability and the ability to do whatever you want, so in a way you can buy happiness.
Agreed. It's been shown that happiness levels increase when moving from below to above the poverty line, but are stable otherwise. Whether or not you will be happier making $500 more per month is a direct correlation to whether or not you are currently struggling to eat and pay rent.
Load More Replies...Money can buy security, and a cat. Then cat toys... that makes me happy.
But how is this bad? They're not exploiting you for money, just trying to make sure you're ok and they're trying to make sure you have a plan on getting a safe place of your own to stay
The sad thing is the fact that such an offer is necessary and will be appreciated by many. It's a bit like soup kitchens during the Great Depression.
Load More Replies...I don’t see an issue, they are offering a safe place and volunteers to help out.
This is great. Just the help and support some people may need right now.
Lived in my car for a year or so. Worked fulltime, as many hours as I was allowed, was always hungry and/or bored. I was lucky enough to have a Denny's where as long as I was polite and discreet, they pretended not to know I was in their parking lot. They also pretended not to see when I grabbed fries off of abandoned tables (although I only did this when I was really hungry because I know it can get them in big trouble). I'm grateful every day not to have to do that anymore, although I still can't get out of the habit of hording/hiding food. This sort of thing is badly needed (esp. if they also offer bathrooms). Vote for affordable housing and social safety nets.
This is not a bad thing. This is a good thing. They should do this everywhere and the supervision can come from further un employed people. To help them get on their feet.
This is sad, but it's more of a result of the other signs on here. Sort of
The thought that this is a necessary service is the BAD here. Not the service itself.
This was just last week in Brazil. This guy was offered a job in his actual profession after this photo went viral. Unemployment here has reached an astounding rate of 15%, 3% more since Bolsonaro was elected - robbed his way to - president. These delivery guys make less than a dollar per delivery and have been overworking in order to make less than minimum wage.
Load More Replies...Well... That is DEFINITELY a Streamlined Property. The ability of the gentleman on the right, to completely ignore the poor soul to his left is absolutely disgusting.
It's not the cart, but the creepy message on the flag. It kind of gives the same feeling of "Don't forget, you're here forever." The grocer I work at just has the carts without the flag, they're cute.
Load More Replies...I think this is actually cute, considering we have to buy food. Unless you grow and raise what you are going to eat. Afterall the person that took picture was a customer, no?
see these in almost every supermarket in Europe. No one gets hurt if you watch your children.
Ahh I was watching that this morning and sighing at the name again. Love that show.

It's that mirrors usually don't need to be 'initialized' with your phone. Or require a survey.
Load More Replies...I don't understand - capitalism leads to innovation to the point of frivolity that we have smart mirrors? Should we instead be gazing into polished sheets of silver or pools of still water?
? I don't see anything wrong here. There are a bunch of ads for this and it's a workout tool that honestly looks pretty amazing. You can also turn it off so it becomes a functional mirror. I mean seriously this thing looks awesome. you also have a choice- you don't have to buy it.
This is a smart mirror. It will show you, for example, a fitness video where you can see yourself and the trainer. I don't really see what shoud be wrong with that and I think that they just didn't understand what is going on.
People have been wearing sandwichboards for at least 100 + years, this is nothing new.
This is common. I was told to do this type of thing when I worked in retail years ago tbh.
I was told to upsale when I worked for KFC many years ago. I did it, but with the enthusiasm of a 50-year-old stripper.

Um, how old is this billboard? You can't touch a home in San Francisco for less than $1 million.
Yeh, why not drink EVERY DAY after work. I mean, it's not like alcohol's BAD for you or anything, oh wait..
Actually, a glass of wine or a beer is not. Maybe you should do a little bit more research on the topic...

They took these down. They realized they would be punishing the women who need it the most. These SHOULD be free, just like hormone pills that help women manage their periods and health.
Oh, can I have my shavers also for free? My soap? Food? Mobile phone? Because I need it? Ah yes, these are women, so they are always right.

If Mr. Uber Eats was a handicapped downhill skier, everyone would applaud him, and say how brave and determined he is. An inspiration! And he would be, because it takes perseverance, strength and determination to overcame such adversity. Mr. Uber here is also overcoming, making his own way. Let's not diminish his success with our pity.
I think many people are missing the point to this. It's not pointing out how this one-legged man is a delivery person. It's pointing out that he is more capable and willing than the lazy people who don't want to leave their couch to pick it up.
Or the sick people, the other disabled people, the elderly, people like firemen and doctors who have to work all day and night and don't have time to cook, overworked single parents or just, you know, perfectly normal people who order food every once in a while.
