Everyone wants to believe their own eyes, but what you don't see can often turn the point of view drastically. Photo editing might be the most common way to change a picture's narrative, but simple cropping is a low-tech alternative that can be just as effective.
This technique works because our minds always strive to understand what's happening around us and behind the scenes. When we only see a partial image, we instinctively try and guess what might be outside of the frame. Think that these hilarious pictures are dirty? Blame your own mind, not us!

That could also be the camera's depth of field playing with the size of the subjects. Where's the context for the edited photo? While I don't know the photo's history, something this serious should come with background sources, not just a photo of edited photos trying to show how doctoring a photo changes the perception (see the flaw?). This also raises questions like how much can the photographer edit (every Photograph, especially in the digital photography, is edited either by the camera's firmware or the application the photographer imports it to, without the average photographer aware of it). Hardly dangerous. I'm not so sure horses love the water, but they certainly don't mind it. They are used to cross rivers and creeks all the time. Even rivers with a strong current are no sweat.

These "bae caught me slipping" pics are all purposely done for jokes, not all some lonely people who are fronting about a partner taking the picture... Look it up on knowyourmeme lol. Didn't know the meme spreaded all the way to what looks like Japan though. These people who use their feet in these pics are talented!!

Why do so many people take selfies of "so and so caught me sleeping"? My husband has taken actual pics of me sleeping, and the last thing I'd do is post it online... no one who is actually sleeping takes a flattering pic. Are they doing it to pretend they have a bf/gf? And while this was cropped, the majority aren't... so do people just send it without looking at it, or are they just looking at themselves? "Hmm, well I look like I'm sleeping, since my eyes are closed and I'm contorted in the way only a toddler would sleep, so that checks out... good to go!"
