I am pretty sure it is true, as I heard a very similar story somewhere else. But it is very likely it was stolen.

You realise there are places where coming out can literally get you killed, right? Also, not everyone has understanding family. There are many people living on the streets, because their own parents kiced them out of home.

I'm glad coming out early worked well for you, but that experience is not universal. He came out at 12 and was bullied. Maybe it was only 10% of the students, but they certainly made his school life difficult. Maybe the other 90% didn't give a c**p about his sexual orientation, but they certainly didn't give a c**p about his well-being, either.
