I Turned My Ink And Watercolor Paintings Of Fantasy Characters Into Playing Cards.
I made this unique deck of cards using ink and watercolor as a way to get off my computer (and my phone) and create visual reminders to consume intentionally. I titled this deck “Dilly Dally Playing Cards”.
As someone who struggles with tech addiction (particular the knee jerk reaction to pick up my phone every 2 seconds), I was getting tired of feeling guilty about my time wasting activities. I also observed younger generations consuming an alarming amount of screen time, and as I began to dig in to research about how our brains are essentially rewritten and become less creative the more we consume, I knew that I needed to fight my over-consumption. Determined to live a more intentional life, I decided to shut off the screens, and pick up my inks and watercolors.
I wanted to create fun, humorous reminders to not waste time, and I also wanted to use the art to make a practical product that encourages human connection. What’s better than playing a card game with friends and family?
If you like this project, I am running a crowdfunding campaign to help get this artful deck of cards into as many hands as possible.
