Bora wind (bura in Croatian) in the Croatian Adriatic Sea makes some spectacular scenes. It can reach speeds of up to 220 km/h. Bora is usually in the presence of clear skies, while clouds gather on the mountaintops (Mountain Velebit cap). It blows in gusts, raising, short waves with white crests. The small drops formed by the wind create a so-called “sea smoke” and here .comes the magic. Sun through clear skies makes beautiful rainbows.
I bet as pretty as these photos are, they've got nothing on the real thing. Cameras try, but they usually come up a little flat vs being there. You are lucky to get to witness it.
