I Painted 10ft Mural Entirely Out Of Makeup

I immigrated to US during the war in my country of ex Yugoslavia.

Becoming a makeup artist was more than just a job for me, it saved my life and gave me purpose. I am forever grateful for the opportunity, for the chance to have a peaceful and creative life.

I moved to NYC to follow my dreams and found my place in the fashion industry. I was surrounded by most incredible creative energy that had my blood rushing with an amazing inspiration.

Out of my love for make up, passion for painting developed, and with the guidance of my beloved husband, I started to paint and illustrate.

This painting is the moment my two loves met at the same road. I was given an opportunity to fuse makeup and painting in one project, thanks to French Cosmetic company MAKE UP FOR EVER.

They have approached me to create this 10ft mural for the launch of their new waterproof pencil colors called AQUA XL that they created in collaboration with the singer CHARLI XCX.

They wanted to capture the spirit of the festival girl, colorful and free.

This project took a lot of preparation and planning, from sketching, to figuring out how to utilize small pencils for such a big undertaking.

I do have to say, pencils are so wonderfully waterproof, that I had to cheat a little with MAKE UP FOR EVER body cream, for more watery effect that you will see trough out the painting.

Last two hours of the painting were done live in front of the audience of beauty editors, bloggers and of course Charli xcx herself. I am so honored and grateful for this opportunity and I hope you enjoy the video of it made by French filmmaker Cecile Delepiere.
