A few years ago I kept thinking of phrases over and over in mind, and wondering why people in their homes tend to go for the same old ones: LIVE, LAUGH, LOVE and the like. So I started to create banners and pennants with the slogans I wanted to see. I drafted my own alphabets, cut out fabric letters by hand, and sew around each one with my sewing machine in a process that can take hours. My favourite pieces are ones where I use vintage or found fabrics, cut out the motifs and layer them to create scenes, like “You’re Gonna Go Far Kid”, where I took a space print background fabric and layered an African wax print that looked like craters, and finally added a spaceman from a vintage sci-fi fabric piece. Sometimes I make smaller pieces that can be used as mini wall hangings or big jacket patches. I hope you like them!

What slogan would you like to see?
