My background is in fine art and history. I make ornimental creatures from papier mache which reference mythological chimera and beasts depicted in medieval marginalia. I also make embroidery pieces which speaks about imagined landscapes and the death of nature.

I was once told by a friend at art school that my “art never looks like art…it always looks like shit…” that was meant not to be a value judgement merely an observation…and I have to be clear things looking a bit ramshackle or incomplete is central and deliberate to my aesthetic. I have always been drawn towards uncomplcated materials and the most basic ways to use them. I have always hovered between insider and outsider art.
