NYC sidewalks are permanently marked by flattened chewing gum. I’ve accidentally stepped in it more times than I can count, and it’s always annoying. But after a while, I realized how constant it is here. It’s everywhere, and in a strange way, it feels like part of the city’s identity. I started wondering if that everyday nuisance could be turned into something intentional. So I created a sneaker using bubble gum to recreate those familiar sidewalk marks, turning an irritation most people avoid into a uniquely NYC fashion statement.
