Lots of stupid rules exist. What are some of yours?

Felt I should answer my own question. When it snowed at my school, and they banned students from touching the snow. Everyone ignored that, but still.

During P.E. In my eight grade year in middle school, we weren’t allowed to bring water bottles. If it’s 95 degrees outside (I live in Virginia so it was from time to time) suck it up. In a class where you are taught to be healthy and take care of your body, it just doesn’t make sense.

1.) We aren’t able to go between campuses during the day even though I always have classes in both campuses. I think one campus is for creative/ fine arts stuff like band, dance, theater, and choir. The other campus is just the library, classrooms, and some kind of tech lab thing where I have robotics. The cafeteria is also on this campus. 2.) my parents are super strict so when I am home, they always give me stupid rules. Like I have to take a shower between 6 and 7pm, I have to eat dinner at 7 pm every day, I can’t go to my room unless I am sleeping, I have to finish homework before 6 pm, I can’t be on my phone past 8:30, I have to sleep by 9:30, I can’t have books or electronics in my room, and I have to play with the dog between 8 and 9. I’m also only allowed to play with one of my dogs then, and I’m only allowed to play fetch or tug of war with him, and I’m only allowed to play with him in the kitchen. 3.) in my school, we aren’t allowed to go to the commons (locker area) while a class is going on. So if you forgot a book or binder, you aren’t allowed to go and get it until class is over, but you wouldn’t even need it then. Same thing for study halls. If you finish your homework for English in a study hall, you can’t just go and get your math homework from the commons. You have to wait until study hall is over. 4.) no pda, which is pretty common. However, I go to an all girls school, and some teachers are more strict about this than others. So some teachers get mad at you for hugging or holding hands lol.

I sort of understand not wanting that for people who don't want to join in at all, they might be pressured into it anyway.

Best entry, hands down. Real insight. The dirty secret here is that how we feel is almost entirely up to us. Snake-oil salesmen want you to think that feelings depend on outward controls, so that you pay for goods and services to manipulate them. But that's a greedy lie. God gave us the ability to overcome any circumstance, with the right attitude. That's the essence of freedom and the beauty of being.

Ok So, When I Was In Highschool We Had This Stupid Rule Where You Can't Leave The Room Within The First 10 Minutes Of Class Or Within The Last 10 Minutes Of Class.

This is very common. Kids play around in the halls until the last moment, enter while the tardy bell rings, and then demand a potty pass. During the first ten minutes teachers do attendance, warmup activity, and presentation of new learning material. Kids especially must stay during presentation

Or in my case, all the students that vape need to go to the toilet multiple times during a 45min period especially straight after lunch or as soon as morning roll call starts

My students all need to go to the toilet or leave the room when there 5min left of the lesson. It's usually the same ones and they usually only want to leave early because they've had enough for the day and figure close enough is good enough. Problem being I teach horticulture and have to get these kids ready for a work site. If they leave the work site 5min early and before the boss they will most likely be told not to come back tomorrow as they've left early but the rest of the workers are now stuck finishing up, I think it's more about getting young people work ready. Punctuality and sticking things out matter in that world

We have this rule. We also have "tardy sweeps," where one of the vice principals wanders the halls making sure that students aren't skipping. This is stupid for 2 reasons. One is that they never actually check the places that people go when skipping. The other is that they announce it first. Now "at this time we will be conducting a tardy sweep, teachers please close and lock your doors," basically means "if you're in the hallway, proceed to the nearest bathroom."

I like this rule. Hands out denotes readiness. Hands in looks casual and unprofessional. Ever walk stairs with hands in pockets? It can be disastrous.

I disagree with jewelry and hair dye rules in school in order to all be similar. That's the only reason I've ever heard and I personally think it sounds really sad that everyone has to follow these rules in order to have no individuality

The kids in Australia have to wear uniforms to school because it makes everyone equal so kids can't discriminate against each other because someone can't afford the same clothes as another

Most rules exist for a reason and often a good one, though we may not understand it at the time. Outside the human family, nature is still full of boundaries and limitations. The fun is learning how to work with the parameters. Life is a game that creative and persistent souls can win.

The "no hats" rule at my school. If they gave a logical reason I would understand, but so far all anyone can tell me is "its distracting." I'm sorry, but I think there are plenty of things in this classroom that are far more distracting than my hat, as fabulous as it may be. Luckily, most of my teachers don't care, so I just get yelled at in the hallway a lot by random teachers I don't know.

Women teachers who lose their hair due to chemo likely cannot wear hats either. Everyone knows that wearing a hat to work is the worse thing that anyone can possibly do; the fabric of society would tear apart if we let this rule go

No abortions. I swear it is so inhumane to make a 5-12-year-old go through with the birth or anything (also for the age I mean as a show, every one of all ages should be able to get abortions )

In the USPS, the carriers can't combine all the mail together in one bundle for each delivery address in the office . We have to combine 2 to 4 different "bundles" when we reach your address. This is to get us out of the office early but makes for a long, inconvenient day. It's all a numbers game for management to "time" your route.
