I keep running across articles which praise DEI ( Diversity, Equity & Inclusion). Please share your stories of when DEI worked and when it didn't.Was someone less experienced promoted because they were a "minority"?

I'll start. In the 90s, coworkers kept telling me how knowledgeable I was and how I should have been made a team lead long before. They encouraged me to speak to our supervisor about a promotion. He said he'd consider it. Of course, DEI wasn't a thing yet and I would not have considered my being a white woman the sole reason for a promotion. A few weeks later, I got my answer when yet another male was promoted to team lead. When I took an accounting of the previous team leads, they were all male...this was an office setting.

Eventually, 13 years in, I was finally recognized and promoted.
