I worked as a medical assistant in a cardio vascular clinic. I am a certified tech to read ekg. I read one on a patient. Who also showed signed of heart blockage and needed to be treated asap as his levels where crazy. I walked into the doctos office and told the doc his blood pressure and his ekg results. I was fired the next day because I convinced that doctor for walking into his office to tell him a patient wasn't well and I think they might be in the beginning stages of a heart attack. Apparently as a medical assistant I didn't know enough and treated the doctor poorly. Comes out....the patient did have a heart attack after I left for the day and almost died 5 times during open heart surgery who the doctor I incovenanced had to operate on.
Take you assistants notes wisely. I never said a thing to the patient as I didn't want to stress them and poker faced my entire exam prior to the doctor seeing him. I was just generally worried about a patient. It could of been nothing.... I'm sorry but wtf did I have to lose my job over it? Btw this was right before Christmas I lost my job as a single mom. D***s
That's not fair that you lost your job for doing the right thing. I can only hope that you are treated better in your next job
At my work I am always given the worst jobs and am not allowed to be take a break until everyone else has because they "got there before me", sorry but it's an hour until I leave and I'd like to eat lunch. Also, my manager always is telling me what to do and how to do it, but I have worked there longer than him and I trained him.
Call the local government and make a complaint about the company. You can remain anonymous
Short version of long story: got hired at a convenience store in North Carolina. I worked hard, I was honest, and everything was going fine. One night an assistant manager closed who I hadn’t worked with before. He was very nasty and trapped me against the wall to kiss me. I was scared to death and managed to get out of there. Called the head boss the next day. He said he was sorry that happened and that he would take care of the problem. Next day they moved me to a different store 20 miles away in the boonies! I quit.
My boss texted my while I was in the ER, vomiting blood, and on so many meds, telling me she is tired of picking up my slack and I need to learn to take better care of myself. What the fresh hell is that?
There's been several incidences.
The managers will ignore my questions, become boisterously loud right behind me when I'm on the phone and then tell me I can't be telling them to be quieter. And then there was the incident where I sliced my hand on a jagged, sliver of metal, on the underside of the doorknob and I was accused of "not know how to open and close a door". My supervisor made me open and close the door for him in front of everyone while mansplaining to me how to operate a door. That reached HR.
I was will be assigned a project I hadn't worked on in a long time and want to refresh. But then I'll be lectured for "not being productive."
If I'm working on the wrong project by accident, instead of alerting me right away, they wait until hours later to interrogate me about not being able to catch my mistake, while refusing to answer my questions why they didn't just tell me sooner if they knew for a long time. I have math dyslexia, sometimes I get mixed up when seeing numbers, and the projects tend to be labeled with similar number sequences.
Dyscalculia is a problem that the managers should understand. If numbers are hard for you to read the managers should take that into account before being asshøles
A manager told me to quite and reapply as a janitor. Nothing against janitors, you literally couldn't pay me enough to deal with what they deal with, but in HER mind she was telling me I was worthless.
I had just graduated law school at the age of 36 and was hired by a judge as a law clerk (a big deal). I found out I was pregnant a week before I started (I had fertility issues and was stunned!) and told the judge on my first day. His response was, “Well, it’s still early—you might lose it”, then fired me when I was 37 weeks pregnant. There was no recourse because clerks serve “at the pleasure of the judge” and aren’t protected by FMLA laws. I had even offered to take only two weeks off.
Right now I'm sitting in an office on Dec 23rd with two co-workers testing positive for COVID who were here yesterday and they won't let the 5 "essential" workers go work remote. So now I either go to my family's Christmas celebration knowing I am potentially exposing them or I miss the second Christmas in a row. Oh and my boss gave me a bottle of Vanilla Extract for Christmas. Garbage.
I wish I could really find the words to describe the 8 years of commitment and going above and beyond for a job I loved- only for my company to reorganize the hierarchy by hiring supervisors with degrees but no knowledge of how to do the job. I have a degree but not masters but know the job- basically doing my job was a threat to these new idiots and now half the staff is gone as well. Was a great non profit organization until they decided to ruin it for whatever reason
Worked at a charity shop. I was a general assistant so I did a bit of everything, I was mostly on till. A new guy comes in and starts working they put him on till, he has a name badge on. I go ask the boss about it because I never got a name badge. He told me “you only get a name badge if your on till” I still never got on and still worked on till
I am a social worker. At my former job at a psychiatry, I was the only one without a partner or kids. We were all paired up. When one person wanted a holiday, the other one had to work. I did well with my partner. In case of an emergency we were assigned to be the 3rd person for another couple. For instance person 1 is on holiday, the partner falls ill, the 3rd person has to do their work (only urgent things). I was the 3rd partner to 2 bitches who always tought they could take their holidays together. At a meeting with all the social workers they had the gall to say : she doesn’t have a partner or kids. Why does she needs christmas off? We both have a husband and kids. Our head was going with it until I accused them of discriminating me as a single person and I was taking my holiday as agreed with my own partner! The bitches gave me the stink eye and I got to have my week of holiday off as requested. Bitches!!! I saw a lot of single people being f****d over because they don’t have kids or a partner. Don’t be shitty, we al deserve our holidays! Now I am married with a kid, but thank God I work at a place where we are all treated the same way, single or not.
While in the military, i was the only female in my shop for a few years at work. Our highest was an E-9, and he was a jerk half the time. We had a chance to send a couple people on a deployment, and I asked to go. He said no because I was a girl and girls were not allowed to go. So I asked why my roommate and other females were going. He had no answer. It took other guys I worked with to convince him to give me a chance. Then he said I could go because he “wouldn’t have to deal with me for a while.” Another time, that same guy sent me to guard duty, ok fine. Then left me there an extra 30 days because, again, I’m a female, and he didn’t want to deal with me. Not sure how he was allowed to stay long enough to retire. He was an alcoholic jerk who did not deserve to be there.
All my teachers say my job is being a student, so I’m just gonna share a story from school. Ok, so picture an 8 year old with a cleft lip, waving ver hands about, walking fast into ver class. My 3rd grade teacher was abusive towards the “weaker ones” and I qualified. She would get so angry at me for making the tiniest mistakes all because of my ocd. She would just wear me down to pieces trying to get me into the special Ed classes. I stayed out of the special ed class, but the verbal abuse left a scar. This teacher is rumored to have been fired from 16 school because she abused her students. My friend was slapped by her. If you are reading this Ms. Roesler, you’ve got to pay for our therapy
My 3rd grade teacher was a wacko too. But just think about third grade boys.... They are very tiring
I was deliberately assigned the worst class I have ever seen for my crucial teaching exam.
Oh boy have I got stories- I can’t even think of anything specific to write about because the whole job is a mess- but I work in a restaurant and I’m currently the oldest (both age-wise and having been there the longest) in my position. The longer you’re in the job, the more skills they train you on. You don’t get a pay raise so normally it wouldn’t bother me that I’m the oldest and I’ve got all sorts of newbies passing me up- it is very irritating though when I get talked down to by the newbies. They try to do my job for me and then screw things up. I’m the only one who’s been so neglected and the only time they trained me on a higher position was because they were desperate and nobody else could come in. They haven’t let me work that position again. Then my boss makes us stand against a wall all the time. Again this wouldn’t be as irritating if I wasn’t so condescending AND because it’s very useless. If we stand against the wall, we’re away from the counter where our supplies is, we’re in the way of servers and guests, and we can’t communicate to the manager behind the counter. In my opinion, there’s no benefit to us standing there aside from it making the manager feel like they’re in control. Finally, my job tries to make things fun by holding games and contests, but if you’re in specific positions, you can’t participate. And it’s only the ones who never do their jobs who actually get rewarded, because for those of us doing a superb job, that’s the norm. For those who hardly show up and don’t do their jobs, it’s easy to catch when they actually do something. I put together a table for a party of 21, cleaned the storage room, and fixed a table, but the guy who won the prize clapped for the birthday song for the first time in his life. I should’ve quit a million years ago, but I’ve only got a few more weeks left, so at this point it feels like I might as well finish it up.
I unfortunately work in an office setting where the VP is a bully. He’s hired all women, and none of us stand up to him because he’s “the boss”. Been working there 6 months now and have seen the bullying pattern. Other co-workers say he’s scary and try not to interact with him. Or that you have to get to know him to get on his good side. Or even worse make the excuse that he doesn’t mean to be an a$$hole. It’s a sad situation where the VP is controlling, mean and has no empathy. Time to look for a new job. He’s not going anywhere.
I was a receptionist/Accounts Payable at a small manufacturer. There was a warehouse and an office, I worked in the office. One day still relatively new in the position, I transferred a call to the owner. I don't quite recall why he got upset but after the call he got me on the intercom and started yelling at me. Literally yelling. One of the warehouse guys was passing by and even called him out that he shouldn't yell at me.
I did quit that job soon after but gave my 2 weeks notice. During that notice, they kicked me out of my normal office, stripped most of my duties away from me and had my temporary desk moved near the owner's office. I was verbally abused with more yelling until I cried. They then just said to leave and not come back.
This was one of my first jobs I had and was taught about the two week notice but wasn't told I'd be treated differently. Working at that place truly traumatized me to an extent that I have issues trusting employers.
My boss threw a hamburger at my head because I mentioned he had tomato sauce on his chin.
I worked for a home care company and the DON was not very nice. She was fake, used company time for her personal stuff like studying or homework. She used the company car to get her hair done and submitted the mileage so she would get reimbursed. All that to say she was pretty shady. My first (and only) Christmas party I went to I brought my girlfriend. I am also a lady and being in the south there’s not much love there. But also being from the south most ppl at least pretend to be polite to your face. She didn’t know I had a gf. I told others I worked with but since I was in the office and she was out and about most of the time (and honestly I tried to avoid her she was pretty intimidating) she didn’t know. My girlfriend and I go to the party. I introduce her to the owner and other colleagues. Everyone is nice and welcoming. We get to the nurse and I introduce her. She looked my girlfriend up and down, scowled, and walked away. Left her there with her hand out to shake. From that day on I was on her radar. Nothing I did was good enough. I did everything wrong and she treated me nastier than ever. If I was on call and needed her bc of a client falling she wouldn’t answer my call. She put clients lives in danger just to make me look bad like I didn’t call her. A few months of this and I quit. I’ve never been so upset! I sent the whole place a letter of exactly how I felt about her and why I was leaving!
At a job, we would go out to a restaurant for a department lunch after successful project launches. There were 3 groups within the department, and I was the "new guy", but still the lead for my group. One of the other leads was only in the office every other week, so we would wait until he was in the office to have the lunch.
So my first successful launch occurs and the boss said we have to wait a week for the other lead to be in the office. No big deal. I don't hear anything else about the lunch. Then one of my team members asks why I didn't come to the lunch. (We don't all work in the same area of the office, so you don't always notice if they aren't at their desk).
Apparently the head of the department told everyone about the lunch except me. Wish I could say it was the only time he did that to me, but he did it to me twice more. At least the third time one of my guys called me when he realized I wasn't there again.
The department head made it pretty clear that he has friends (the other two leads and the old lead that I took over for), and I am not one of them. He eventually started inviting me to the department lunches, but I don't attend them. Fortunately, my company was bought and I got moved under a different group so I no longer have to deal with my old department head anymore.
I was fired from a mental hospital when I left work because my grandmother, who I lived with for quite a while passed away. They had plenty of staff and it didn't put any burden on coworkers. They said so themselves. "If you leave, don't come back!" Was the response I got. I left anyway. Family always comes first!
For seven years I worked as a contractor at an electronics company that had a lucrative defense contract. All that time and they didn't see fit to make me permanent. As a result, I got only one measly raise in all that time, and couldn't participate in certain activities, such as getting a holiday bonus or a free flu shot. Yet I was expected to work as hard as anybody. I could go on and on and on about the way they treated even their permanent staff.
