Some from Terry Pratchett's "Discworld" universe. About 40 books in a fantasy world that parodies basically everything, incredibly written and the funniest stuff ever. There is no need to read all in a fixed order (though it makes sense within the individual cycles). I for one particularly like the City Watch novels (starting with "Guards! Guards!").

I really enjoyed "The Tipping Point" by Malcom Gladwell. It's a non-fiction book that really gave me a new perspective on a lot of things.

The seven and a half deaths of Evelyn Husband. That book made my mind spin in a good way, and was an incredibly fascinating book. As a murder mystery, it hits hard.

I recommend the Horrible Histories books by Terry Deary. They’re fun to read for both kids and adults, and you should watch the TV series as well, it’s hilarious! But not the reboot, it’s terrible. The original series with the Six Idiots (or Them There, those are their collective names) is the best! I know you’re looking for books, but still. You can find it on BBC iPlayer, it’s free to watch.

I don't know if this counts (it's a comic book), but Frieren: Beyond Journey's End is a beautifully drawn manga about an elf mage who has to deal with the fact that she must outlive all her friends and goes on a journey to talk to them again. The anime adaptation is also good. Also, no fanservice
