I Create Inspirational Hand Written Prints To Motivate Others

I’ve been creating hand lettered prints since late 2012. My studio walls are full of images ranging from botanical studies, woodland creatures, fashionable females, and curious illustrative scenes. This curated imagery inspires and motivates me in my creative process.

It occurred to me one day that I had no words on my walls; no words of encouragement and adventure. Words can often be more powerful than images; they’re both visual and auditory, and hold a strong connection to our self belief. Nowadays inspirational prints have gained in popularity, especially digital downloads. However, I completely avoid all computer fonts. Instead, every print is originally hand lettered by myself; therefore the lettering in each piece is bespoke and personal to that particular artwork.

When the print arrives through the door, it’s a personal experience, such as receiving a handwritten letter. I letter each piece in ink or paint, and tend to work freely without any guidelines or preliminary sketches. It is of the moment, much like the effect it has on the viewer; the essence of the quote is instant and creates a reaction of many sorts, hopefully that of hope, love or strength.
