A while back, we made a post about people who were perusing art museums and galleries and spontaneously stumbled upon their famous doppelgangers, in a fine art form.
Perhaps inspired by this, Google has decided to add a feature to their Arts & Culture app that uses facial recognition technology to match your selfie with classical art. The portraits are pulled from a database of celebrated works collected from over 1000 museums worldwide, so the chances of a half-decent match should be fairly high, shouldn’t they?
Well now the results are in, and it’s fair to say that they are mixed, at best. This seems to part of the appeal, however, as people have begun posting their funny photos online and they are proving to be wildly popular. You can see why!
Sadly, the feature isn’t yet available outside of the U.S. so if you’re not stateside and would like to give to find who's your look-alike from classical paintings, you’ll have to be a little patient. In the meantime, however, you can scroll down below and check out what others have been compared with. Don’t forget to vote for your favorite!

Unrelated, but WE HAVE THE SAME NAME!! Hello! :)
Load More Replies...Not a match at all. Eyes, eyebrows , nose might be close, but, no, his droops a little, can't see his lips, different cheekbones. YUK!
Yeah. Kumail looks more of an elder one while the other is more chilled out! #YoungOnesAreTheCoolest
Load More Replies...This is so accurate!!! But i mean, i gotta act like i dont care....
Is that stranger things? Never seen it, too busy playing Mario on my 30-year old gaming console.
Caroline, you're a good sport. And don't worry, there's no resemblance !! You're way better looking than the horrifying guy. Can the arts & culture app.
Well... I can see the resemblance, like several facial features ARE similar, but Caroline is definitely working them better.
They just picked an Asian art piece ... She doesn't resemble that in any way 😂😂
1 of 200 people is direct descendants of Genghis Khan, who was Khublai's father. So it is kinda true
Load More Replies...F***s sake, this isn't racist! It's a 39% match and Did you see the other woman with a picture that didn't match at all?! She was white so suddenly it's not racist. Double f*****g standards. Good job people.
Not everything is racist. Jesus it was a computer- an algorithm . In a world with REAL racism and so many other atrocities to give air time to- PLEASE GOD stop picking at every single LITTLE thing. It's exhausting
Actually i'd be quite proud as you appear like nobility! i'm of Siberian descent with some DNA links tracing back to ancient Mongolia... Though you'd never guess to look at me as i'm lacking the Mongolian fold of the eyes (for protection of surviving the harsh winter mountain climes).
Wow! Google can recognize how Khubilai Khan looked like when he was young and slim. The similarity of shape of eyebrow and of mouth is recognizable.
Ya know I think he's Japanese, think he's Japanese, I really think so
that's neil f*ing gaiman. he is international treasure. he is perfect the way he is.
He's certainly a storyteller i personally treasure. "...Shadow truths will endure..." - Neil Gaiman
Load More Replies...My thought exactly. Looks like that guy in drag!
Load More Replies...I'm sorry but the only reason that you got matched to David is because you're naked and have a towel or whatever it is draped over your shoulder.
This one is photoshopped or something. They don't show the museum where the art is located, unlike with the others.
Actually according to what I just read David may have been better endowed than his statue shows. Haven't you ever wondered why almost every old statue is graced with a rather underwhelming appendage? According to How To Talk About Art History, it turns out that back in the day bigger was not always better at all. In fact, bigger was actually frowned upon – as the majority felt a big penis was synonymous with a man who was ‘foolish, lustful, & ugly’ – according to art historian Ellen Oredsson. Back in the ancient era’s, the smaller a penis was, the more rational & intellectual the owner was – apparently. these ideals were even documented in ancient literature, such as in Clouds by Aristophanes
This could go up in the "strangest coincidences you would not believe happened" list
Hmmmh.... It recognized the genes, though. Maybe it's smarter than we think. ^_-
But it's not HIS grandmother. It's his girlfriend/wife/significant others grandmother.

Load More Replies...Quite right Jess CCC. i thought similar as both their expressions capture a distinct quality of fierceness!
Load More Replies...Ahahaha I got a 35% match with this same piece of art! But I am a woman with no facial hair. Sad day.
I can't believe they used a picture from this museum. It's in a town in Central Slovakia. I guess not even many Slovaks know of the museum. I'm impressed, Google.
Does anyone understand the "glasses" comment? Means nothing to me.
Yeah, that's pretty much the only thing I'm seeing.
Load More Replies.......and mouth, and eyebrows and eyes! This is either a case of reincarnation or a direct ancestor.
Load More Replies...Do the same pose please! I think there really is a strong resemblance.
Quite right Godfrey, & i too hope you do pose the same for your own portrait.
Load More Replies...Remarkable that the app can match features even though at completely different angles. I'm impressed.
Mouth WAY off. Just think, the artist was actually trying to FLATTER the guy!
It only matched noses. The portrait has a terrible under bite. Similar eyes, though.
wow, thats a good one. I cant put my finger on what exactly makes it such a good match but theres definitely a strong resemblance
Pretty good match on everything- chin, mouth, nose, eyes, eyebrows, forehead, face shape.
Load More Replies...That would inspire me to grow my hair long, get contacts and move the ring to my earlobe.
Mona Lisa took a selfie? Great, now we can ask her real name! (Yes I know they *think* she may have been Lisa Gherardini, but they aren't sure.)
The live woman on the left is actually pretty cute. The woman in the art piece has a face like an ashtray.
Why assume he wasn't wearing make-up? The picture was painted in 1744, when Edward Hales was 14, so he's quite likely to have been wearing make-up. This article refers to a 13 year old boy wearing make-up in the 18th century: https://18centurybodies.wordpress.com/2013/06/05/male-make-up-in-eighteenth-century-england/ .
She said to her friend that she feels like she looks like an adolescent boy, when she is not wearing makeup, not that the boy in the portrait isn't wearing any.
Load More Replies...It looks as though the app matched them because they both have eyes, lips, a nose and skin.
Stellar idea Linda Hobart, bet that would do just the trick!
Load More Replies..."Pulling of the Pretzel" sounds like a euphemism for something very personal that some people think is naughty.
After this post, That same woman found alien life and communicated with it Maybe it actually did scan your IQ 😂😂😂 (JK)
Lips couldn't be any closer...but fortunately you don't have that nose!
No. cheekbones and eyes. blonde one's lips are fuller
Load More Replies...It's pretty close, I guess, but I would hazard a guess that her boobs are much bigger.
She was trying to fake a Frida Kahlo self portrait and failed miserably.
Load More Replies...Nothing wrong with it, I guess, but half of these seem like Google employees selling the app. They say "try yourself" or use the app name in their comment and are oddly neutral.
By selling I mean pushing, advertising... my guess is the app is free.
Load More Replies...I want someone to recreate or even take a picture of a famous piece and see if it's 100%
There's one in the list of someone using a picture of the Mona Lisa (did not match the Mona Lisa) but that would be interesting to see with someone recreating something or taking an actual picture rather than using a pic off the internet.
Load More Replies...If you're in Texas or Illinois, this app won't work due to biometrics security laws.
I was wondering why it would not work for me. That's c**p.
Load More Replies...Oh yeshhh, give them more image of your face, and keep using faceID :))
WTH is this c**p? This app is broken. Very few entries resemble each other.
My dad got this creepy little henchman guy and it creeps him out. I think he's secretly disappointed tbh
Damn, some were so accurate and funny but others were quite disapointing indeed.
