Goa – Past & Present 2018 Calendar

This sixth edition of SRE Group’s popular desktop calendar showcases photographs of Goa – Past & Present.

In 1884, D’Sousa & Paul established a photographic studio in Panjim. Over the decades, as Goa went through monumental changes, they documented its rich culture and heritage, its people and its transformation. Most of these photos clicked using large-format cameras and glass plate negatives have not survived the vagaries of time, but a few original prints can still be found with private collectors. The photographs reproduced here are from the personal collection of Lynn Barreto Miranda.

The corresponding photographs of the present day have been clicked by members of Goan Shutterbugs, Goa’s premier photography association ( www.goanshutterbugs.com ), who have attempted to replicate these moments frozen in time, by shooting the same locations from the same angles.
