59 Hilariously Infuriating Examples Of User Interface That Even Satan Himself Couldn’t Come Up With
What if web developers suddenly stopped caring about user interface friendliness? The internet would become a cruel place. This idea has intrigued a few web design programmers so much that they have started competing on Reddit, to try and figure out who can come up with the most annoying things for users.
Take the various forms we fill out, for example. We input our names, addresses, and phone numbers, submit the data, and instantly move on with our order. Someone wrote quite a few code lines on website design to make this experience as seamless as possible, and believe it or not; they didn't have to. Though these interfaces cannot be found on the worst websites ever, they're still painstakingly funny and annoying. Scroll down to check out the time-consuming monsters, and funny fails that will never see the light of day they could've created instead and upvote your favorites.

No more Angry Birds... it's Angry Volume! Sling that ball far away! ✨
For me it more reminds the tank shooter game... long ago.
Load More Replies...I like this one for real. It has a single touch point. As long as that point is consistently placed, it can allow eyes free operation which is often what you need for volume control. Quick double tap mutes the device, long hold is max volume. How often do we need something in the middle? It injects whimsy into the mundane while remaining useful.
https://jsfiddle.net/vLight/v8uh9suL/ Note: Not by me! Someone truly (evil) genius made this. Unfortunately, I have no name/email of a real author to give him/her credits.
Im born 2004 and know how these work. Could people stop acting like all of generation z is dumb
Load More Replies...It was so hard trying to be the first caller when the radio station said "call now!"
You have to dial the first 6 numbers and listen and wait...then dial the last. Lol
Load More Replies...My dad just got rid of his rotary dial on the wall in the kitchen when he finally got it remodeled. It still worked! It was his grandmothers old house so that thing was at least 50 years old, probably older. Those things sucked!
Why are the numbers in the wrong order?? (and, no, those days were c**p. God, the time you needed when a line was busy!! Maddening! And always having to sit in the damn hallway because cordless phones hadn't been invented yet. Even more maddening!)
I went to the Spy Museum in DC with my little cousin who was about 8 at the time a couple years ago. They had an exhibit about phone surveillance with a model of an old rotary phone with a bug hidden in the mouth piece. She was fascinated by the wheel of the dial and asked me what it was. "I said it's an old phone, that's how you had to dial." She smiled and preceded to poke her fingers in the number holes as if they were buttons. When I showed her that you gotta slide them around to dial the number she laughed and thought it was the most fascinating thing ever. "Y'all took a looooong time to dial back then." she told me. I never felt so old in my life.
kill me end me i may have been born after but i know how annoying those things are
It's like those little games that look like petri dishes, where you ave to roll them around to get tiny silver balls into holes. And with the same frustration quotient!
I have one that's a CUBE. Six faces! I never got past the second face.
Load More Replies...*Starts clicking "no" methodically by spamming it, then realize i've said no on my phone number and scream "how do i get back???"*
Load More Replies...I just need to go through a maximum of 84 millions tries but might get lucky the first time...
Someone's trying to bring back the physical element to life...:D
Our car still has one of those...and it's not a super old car either..
And just like the telephone prompt, it won't pick up my voice or can't understand what I said, but can hear/ understand the neighbors' kids or dogs.
My bad , it is in face Space Invaders, lol so long ago.
Load More Replies...Imagine accidentally entering the wrong number and having to start over :l
What if my phone number doesn't start with the numbers on the bottom...
i was an 'arcade warrior' in the 70s and 80s. challenge accepted - someone hold my beer!
I have a strange feeling that, if I don't pause my music while doing so, it'll be over once I'm done.
Load More Replies...I don’t even understand how this is supposed to work. What does it do??
Just imagine if you were listening to Jimmy Buffet's Changes in Latitudes...
Now this is torture. You have hope. But you lose this Everytime. Like the lottery
i seriously laughed out loud and startled my cat.
Load More Replies...As someone who's worked with binary before, I'd actually be able to work this out without too much trouble.
as someone who knows nothing of binary - i'd shoot myself, and/or the person who made this.
Load More Replies...That's too easy. There should be just 24 switches (so you can go up to 999 9999) that you need to set to 0001 0010 1101 0110 1000 0111 to get 123-4567.
Binary is so neat, if we used binary to count we could count up to 1023 using only our fingers
This is exactly why it says values should be >1
Load More Replies...Am I the only one whose first though was whether a combination of any six integers in this formula can produce every possible 'phone number?
This is easy. X and Y = 0. a, b, and c = 1. Just make Z your phone number. Done.
I can type 3.1415926535897932384626433832795028841971693993 all from memory.
Bonus: if you need volume at 100%, you also get the Field Medal for mathematics!!
Nevermind, it was just glitchy for me
Load More Replies...If you don't get your lucky number, I guess you'll have to roll with it. ✨
Watch about 7 billion people's phones ring before it gets to mine...
Looks like you click on the digits. As quickly as you can before they escape. :P
Load More Replies...This reminds me of how most airlines list the passenger birth year options. It is so VERY annoying to keep scrolling and scrolling and scrolling just to reach 1980.
The slider could go from (000) 0000-0000 to (999) 9999-9999 and you have to slide it to where you need... we're gonna need a bigger slider.
That's the most absurd way of entering the phone number. I want it to become the norm. It fits this world we live in.
Um... binary anyone? But on the plus side, this is a great brain workout.
Not everyone knows binary, since it isn’t taught as a required course in all public schools.
Load More Replies...That could actually be a phone number input. The user starts in Mira HQ, and has to go to admin and do the "Enter ID code" task in-game, but putting in their phone number. Users are sorted into lobbies of nine others also trying to put their number in. Fun times.
Load More Replies...It's kinda better for me because my birthdate is 1111. One I found it everything's solved.
I like this one. Part time waster, part pretend DJ. Remember way back in the day when WindowsBC would show a flashing, pulsing fractal of sound waves to go with music you played?
These are so impractical yet... fun! But I would never want these permanently. ✨
Since sound is scientifically measured in decibels, why can't we have volume control in decibels? I'd like my tv at 70 dB, please.
Very fun, but most web developers already don't care about user interface friendliness for users with disabilities. Despite well-established practices and principles for creating accessible websites, the vast majority of websites remain poor to terrible in this regard. https://webaim.org/projects/million/
UI UX designer is crucial to just about everything. It renders the latest technology accessible to the masses, makes our favourite apps and websites a pleasure to use, and determines which brands and products we return to over and over again. To put it simply, design matters.
