The popularity of Marie Kondo, aka Konmari, proves that as living spaces are shrinking, people are looking for clever ways to tidy up. The spring cleaning queen's book The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing became a bestseller, and on the 1st January 2019, Netflix even released a series on home cleaning called Tidying Up with Marie Kondo. If that doesn't make her an expert on a beautiful life, being listed as one of Time's "100 most influential people" definitely does. Bored Panda has compiled a list of some of the best memes about Marie Kondo to show you how people really feel about the Konmari method, so scroll down, enjoy and upvote the ones that are sparking joy to you!

Awesome in every way, including that someone's foot in a slightly grungy sock is propped up near her knee. Ahhh...home...
Perhaps she's freakishly bendy and has oddly small feet?

And you start remembering the "good old days" with your mates with who you've grown increasingly distant due to life heaping responsibilities on you.
OMG!! A Sidekick!! That's me, I charge every old phone to read contacts & texts
Or you can pass them onto your great grandchildren one day and they can sell them as antiques.
I forced myself to get rid of extra cables when I packed to move a 6 months ago; a small garbage bag was the result
Yep sounds like me and my SO, drawers full of the stuff and no idea (anymore) for what.
And my BF won. Here there comes come back of retro gaming... No need to buy anything :D
I've got 7000 books and nobody will take them away! If I feel the need to declutter I'll move to a bigger place.
Right there with you on this one. Take a book to bed and believe anything is possible.
Load More Replies...I switched to a Kindle 9 years ago, as much as I love my books I got tired of hauling boxes of them every time I moved, and if I was to physically have all of the books on my Kindle, the entire house would be nothing but bookshelves lol. I DO keep my favorites though, even if I have a digital copy.
she never said that readers should ideally keep 30 books. She said that *she* tries to ideally only have 30 books.
I heard this was made up for the meme and she never actually said that.
That is her own amount of books, NOT a suggestion for everyone else. Stop misquoting.
Yeah, I have over 500 books in my collection. So that is a no can do.
She's have trouble, there's far too much c**p piled in front of the telly. At best we'd find her writing in agony having triped over an oscilloscope and broken her face.
No she doesn't... or we have a special tv * pets tv while mumbeling good tv*
As an employee of goodwill I can say with certainty your correct
Oh no, you've found our secret plan. (I work at a Goodwill in Seattle, WA and we have had so many more donations than usual.)

I read this phenomenon is really happening. Someone who works at a thrift store commented that she can't wait till the MK effects are over. She's so tired. 😂
The guys who work in our donations area at Goodwill agree.

OMG, this is me! Except I have about 30 pairs. I will not part with ANY until skin starts showing through, and by then I will have more!
I loved watching her arrange the teeny tiny lacy A cup bras, and wondering how she would manage with my 36N bazooka bearers.
Don't pull this on out of the garbage when he finally gets tossed out.
THIS!! that guy made me so mad!! My partner too. He couldn't believe how that guy was treating his wife
Let me guess... he works 12 hours a day at a job that stresses him out to earn enough to sustain the quality of life they had before she left the workforce, but she, who has chosen her career path based on her personal fulfilment, wanting a little bit of work and a little bit of kids, to pick and choose as she desires, isn't actually holding up her half of the agreement... the agreement he had no say about in the first place. This is a scenario I've heard 100 times. Men sacrifice their health and their relationships with their kids to facilitate the fulfilment-based lifestyle she wants and expects to be entitled to, while he's just a workhorse and any fulfilment is frowned upon as being at her expense. She expects him to fill the gap, as well as support whatever arbitrary choice she makes, while he is not allowed to expect anything, least of all the most mundane, fundamentals, like keeping things at home from going off the rails. And then bleats about the mythical gender "pay gap."
I just love how they have Tesco bags. Was there a special on fish Mr.Otter.
Everyone has that pile of clothes, too clean for the laundry, but not clean enough for the closet
That’s what chairs are for! Perfect storage places! Until you have to use it. Then you use the bed!
Load More Replies...Dressers and closets..what are those? Aren't you just supposed to pull what you need out of the laundry basket and then throw it on the treadmill that sits in the corner collecting dust....
Really... oh well, done that already. Do I want to know the next step?
I find I can't watch Hoarders any more, it is almost like I can smell it through my tv.
My family who believe in 'fun' gifts for birthdays and Christmas despite my suggestion we maybe should just buy for the kids.
(half the people on the planet) That's my grandma!! I know her!! I know her!!
Or the blind grandpa that keeps trying to off load his bicycle collection and camper to you when you live in a small 3rd floor apartment...

The windows TOTALLY spoil the clean lines of wall...
Load More Replies...Laughed so hard. Me mom is a Marie kundo and tries to fix our lives and save her grandkids from their slobby trailer park future by decluttering and cleaning their toys- which means giving them away- first kid able to speak declared war and banned grandma to the basement where she happily reajusts every two weeks.
actually sometimes that is necessary... had a few very toxic friends
Sad but wise! I've whittled down my friends list to people I truly care about.
you are right, they are folded wrong and the whole purpose of the folding is to get them out of your closet and into a drawer.
You don't don't put folded and hanging clothes in the same area in a closet... well... at least, I don't.
I hope a lot… this would be a good thing. Too many miserable people out in the world who are in bad relationships that should’ve ended a long time ago.
You know what I have never seen? An unattractive 'self-help' guru type... Me thinks this person is a front.
Me too- I feel like I would constantly be kicking the books away from me or be curled up paralyzed in the middle of the bed for fear of knocking them over.
Load More Replies...THE BOOKS ARE CUT IN HALF - half. Who does this to books? My heart hurts looking at this, I am a book hoarder and this does not spark joy for me at all!
My eyes can't make sense of the bedspread. Also, I really hate this.
Done that on facebook, all should mute people who don't bring you joy ;)
This the wisest piece of advice I've ever heard!
Load More Replies...I have totally started doing this. My feed brings me so much more joy now.
I´ll watch it. Or film it. Or make a cult out of it. We´re millions.
This is such a mood tbh. My mom is always yelling at me to clean my closet, but then what will I do when I feel feelings??
No one is gonna ever make me get ride of my books! Specially when I go to the second hands and I get books for 1€ MY RUSTY PRECIOUS
She's talking about books you will never reread/don't plan to read though. Isn't it better to give them to someone who will read them? I give away or do book swaps for books I like better.
Load More Replies...Everything on my bookshelves I have read, reread, plan to read, hope my kids will read, or they're reference books. We have a bunch of books and I'm always on the look out for more! Right now I tend to buy digital for space and portability, but I do love curling up with a good book!
All my books spark joy and I read and reread them all the time. First thing I look at in thrift stores are books. I haunt used book stores. No, not getting rid os books
I'm wondering about how she would feel about my Kindle. I currently have about 200 books on it, but does it only count as one since it takes up the space of one? Not that I don't also have way more than 30 physical books in my house.
Lmao but laughing at AOC's horseface and idiotic comments sparks a lot of joy
I'm sorry, female bartenders elected to office don't bring me joy.
Noooo, those make great lintl-ess rags for staining wood; just cut the stretched out elastic and seams off....
Old panties?? You rub old panties all over your furniture? (Yes, I was going to say “wood”, but that wasn’t the vibe I was looking for here)

Load More Replies...Women may have thicker skin for stuff like this than men do due to the unfortunate fact of having to deal with as much sexism as they do in our society. It is all too common for men to make misogynistic jokes at the expense of women, and to respond to their appropriate objections by dismissing them in emotional terms (“fragile,” “crying,” etc.). Fortunately, an awareness and rejection of such sexist behavior towards women is on the rise. Unfortunately, so also seems to be the notion that recognizing sexist behavior directed at women makes it ok (or even helpful!) to be sexist towards men. I’d like to offer a contrasting assertion: sexism is harmful to individuals and to our society, regardless of the sex of the victim.
Load More Replies...If you would make the same joke about women it would be considered utterly inappropriate. Because it is utterly sexist. Like it is about men!
Jesus.... Hans, lighten up....you aren't sparking joy right now....
Load More Replies...Right there with you sister- except I have been parked on my reclining sofa, next to a stack of books which I keep adding to but not reading that keeps falling over on me covered in the aforementioned chocolate wrappers and CATS.
Bless your heart, emma whatsapp. You are not alone. I know what you're going through. Sometimes you feel it will never end. No matter how much effort it takes please get up, take a nice long shower, wash your hair and brush your teeth. If that's all you can do today, congratulate yourself. Taking baby steps is ok. I know how heavy your arms can feel reaching up to wash your hair. And seriously, I HIGHLY recommend getting a kitty cat. If you feel it's too much to clean the litter box get the disposable ones. Can you tell I completely understand? I wish you so much luck. I hope you are feeling some love and kindness coming to you through the interwebs. We're ALL here for you! Oooooh! And I love watching comedies when I've got "The Blahs." It really helps. 😏🤗🐱🦄🦔🐼🐇🐘🐧
HAHAHA Michelle, I posted my comment before reading yours... see ref: cats. You can be my soul sister❤.

I really don't like this way of folding shirts and pants, it would be harder for me to keep everything tidy on the shelf. I tried it for my socks and underwear though and I do think it's better than how I stored them before.
Colour coordinated things (thirts?) in the upper drawer, that looks so perfect. But I do that without Marie, thanks a bunch.
It's a meme. Little girl was watching a firefighting demonstration

Alcohol. But then you f**k up your liver and get an addiction. So it would probably be better to ignore what I said and talk to family or visit a psychiatrist.
Pretty sure it's a dream sequence or thought something. But yeah.... there's a LOT

Load More Replies...I still don't understand why people are so offended by the idea that maybe they should get rid of stuff they don't need and will never use. I also saw a clip where she told someone who didn't like the kitchen utensils they had, but had no money to replace them to try to learn to appreciate them, because of their usefulness. So it doesn't seem to me that she is saying "it either sparks joy or goes in the trash". Not accumulating useless c**p that will sit forever in storage seems like good advice to me and I'm one of those people that tend to collect lots of useless stuff.
Exactly. I loved that show. It really helped me organise a lot of things. And i dont need to spend hours searching for them.

Load More Replies...i hope they are really joking and not hating this show. this KonMari things is not for everyone and you don't necesarry to do all the method, do what you can do and what you want to do. believe me, its always nice for tidying up and have less thing.
I think it's just an easy target... and let's face it, some do make some great memes!
Load More Replies...I joke about the book thing, but in all honesty, I started watching organizing videos about 5 years ago and it was a relief to realize that I was not less of a book lover if I donated books that I was never going to read again. Rationally I knew that, but psychologically I needed to give myself permission to say "I'm finished with this". And not just about books, but also the little knick knacks and things that I have been gifted but had no use for. Now to get my M-I-L to stop bringing me stuff.
Instead of "I'm finished with this" how about "It's lonely. It's time somebody else cared for it".
Load More Replies...I found and bought the manga version last year before seeing the regular book version. It's kinda like taking the sneaky back way, because it fleshes out her concepts via interactions with a fictional client. It's somewhat canned, but a gentler approach for those who need it.
I think Marie Kondo is full of it. She may be a perfectly lovely person, but her ideas are nonsense. And although she wants you to throw away books, she wants you to buy hers. BS.
I followed Marie’s advice. I thanked my sister and gave her all her stuff packed up then told her that she does not bring joy and kicked her out. (It didn’t work but worth a try) Σ(-᷅_-᷄๑)
