Dentists have it pretty hard - they're rummaging in peoples' mouths for a grin even though most of their patients are petrified and uncooperative. Luckily, there are some who think outside the box to make the situation better for everyone.

Waiting On The Dentist. But Then I Noticed Something

Hans, I can attest on this because I work with a lot of developers. It's not always possible to get the latest version of a patient record system. Depending on the language, the administration rights and the stage of development, it's sometimes better to wait one or two years rather than taking a system that is not gonna be efficient. To give you an example, my bank got their clients system updated and out of a 2h meeting, my banker had to spend 35 minutes on the phone with a technician. Also the techs used in these systems are not always compatible with newer versions, and people working on them are using obsolete techs. All in all, they are better placed to calculate the costs :)

Depends if the nerve is already entirely dead or not. If not, it COULD hurt real bad, even with sedation. I've had two in which the nerve was almost to entirely dead, and no pain at all. Guess I've been lucky too. :)

I had unbelievably strong baby teeth as a child. My mom kept all of mine, minus the last 1 that was pulled by a dentist when I was 18 (damn osha kept my mom from being able to take it home, she's still pissed). Several of the baby teeth have massive roots. They'd be loose for weeks but would never come out, so my mom always wanted to try to pull them and I'd let her. She felt numbing my gums would aid in the pulling, so she used what else? VODKA! Smart parenting that one lol. She'd soak cotton balls then squeeze all the liquid out and place it over tooth/gums for a bit. It didn't numb all the way but enough. Although it put me off liquor forever. I'm a Wisconsinite who doesn't drink. Blame mother!

I guess it depends on the procedure. Not so long ago I had finally some rotten teeth get fixed and the doctor and nurses needed me concient and awake to confirm lenghts and shapes of crowns. They'd place it at my tooth slot and tell me to bite repeatedly and asked if it feels too high, or uncomfortable in any way untill they git the lenght and shape right.

This is why this is a certified anesthesiologist doing it, and not just your local supermarket cashier. Stop going all war-like on a simple advertisement, sleeping through some dental procedures is very common, and is done after careful examination of your records. Also it's almost necessary in some cases.
