Pizza Delivery Guy Stopping For 2 Minutes Of Silence
May 4th is the National Remembrance Day in The Netherlands for those who have fallen in WWII and in later wars and acts of terrorism. At 8 PM there's a 2 minutes of silence which is widely respected. Trains and trams hold still, as everyone else does. Including this pizza delivery guy.
A touching moment where a young man paid his respect to all those affected by war.
We have the same thing in Bulgaria, but it's on the 2nd of June at noon to remember the heroes who helped liberate us from Ottoman rule.
Its a 2 minute silence while you remember those who have fought, fallen, suffered and survived. Taking a photo can be done silently and takes less than one second. So yeah, everyone. Including the person taking the picture.
Load More Replies...In Netherlands (as in Belgium) we are at the very edge of our time zone, so basically in summer it's daylight very late, at 10pm it's still clear outside

To The UPS Delivery Driver In Covington Washington That Got My Son His Own UPS Truck For Christmas Thank You So Much
My kiddo has autism and is obsessed with them so this small act meant so much to him. UPS this employee is amazing
I read this one on Reddit - the driver also brought the kiddo into his delivery truck to look around and then came back later with the toy truck. The whole thing was just so pure and awesome.
Load More Replies...I love people like that :) small things like that can mean sooo much to someone else
Amazon Guy
I am actually curious why they just leave the packages? Is it a USA thing? Here someone has to be home to sign off (and sometimes pay) the delivery. If not you can always pick the package later from an office of the delivery company.
In the U.S., it's common for packages to be left at your front door.
Load More Replies...In the Netherlands it is common to leave the package at a neighbour who is at home when you are not.
Its not common at all. Delivery people are under so much work stress they often drop them off at the post office where you can collect. Its faster for them than ringing another doorbell and wait for someone else to open. And sometimes neighbours dont want to accept it for you, this takes up too much time. The notes I get have pre written options on them, the guy only writes my apt.number and ticks the box "you can collect here...." much faster for him to move on to the next delivery, plus that way he doesnt have to try again the next day (which used to be an option on that piece of paper)
Load More Replies...On the right lower corner there is the word 'read'. Im guessing it said something like read inside or back. Thats where the message is, which is stupid because theaves can read the instruction (and thus the message) too.

My Friend's Neighborhood Rafter Of Wild Turkeys Have Taken To Following The Mailman Around As He Walks From House To House, Like Some Kind Of Avian Pied Piper
i need - no, i DESERVE to live in a neighbourhood which has wild turkeys following people around.
They can be a******s! We have lots of them in our neighborhood and constantly get caught in Turkey "gang" related turf wars. They will walk right up to the front door and peck on it. I've answered the door to a turkey several times. It is also a little unnerving to look out the window and have a turkey face staring at you. Seriously though they are entertaining when they aren't standing in the middle of the road in front of cars taking their damn time.

A week ago my dog Oliver had a stomach bug and could not eat his average food. Everyday the mailman would throw him a treat and we told him to hold off for a bit until he was feeling better. This was in our mailbox today
aaawwwwwww. ups dogs is one of my favourite facebook pages and this is an example why
The United States Postal Service Doesn't Play Games
and my mailman will not walk to the door if the package doesn't fit in the mailbox
The USPS gets a lot of c**p talked about them, but they're genuinely the largest group of anonymous do-gooders in the country.
My dad worked for the USPS for 25 years, after being Air Force in WWII and Korea. My dad didn't want his flag when he died, but I did. I went to the main post office to pick it up, and one of the gentlemen asked if he could have it folded for me. That he had been military, and that one of his jobs was to fold the flags ceremonially for families after loved ones had died. I will always appreciate the United States Post Office for putting a roof over our heads, food on our table, the ability to go to and graduate from college, and for folding my father's flag. They work so hard, people, please appreciate them!!
Load More Replies...I still don't understand why in the US packages are left in front of people's doors, are there no post offices or post deposits where the packages can be left at for later pick-up? This would immensely reduce all the package theft.
I have never had a package stolen. My girlfriend and I probably get more than 10 packages a month for 10 plus years. Going to the post office with it's stupid long lines and inconvenient hours would suck. You never know though there is a first time for everything.
Load More Replies...Jeeze, I can't even get my carrier to deliver my packages in my mailbox - just the 'oh, sorry we missed you' notices. This guy is supremely lucky to have a decent carrier.
Wow. This Christmas I sent my son a package using US Postal Service instead of FEDX or UPS thinking they probably had lost so much business to the other two. It arrived from Arizona to Oregon chewed up and torn to shreds. There was a note from the post office saying it was caught in a conveyor, too bad so sad. They didn't even attempt to apologize. You have an exceptional post office. Never again from me.
I wish my USPS was like this. Ours just tosses items on your porch and doesn't care if anything gets stolen.
How about not leaving the package just sitting outside the front door for anyone to steal?!
For As Long As I Have Lived In My House, Always Thought The Mailman Was Very Nice. He Put This In The Mailbox
This is so sweet, sad that he lost his wife but I'm glad he's turning over a new leaf
Just for info - turning over a new leaf actually means start to behave in a better way and not just a new start. No criticism meant. 🤪
Load More Replies...I give my USPS guy a small monetary gift at Christmas time. He always leaves a thank you note with art that he creates. A bird of some kind sitting on or near a mailbox. This year it was a snowy owl, last year a kestrel. He is talented!
This reminds me of my dad. He was a mailman on the same route for over 20 years, and was very close with everyone. He went to weddings, funerals, and watched babies grow up.It was very cool, and hard for him when he retired. He would also come home with bin after bin of gifts every Christmas. It was so much fun when we were kids! Lol He always ended up getting a couple hundred dollars each Christmas from the people on his route along with clothes, candy, wine, and a million other things. He's been retired for a while now, but still keeps in touch with a lot of them. :)
I don’t know... BUT WHO EVER DID NEEDS TO TAKE IT RIGHT BACK OUT OF HERE!!!!

Grandma Got This Christmas Card From Her Mailman
Damn, delivery guys in the UK never do this kind of stuff. I wake up most days to the delivery man trying to ram large packages through a disproportionately small letter box - I open the door like "Dude....why?"
I have a fairly large parcel safe for deliveries and I also have CCTV - it's good fun watching them try to shove in parcels that are still too large. That and watching them stand well back from the house as my insane dog charges down the stairs and takes a flying leap at the door!

And The Award For Best Mailman Of The Year Goes To…
Maybe it's perspective because I'm 5' 2" but gee- how tall was this mailman to get those packages up there? I would have to knock them down with a broom 🐱👓
Do packages really got stolen in there? Glad here in my country they didn't leave it without anyone to receive instead they'll text, call and email you for your confirmation whether you can or someone will be waiting for it.
Yup, or packages are left at the closes post office or deposit and they'll leave a letter in your mail box with that information. If you have close neighbors they might also leave it with the neighbors and leave a note for you.
Load More Replies...Yes it looks like it was left in the mailbox, I can see the lettering from the mailbox opened.
Load More Replies...is this an American only thing? Singing praises to the mailman who leaves packages somewhat cleverly hidden is just... weird to me. Glad our mailmans deliver mail to person and not to address :)
Not just an American thing. In the UK we enjoy our delivery people using ingenuity as well. I'm glad that they leave the parcel rather than having to trek to the sorting office to collect it. Most companies give the opportunity to describe where you want parcels left - safe place, neighbour, etc.

Postman Shows Respect In The Rain For A Funeral Motorcade That Was For A WWII Veteran
Postal workers are definitely the most under appreciated people.. them and truck drivers... without those people we wouldn't get all the things in our cities, we wouldn't get our amazon orders and we do not give them nearly enough credit. Plus just look at this post there are so many who go out of their way to show respect as well as make sure your packages are taken care of.
A lot of jobs that have no visibility are essential. Also, trash collectors (can't remember the proper English word RN). Get really pissed when I see people walking by them without even a good morning/thank you...
Load More Replies...A lot of postal workers are retired military. This is a beautiful and poignant photo, and bless this man for his respect and compassion.
Bless his heart! I wonder if he was also a veteran? I hope lots of people show the same respect for him.
Chances are from looking at the mailman, he is probably a veteran too.
I used to spend a lot of time driving long distances, and I love keeping in with a group of truckers. They're the pros out there on the road.

my rabbits before they were killed learned the hard way when chesnut(male) was eaten by a coyote to stay in the backyard and porch the hazel(female) was killed by a hawk and so her babies were too young to survive without a mom and were killed by oreo (male)who later decided to go into the road

I took a film class in college and had to do a commercial. I did one for firecrackers. My mailman agreed to do three takes of pretending to be scared of fake firecrackers going off in the mailbox. I thanked him profusely and he said "Are you sure you got what you needed? I can do more!" The best.

Good Guy UPS
Took me a second to realize, the note is on the inside of a glass door, facing inside, so a thief would just see a "sorry we missed you" tag, but the resident would see the "LOOK UP" note. Well played, UPS person.
It's a shame that our world has come to us--front porch theft. So thankful for accommodating and resourceful delivery personnel!

Southern Eastern Xpress, Guarenteed Overnight Delivery
surely they don't have this on all their trucks. When my exhusband was in the rowing crew at high school they all got big sew on badges for their jackets. The highschool started with an "S" so the crest said "Screw"
They are a well known Australian trucking company that now operates out of NSW. They have "Canberra Overnight Transport" on the curtains of the trucks that goes well with the Guaranteed Overnight Delivery bit. They also have "Dago X Press" on the trucks (Italian ownership joke). They certainly have had the SEX GOD thing on the back of all of the trucks I have seen hooking in on the east coast :D

Happy Holidays From My Mailman Tony
Meanwhile I’m having a 2 week drama with a courier company who have so far, tried to deliver to wrong house, argues with me about whether that was my house or not, then admitted fault, said it’d be redelivered the next day, no delivery, then the next day, still not delivery then the next day claimed they had delivered until I pointed out that I have security cameras which showed no delivery. Apparently it’ll be delivered on Monday. I’m not holding my breath.
This reminds me of my ups guy as well as my old mail man. The UPS guy always brings my dog a treat and hes so friendly. My old mailman Donnie was the best. He was so down to earth and he knew hed be gone the next day and another carrier would take the route until donnie got back 2 days later. He told my roommate and i that the carrier who was subbing for him was a new guy. So he told us hed pay us 20 dollars if we would throw water balloo s at the guy lol. We did and donnie came through. He did say that when he went into work that there was a balloon in his mailtruck that the new guy had put there. Donnie retired and i hope he has the amazing retirement he deserves

Nice to see the exceptions to what seems to be the rule (here in NJ, USA). In the condo building I rent, my disabled neighbor lives on the first floor, but everyone's mailboxes are inside the main entrance halfway between the first and second floors. She has her own entrance on the first floor (like several other disabled residents in this complex) and has gone online to tell EVERYONE (UPS, FedEx, USPS) to please leave her packages in front of her personal door, but not a week goes by that one of us (her neighbors) isn't walking her packages from the front door (sometimes they don't even bother putting them inside) to her door.
