Looking after someone else’s cats can be fun, but it can also be a little overwhelming if you’re not familiar with each cat’s individual sensibilities. When a Tumblr user named Amanda was tasked with watching her friend’s family of felines, she was thankfully left with a helpful note to guide her through the experience. After she posted the cheeky ‘key for the cats’ with photos of each furbaby, it was immediately clear that the descriptions she was given were spot-on.
When cat-sitting, it’s important to remember a lot more than just how the cat looks. According to international cat-sitting expert Maria Atkins, acting calm around new cats and giving them as much time as they need to feel comfortable around you is crucial. Cats rely heavily on scent, so it may take them a short while to get used to yours if it’s your first time in their home. When in doubt, however, play time goes a long way – with the occasional treat thrown in to sweeten the deal.

Adorable cats. We have two cats. My description of my cats are: Rafiki-Anna: First thing to know is my husband named her, not me. She is sweet and loves attention. I think she part Siamese because she will yowl at the top of her lungs if you do not pay attention to her or if she is generally displeased with something. She is very OCD and things need to be just so or she will yowl. Casper (I named him): He is friendly but shy. However, once he gets over that he reminds me more of Garfield on an Acid trip. He is fat and lazy and in general HATES everything. He will manipulate you into rubbing his tummy only so he can bite you hard enough to warrant a trip to the doctor. He also feels that if his food bowl is empty then he needs new food ASAP only to throw it all up seconds later. Once he has done so, he will be angry about the vomit until YOU, his human slave, cleans it up.

Totally. I describe my 2 cats as: Orange with white strips, and White with orange stripes. Non-cat people don't get it.

Calico doesn't look like someone who would talk with a squeaky voice. Patrick Stewart doesn't have squeaky voice.

The kitties are each cute in their own separate way. I LOVE fat cats, they don't know they are obese and move and play as if they were svelte. They melt my heart! =^o.o^=

When I stayed for a few days with my mother’s cat when she was on a short trip, I walked around with an open umbrella by my ankles. That was the meanest can I’ve ever known.

One of my cats oves to play fetch. He will bring you one of his toys to throw for him but unlike a dog he doesn't fall for the fake throw and hide trick.

I do something similar when I'm to be gone. There is more to Cat sitting than feed and a Butt Box ! It is wise to leave as much information on each pet as possible ( I have a small Mix Breed Dog as well)temperament , peculiar traits, Things to watch out for. Also a list of any Medicines they may be taking and how that is accomplished. Last but not least ways to contact you, and their usual Vet Clinic. These 2 are my "Babies", I spoil them because they spoil me with their trust, that I will care for them to the best of my ability !

I was expecting descriptions of their personalities, so that the cat-sitter knows how to make them feel safe. Cats get very upset when their owners are away, although at least these are a gang of 4, they have each other and they do look lovely :-)
