Hero Coach Jumps In Front Of Bullets To Shield Students During Florida Mass Shooting

You never know, when you’ll need a hero. On Valentine’s Day, 19-year-old Nikolas Cruz opened fire with an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle at his former school Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. As a result, 17 people have been confirmed dead and at least 50 were injured, but there may have been more casualties if it wasn’t for coach Aaron Feis.

According to eye-witness reports, the coach, who also worked as a security guard at the school for at least eight years, threw himself in front of bullets to shield students from the gunman. A tribute was paid to Mr. Feis on Twitter after user Angelica Losada declared that he was in a “critical condition” after his heroic act. “This, ladies and gentlemen, if the face of a hero,” she wrote.

Sadly, the fate of Mr. Feis is still unknown. Conflicting reports are surfacing on the internet, announcing that the hero has either passed away or still is fighting for his life in critical condition. If you have any news about the current condition of coach Feis, email us at rokas.l@boredpanda.com.

That's what happpens when American politicians are busier caring about guns than caring about gun control and dealing with mental health issues. Get your sh** together America, you can't keep losing your kids to these shootings because politicians are too corrupt to care!

I don't think they give a damn about who does and does not have guns...what they care about is the amount of money they get from the gun lobbyists. It is and will always be about money.

We need to stop producing automatic rifles. Hunting rifles and handguns have their place, but automatic weapons are only used to hunt people. It's not American. It's not "manly." It's not a "right" to own these weapons. I'm sick of people saying if you take my guns, you take my freedom!! No, if we take your automatic weapons, we SAVE LIVES. End of story.

In Britain It is illegal to own a gun and even owning replica gun or being found with one without a good reason is likely to get you arrested. It is only recently that more police officers carry guns and most do not. We have as much a need to protect ourselves as anyone but we do not have "The Right To Bear Arms" to do so and yet we still manage it. In the whole of Europe ,let alone just Britain we have not had as many gun shoot outs in the past decade as you have had in the US in the past year and In Britain the last school shooting happened in Dunblane Scotland in March 1996 . No guns, no school shootings. Simple.

The Dunblane school massacre took place at Dunblane Primary School near Stirling, Stirlingshire, Scotland, on 13 March 1996, when gunman Thomas Hamilton killed 16 children and one teacher before killing himself. It remains the deadliest mass shooting in British history. Public debate about the killings centred on gun control laws, including public petitions calling for a ban on private ownership of handguns and an official inquiry, which produced the 1996 Cullen Reports. In response to this debate, two new Firearms Acts were passed, which greatly restricted private ownership of firearms in Great Britain. The Cullen Reports, the result of the inquiry into the massacre, recommended that the government introduce tighter controls on handgun ownership and consider whether an outright ban on private ownership would be in the public interest in the alternative (though club ownership would be maintained). The report also recommended changes in school. If Britain can do this why not America?

OK -- Here we go with the gun argument -- the US Constitution allows people to "bear arms" and the NRA supports it's 5+ million members to ensure those rights are not infringed upon. In tragic instances like this, it is the individual who caused the deaths (would people have felt differently if he hacked people to death with a machete or ran his vehicle through a crowd of students?) According to multiple reports, law enforcement, to include the FBI were aware of this individual and potential for violence as well as in his social media accounts, yet, nothing was done. It’s a very common knee jerk response to ‘blame guns” and not blame the individual. It’s a false argument to do so. The blame falls on the individual and not the tool by which he committed the act. On a side note, with a school population of 3,100, why didn’t they have armed security on site? If they did, it’s not been mentioned in the media.

Sure, the blame falls on the person.... But it also falls on this country, where literally ANYONE can get a gun at any time. It falls on all of us, because we don't do a damn thing about it. This simply doesn't happen in other countries like it happens here. Something needs to be done, but until people are willing to stop pretending like their guns are more important than a child's life, this will keep happening.
