Since the release of the iconic Barbie doll in 1959, however, it has changed quite a bit, changing along with the ideals that society set for women. Tumblr user Tenaflyviper collected headshots of barbies from every year since 1959 and combined them in collages so we can watch them evolve.
“I was curious as to exactly how Barbie’s face has changed across the 56-year span she’s been around,” writes Tenaflyviper. “Personally, I think the molds they used from 1987-1995 are the cutest, but I was still a little girl playing with Barbies at that time, so I may be a bit biased.”
What year did you get your Barbie doll? Which one is your favorite?

Gurrl, I think Barbie was on something powerful, cause she looked hella crazy eyes, the year after.
Load More Replies...1959 has resting b***h face! Also, it looks like Barbie was on drugs throughout the 60s and 70s, finally becoming clean in 1981,after whatever the hell that happened in 1980.
'67 she came across some acid and was stunned for 9 years, then stumbled upon cocaine and kept a habit for 19 years then I guess she was in rehab/prison for 10 years, cos there's no pics for 1995-2003. I never knew Barbie was so hardcore. Damn...
Load More Replies...This isn't accurate. These aren't all the same Barbie. Mattel produces many different Barbies each year, with many different face configurations. I know because I'm one of the artists that painted them for some years. If you compare the standard mainline Barbies, they haven't changed so much. They also maintain the old Barbie look, in their collectible vintage line. What is particularly cool though, is that Barbie is available in many different ethnicities, with a lot of interesting vocations. A montage of that progression would be pretty cool.
true... and they skipped the Mackie mold that was used a lot during the 90s
Load More Replies...This is great! But is it me or is there a gap between 1994 and 2004?
Yeah missed out - they're on the original Tumblr post if you follow the link at the top.
Load More Replies...1995-2003 is the years missing... I think it's just one "image of 9" that's wasn't downloaded.
