Rock legend Freddie Mercury captivated crowds with his outstanding performances as the frontman for the band Queen. Sadly the flamboyant singer met an untimely death due to Bronchopneumonia as a complication of AIDS in 1991.

Mercury’s life has touched so many lives that he is still fondly remembered even 26 years after his death. His close friend, Elton John shared heartbreaking details about the singer’s last days in a book called Love is the Cure: On Life, Loss, and the End of AIDS. As John recounted the tragic events that lead to Mercury’s death, he emphasized how selfless the rock legend has always been. John says, that even when he fell ill and knew he was dying, Mercury still tried to take care of other people as much as he could. Scroll below to read an excerpt from Elton Johns book to find out more about this loving rock icon!

My Great Grandma did that. She was dying and I was going to be married. She passed away and a week later I had my bridal shower. I received a gift from her. Even as she was dying she wanted to make sure I received a shower gift from her. I started crying when I opened the gift and realized who it was from.

He was a talented man, no doubt. But this is what happens when artists are careless with the attention their name and money bring. It attracts a lot of sexual favours and accepting so many sexual favours is dangerous. I read about him. He was very promiscuous and he obviously didn't protect himself enough. I repect his work as an artist but his life of promiscuity, I do not respect. This should be a lesson to other famous people. Sleeping with everyone that lets you isn't the best way to live. Look at Charlie Sheen. Anyway, Rip Freddie. You're a legend all the same.

I am sure this was a random thought bubble you felt the need to expunge, but just for a little clarity...if you have unprotected sex (or even protected, condoms can break and intercourse is not the only transfer) with one person who carries the disease whether once, or ongoing that is the person you will get it from. It may be the only time you and that person have sex, it could be the first and only time, to have even had sex. His amount of sex, with however many partners has nothing to do with it, it was not accumalative, a bit from him a bit from her...Also many famous people have had steady partners for years, and that too does not mean that a one time situation does not change their lives. Sex is not always the cause, could have had a thousand partners and contracted from a blood transfusion, so really all that sleeping with everyone was not needed.
