In case you weren't previously aware, the world we live in today is plagued by double standards, which most people are happy to ignore in the name of 'keeping the peace.' When Twitter users were asked by Hashtag Roundup to share some double standard examples using the hashtag #NowThatsADoubleStandard, they disturbed that peace like there was no tomorrow.

Some of them are 'classics' that we're all familiar with; men being made to feel ashamed for crying, women being called 'bitches' because of their confidence, and the debate over who, exactly, is allowed to go jogging with their top off. To save you the trouble of combing through the busy Twittersphere, we've compiled some of the best Tweets to the thread right here on Bored Panda for your viewing pleasure. Or displeasure, because, let's face it, double standards in social interactions are pretty infuriating.

Scroll down to take it all in, and let us know what you think in the comments.

On the logic that the sad old politicians who think rape is ok but abortion isn't, but can't get it up any more, can still get a boner when they're being misogynistic a******s.

Well, in the country were I live, you can go to your family doctor and they give the birth control for free. Some other methods are not included, like the ring or the pad but they have many different brands of pills for free and also condoms.

I believe this is also relevant because how many times women have to be lectured about how they should hurry up and have kids early since it is irresponsible for them to wait later on and so on? Yet (aside from the many instances where viagra serves other purposes) limp d*ck it's nature's way of saying men should not longer be reproducing yet many are constantly defying nature. It is absurd.

The government relies on Americans to get their insurance through their employers (employer gets group rates on plans through for-profit insurance companies). However, employers don't have to provide insurance if the company is small, you only work seasonally, you work 34 or fewer hours a week, etc. I have 2 jobs, never scheduled more than 30 hours, so employers don't provide insurance. That means, if we're poor enough, we get government paid insurance (Medicaid). Otherwise, like me, we pay out of pocket for independent plans with one of the for-profit insurers. Affordable Health Care Act helped us get more choices and better prices on independent plans, but not much better. 2 jobs, 40% of my income is for insurance, the portions of medical bills not covered by insurance and prescriptions, for one adult and one college student.

Abortions are covered by taxes sooooooooo... Why should birth control. Also not every man will suffer from ED, however almost every woman will get her period. So for the insurance company it makes more sense for them to cover Viagra rather than birth control pills. Less money to spend, more money in their pockets. Also Viagra is used to create life, birth control doesnt, each drug is different from each other and has a different purpose. I live in Canada so that's how it works in Canada as far as I know. Stop comparing apples to oranges.

Not always true. Depends on your plan. This is a commonly used and baseless claim. My plan covers birth control and not viagra. My friend has a plan that covers neither. I work with people that help people sign up for ACA and many plans cover birth control.

Re: stille20. My first comment was actually meant to be a response to my second comment, and I mistakenly put them as separate. My point was that BOTH have multiple purposes and insurance covering one but not the other is illogical and detrimental. When I was a teen I was almost put on birth control by my doctor because I basically had a non stop period that was starting to lead to more serious issues. The primary purpose, as well as the secondary purpose of both is very important and should be covered by all insurances. I apologize for not making this more clear, and thank you for pointing out that I seemed to be arguing that ED medication was more important than birth control

So are birth control pills. They aren't just used for preventing pregnancy. They reduce menstrual cramps, lighten periods, they help prevent bone thinning, acne, cysts in the breasts and ovaries, anemia, serious infections in the ovaries, fallopian tubes, and uterus, pms and endometrial and ovarian cancers etc.

Depends how harmful the opinion is: "I don't like a tv show" vs. "Kill all f**s".

I don't really see the double standard here... I'm vegeterian AND I donc "discard carelessly my rubbish", so what's the point ? Is there like an "exclusively vegeterian rubbish polluting the ocean" that I'm not aware of ? It concerns everyone actually, no matter what we eat !

The pervasive presence of societal contradictions highlighted on platforms like Twitter echoes many of the themes explored in our earlier examination of how double standards shape daily life.

You might find it insightful to explore more about these contrasting expectations and their visual portrayals in social double standards depicted through powerful imagery.
