“Do You Like To Draw Flowers?”: I Paint Lilies And Enjoy The Process (12 Pics)

Today I have a big canvas and I'm going to paint near the lily pad in the garden. I already have a positive experience of interacting with the audience during the art plein air. Usually, spectators are distracting, but in my neighborhood, surprisingly, all the people are polite and kind to the artist.

In this story, I will show you my experience of creating paintings with this aristocratic and sophisticated flower. Just yesterday, I painted it for the last time with oil paints on canvas. Now this painting is drying, locked in a room where my main viewer and art connoisseur, a cat named Marzipan, cannot get in. He is a strange creature who sometimes becomes a demon, and it is difficult to escape from him, but my cat is a mix of British and Siamese, and this is a certain risk. So let's get back to the paintings.

Just yesterday, I was with my canvas and paints near my house, where I live, but the audience was unknown to me. The strangest question was:
– “What do you really do for a living?”
– “Are you learning to paint?”

Later, when I answered that I was a professional artist, they thanked me for my art for some reason. I don’t always understand them, but creativity is a really big deal, not for the faint of heart, especially when the audience gathers during an art plein air.

At the end, you can see photos of past years with lilies. For some reason, I painted them when it was dark in Ukraine. When there was no electricity and it was very dark in the house, I would take my art supplies and go down to the small garden near the house. People liked to watch this process from the windows and balconies of the apartment building because they had nothing to do.

Sometimes, when I was painting on the street, children would come up and I would let them draw on my painting. I think it’s a very bold gesture that not all artists can do.
