In our place (2 adults, no kids) we have “10s.” That means at least 10 minutes of attention to something. If someone calls “10s,” it’s the rule of law. No arguments, unless there’s something serious like illness or injury. 10s can be anything from turning off a new TV show that doesn’t please all (which just means we need to watch it alone if someone likes it), folding laundry, doing dishes, etc. It feels like it genuinely helps respect someone’s opinion without judgement and also makes mundane chores more manageable by doing small bits consistently.
