"Is someone holding these poor souls hostage and forcing them to be together?" the moderators of the online group ask on its front page.
These posts serve as a poignant reminder of the ongoing need to tackle social prejudices.

The first guy is totally wrong though. For most of history having a strong partner who could contribute to the work was crucial to the family's/tribe's survival.
To put things into perspective, 7% of Americans are lesbian, gay, or bisexual, according to a Pew Research Center survey of 12,147 U.S. adults conducted in summer 2022.
More specifically, some 17% of adults younger than 30 identify as lesbian, gay, or bisexual, compared with 8% of those ages 30 to 49, 5% of those 50 to 64, and 2% of those 65 and older.
Similar shares of men and women identify with any of these terms, as do similar shares of adults across racial and ethnic groups.

My mother had 4 sons, including me, before my sister was born. Each of us learned to knit. When my wife was pregnant with our first my sister casually mentioned the fact and I ended up knitting a snow white one piece with fairisle around the yoke and cuffs in two shades of baby blue - it was from a French pattern book, even my Mother was impressed. Turned out we had a daughter - boy were we lucky those shades of blue didn't turn her into a lesbian! I guess we dodged a bullet there. PS I can also crochet - those are some nice, tight stitches there!

People often confuse feeling excluded and feeling uncomfortable. Of course there are idiot intolerants in every movement. I know some really intolerant feminists, and some really intolerant gay people, for example. But, in general, people say they feel "excluded" when they are uncomfortable because they are forced to analyse their own ideas and biases.

He also said that everybody is created in his (perfect) image, and we should show love and compassion to all (ALL) our neighbors. Until fairly recently, anyone who wasn't straight stayed closeted because of rampant discrimination and general nastiness. Sucks to be the object of discrimination and nastiness, doesn't it? (Also, I'm straight. Overwhelmingly, the entries were either humorous or horrifying, but I didn't feel offended. There are creeps in every group. When the creeps are called out, it doesn't detract from your membership in said group or in any way blame and shame you for being in said group.)
