Why someone downvoted this question? In my country there is no need to register. You vote with passport or ID or Drivers license, to prove your citizenship.

Most people in the US don't have a passport and non-citizens can get a driver's license. Can non-citizens vote in your country?

In Czech only citizen can vote and all cities has a vote register by your adress. Homeless people are registered at city bureau.

I did some quick checking, since I'm not American. Apparently, registration varies from one state to another. Generally simple, but the US does have a history of voter suppression.

Republicans purge voter rolls all the time, in a deliberate effort to suppress voting. The more people vote the poorer their chances. They haven't won a popular vote in many many elections.

Yep, technically it is a Democratic Republic and not a direct democracy. For the presidency, we vote in our own state. The state then decides how that vote affects the votes in the electoral college. It is the Electoral College that gives votes for the president and the states get to decide how that works. Most states do a "winner take all" vote so if most people vote for a particular person, that person gets all the Electoral votes of the state. The number of votes a state gets depends on the percentage of the population of the state.

We gotta be careful this time. A few red states have said they will choose who to send regardless of the number a candidate gets or they want to hold up certification again to force it to congress which is major (barely but enough) red. When all else fails, the SCOTUS will go 6 to 3 for Trump. Of course. Harris will win the majority by a landslide but I fear Trump will be "installed."

@R Ray: And I distinctly remember, from my devoutly christian conservative years, something about, "the poor will always be with us..." and "those who do this for the least among you..." But you're right, you just summed up the republican platform to a T: poverty is incurable, so fucķ the poor. Why bother. You don't propose a better way to feed hungry children; you just vote to cut SNAP. You don't have a better program than Headstart, you just vote to defund it. You don't have a better way of housing the poor; you just eliminate as much section 8 housing as possible. You "Loooooove you're country" but resent it's most vulnerable citizens and want it's government to suffocate. Make that make sense.

Not everyone is allowed to vote - no offense meant to anyone in particular, but I am not a fan of letting certain criminals decide what is a crime and what isn't, or the penalties for those crimes.
