People In Quarantine Finally Have The Time For Cool Projects, And Here Are 32 Of The Most Creative Ones
Most of us are stumped about what to do for fun while we’re under a lockdown and stuck in our homes. We’ve rewatched the Harry Potter movies. We’ve reread all the books for the 12th time. We’ve “cleaned” our kitchens and even given exercise a go (Summer bodies, here we come!). So, what are the next exciting things to do at home?
Well, if you’re in need of some inspiration, Bored Panda has collected some awesome examples of what creative projects people are getting up to during the coronavirus quarantine. From creating formal dinner parties and movie theaters for kids to building bars, gyms, and teeny-tiny picnic tables for squirrels, these people know how to keep busy at home.
So scroll down, upvote your favorite creative ideas, and let us know what DIY projects you’re working on at home, dear Pandas.

Day 14 of quarantine, I made his table to the squirrel in the garden and I even put a bench in case you have an appointment
Improvise. Wing it. Use whatever you have. Exact proportions are not important but having fun creating it is.

Wow! Sorry! But borrowing this idea for a friend of mine wit 3 kids under 8!!

Took me all afternoon but I regret nothing
This is the cutest thing. The cat has no idea he's in fighting mode. :)
There are tons of interesting things to do at home. All it takes is some imagination and a bit of friendly advice. For instance, I’m personally planning to take down my Christmas tree this weekend. Well, maybe next weekend. We’ll see.
Folks around the world are loving the idea of hosting formal dinner parties at home. For instance, Canadians Rick and Andrea who live in Italy had to cancel their cruise because of the quarantine. Even though life gave them lemons, they made lemonade. The day they were supposed to have left for the cruise, instead, they dressed up in their formal wear and enjoyed themselves at home.

tell me about it, someone's dog broke its tail from wagging, because the human got to work from home and stopped leaving

Oh god, why am I not quarantined with someone who does all these things? My boyfriend can’t even glue two sticks together.
Why don't you do it? There are many great instructional videos on YouTube. You don't need a man.
Load More Replies...All that in one week huh, I like how you were able to get that worn look on the screens on the roof
Not to mention , did they just happen to have all those materials

It’s so beautiful!! When this is all over, let’s appreciate our world little more. Make more of an effort for each other and the earth.
That's a lovely sentiment, K. Unfortunately I think the world will probably go right back to being the way it was before, and nothing will change. Basic human nature. But let's hope that attitudes will improve and people will be kinder.
Load More Replies...I think every person on here deserves a point for spending hours and hours on a project!
Beautiful beautiful...my projects never turn out that good but have a large supply of cleaning rags
That is beautiful work. I have a large case of embroidered pieces looking for homes. It is such a relaxing way to spend time when tired of reading.
Bored Panda spoke to Rick to learn more about how he and Andrea are handling the lockdown in Italy and what they plan to do for fun in the near future.
"Dressing up reminds us of the good times we have on holidays, in particular, on cruise ships. Also, it gives us a sense of getting out of the daily routine, being under lockdown and quarantine in Italy," Rick told us about the pros of dressing up in your fancy clothes, even if you're staying in.
According to Rick, he and Andrea are hosting a Quarantine Cocktail Hour on Zoom. "Anyone who wants to join is welcome!" Rick said, revealing that the meeting ID for anyone wanting to join in is 721 899 2542. The cocktail party will happen on Friday, 3 April, at 7pm Italy time (10am PDT, 1pm EDT). Rick said that online parties are a great way to keep in touch with friends and family.
Just finished this miniature over the past four days of lockdown... Found out our state will be shut down till the end of April... I'm gonna have a whole apartment block by the time this is over
you can buy the kits on aliexpress... really inexpensive!
Load More Replies...I believe in the future people will collect 'Corona Art' the way we collect Art Deco now
Yes, that also struck me with the 'corona mask' story. I remember right after 9/11, before the flag makers and commemorative-ribbon makers got into production, people made their own patriotic art with whatever they had on hand. I saw a van that had party plates in the side/rear windows because they had a 4th of July color scheme.

Load More Replies...My daughter made this out of hot glue and painted it, then lied in wait as I found it. So proud!
My goodness, you gave me a good laugh. Thanks.
Load More Replies...Thought it was real!!! 'Til I saw the paint marks at least. Your daughter is gifted!
But what about those people who are self-isolating all alone? How can they keep their spirits up?
Here's what Rick had to say: "Plan out 6 to 8 recurring projects of about 1 to 2 hours each, each day, and make that your routine. Learn something new like healthy cooking, or a language. Practice you something you haven't practiced in a while (like the piano). Make time to call someone you haven't spoken to in a long time, they will likely be happy to hear from you. Do a little physical activity. You'd be surprised as there's lots of Youtube videos that explain how to workout at home."
Lovely! Just FYI..if you are trying to keep people from seeing your kids faces, don't use stickers, use photoshop. There are apps out there that can remove the stickers from photos.
This is not true. There is no possible way to remove the stickers and reconstruct the faces. They aren't there anymore.

My daughter is supposed to graduate high school this year, which means no prom... We already started to plan a "prom" in our yard for her.
We are making plans for our son to have a graduation party that is "all inclusive"... he and his friends with have prom, walk the stage to graduate and have a grad party all in one day.

When you can’t find toilet paper needlefelt some.
That is adorable, and I love the little pink tongue, sticking out! So creative, a keepsake memento..
I would love to buy this! This is awesome! I mean, I can't get any of the real stuff...so...
Meanwhile, Smilebox suggests that people stuck in quarantine get their hands dirty with some craft projects. Whether you enjoy painting or making modern art from paper clips, the lockdown is the perfect time to let your creative spirit loose.
You could also start your very own indoor garden. It’s fun. It keeps you busy. And there’s nothing more satisfying than cooking with ingredients you grew yourself! (Plus, it’s a great skill to have in case there’s a zombie Apocalypse waiting for us further down the road.)
Stuck in quarantine? Build a live edge table build, start to finish
Just means that the original shape of the wood is still recognizable in the furniture!
Load More Replies...Most of the time it's not. I'm a pro-contractor and see hundreds of regular people at the hardware store every day. They're buying plants and other "Non-essential" items instead of honoring the stay at home order our state has put in place. People need BS things and risk spreading a virus for their own selfish desires.
Load More Replies...Before the shelter in place order took effect in Georgia, I stocked up - and found a few beers that I've been seeking.
If you’re really struggling with coming up with new activities, you could even sort out your photos and create a slideshow for your family. Who knows, a few months from now, slideshows could become incredibly popular and shake the snoozefest label they’re stuck with now.
For those of you Pandas who are raising kids, keeping them busy can be quite a challenge. So think about building a small indoor gym for them to keep them moving and to help them channel their energy into something productive while you’re working from home. You should also think about organizing quiz nights for the whole family. It beats watching the TV every single time!
AMAZING!!! Are you gonna wear it?? Should be more protective then the t-rex suits!! Lol!

Every healthcare worker I know is staying away from home right now. Had a friend who is an ER worker drive an hour to see her kid from the window
My immediate fam is a hospital worker (chaplain) in NYC. They go home every night to their spouse and kids.
Load More Replies...Although this is really thoughtful and sweet, I saw a short video about this. His wife took of her jacket, grabbed the takeout food, and crawled right in. I was kinda cringing because I kept thinking that I hoped she took a shower before she got off work at the hospital. She was still wearing her scrubs and cuddled with her husband and dog.
Praise Jesus for all health care workers and anyone who is working in doing their job to help !
Many hospitals allow their staff to change in and out of scrubs, she probably changed into clean ones before returning home. It avoids contamination of her key, purse, car, garage door opener, front door handle etc.
Load More Replies...This is hilarious, but one question, why do they have the cue sticks, but not the rest of the game? lol
It's really common for serious pool players to buy their own sticks to take with them.
Load More Replies...Had me laughing, take all that you have and make the most of it...Thank make a salad!
I’m not an art teacher, but this is pretty awesome. Design your own design with tape, have kids use colored chalk, when finished peel the tape, and you have a masterpiece!
The mom sitting on the sofa drinking wine, whilst the kids entertain themselves, you mean? :P
Load More Replies...The chalk will wash off, after it rains.. What if the use paint...non toxic of course, and every way safe. Then it will last forever, or until painted over..

Load More Replies...That's a dangerous game. I caught one of my cats destroying a roll the other day and I told him when I run out I'm using him to wipe!
That’s a bit high risk don’t ya think? I can just see these cats absolutely destroy all that prized possessions.
Be careful with this! I started knitting these and ended up with 9 before I realized I might have a slight "problem"... LOL
If you search: "easy one square bunny patterns" (knit or crochet) Things like this will pop up. This is one that I found and used! Very easy! (I am not a sponsor of this pattern, I just found it and liked it!) https://gina-michele.com/2016/05/one-square-stuffed-bunny-knitting-pattern-2.html
Quarantine so I made a ship's wheel out of oak.
What a pang of nostalgia. My parents had a table lamp that had been my grandfather's. The switch was a ship's wheel and the lampshade had ships on it. The telephone was on the desk right next to this lamp and as a teenager, I must have spent hundreds of hours absentmindedly turning the wheel around and around - and the lamp on and off - while being on the phone with my friends.
Ha ha ha, I'm spending my quarantine time working on a nonfiction book about Noah's ark and all the reasons it wouldn't work IRL.
The Social Distancing Serving Spoon is complete! Price is $1,200 for single purchaser and $2,400 for married couples, plus an additional $500 for each child.
Well if they’re closer then 6 feet it is a weapon
Load More Replies...His pricing strategy is amazing. The market research he did on the present upper price limit for this new product is spot on. However, it is my belief that the inventor has overlooked one possible use for it: to spoonfeed a certain loudmouth that you would prefer to keep at a safe distance since the big mouth is known to not practice social distancing himself. (Though I presume that everyone within a hundred yards of him is tested once a day and report their temperature every hour on the hour.)
Yes, by the time I can afford it, I won't need it.
Load More Replies..."YOU SHALL NOT PASS! ... within six feet of other people during Social Distancing.
Omg I just read about the allegory of the spoons last night! So is he in heaven or hell?
I had a lot of time on my hands as a result of the quarantine, so I decided to build a bar in my garage
Third picture with bar. These days, ordinary people have in garage stuff to build a bar? Crazy...
That is awesome! Only things missing: alcohol & buddies to drink with!

Load More Replies...Personally I'd hate cushions that reminded me of my school days... but then I had a horrible time at school.
Yes I would like a Hogwarts crest, as well as Ravenclaw.
Load More Replies...Sell them back to the school 😃 excellent recycling! These are Nice!

First week of lockdown and I'm climbing the wallsild, start to finish
Drums tv and wall climb. The quarantine looks covered nicely.
Until the TV gets destroyed by falling off and the drums cause considerable pain from the same!
Load More Replies...This is a disaster waiting to happen with a climbing wall, TV and drum set all in the same small room.
Everyone's saying this isn't safe... my only those is that it's only like 12 feet about probably? It's gonna be like 2 or 3 climbs only! (If that)
It's bouldering, which is always short. You choose mostly horizontal routes which are difficult mostly in technique, as opposed to top rope (the one where you where a harness connected to the wall by a rope) which is taller and is generally a little bit more about endurance.

These are very cool! I am amazed by the patience and skill that some people have!
Gotta say, I am deeply envious of the people who now have more time on their hands to use... Ever since school's been out and my son has been home, I have so much less time... the house is messier than usual.. I'm more tired than usual. I get so much less done than I did before the quarantine! 😭
Is he old enough to help you transform a room or something? I loved helping to decorate when I was a child. Though if you don't have the paint... what about the fort idea? Transform one room into a fort and then when you have to transform it back - it gets tidied up?
Load More Replies...I've been working on a book off and on for a couple years. Being cooped up has motivated me to get it finished. I have gotten three chapters pretty much finished save for polishing.
I love that people are really using their time well. And I'm teaching my 3 year old how to drive a car in gtaV with a glass of wine on a Friday night.
These talented and motivated people need to stop. I've managed to make my house even dirtier by starting about 20 projects and getting distracted.
I'm just wondering how so many people have all these materials ready to use laying around their homes. I mean I guess I could Macgyver together something with scotch tape, the partially dried craft paint I bought 10 years ago, and a toilet paper roll?
They may be like us - we have a lot of paint and DIY stuff just kicking around from previous projects. Though frankly I've been in too much pain so far to do anything! Maybe next week... 🤞🤞🤞
Load More Replies...This is my first time being on bored panda. I honestly love it already.
I'm up for any project that doesn't require 8 to 10 trips to the Home improvement store.
