My name is John Wilhelm. I was born 1970 in Winterthur Switzerland where I still live together with my wife and my four kids (3 girls and 1 son).

Photography was always important in my life. My father was an experienced hobby-photographer and founded at least two local photography-associations. So I grew up in an environment of cameras, magazines, lenses, selfmade camera-baggages, darkrooms and funny weddings.

I wasn't very excited back then about those films and development processes. It was such a fiddling in my eyes.

The importance of photography changed into joy when I was holding my first digital cam in my hands. The fire was sparked off and a long journey begun, a journey through lots of camera systems, techniques, experiences and finally software products. Feburary 2011, I decided to take a step across the border of plain photography. I entered the world of photoshop and 3D-tools. That was the best thing I every did... now photography is a complete passion!

A terrible job, but someone had to teach dogs how it's done. And she probably earned the first olympic gold metal in history.

This reminds me of when a table lamp's plug exploded in my hand when I was a kid. I was surprisingly fine and uninjured. My hand was just very dirty and I was scared, but I was medically fine. But still, kids, don't play with electricity. ♥

My Mom says I put a fork in a socket. So that's what's wrong with me.

This reminds me of how I found out that in the UK the sockets in the kitchen are often as not wired into the upstairs ring-main (because it's easier to drop a spur down behind the high-level cupboards than to break through the worktop, apparently). Luckily all that happened was that the screwdriver I was using to change the socket zoomed across the room without smashing anything (due to my arm involuntarily extending with some force), but I did get a tiny burn on my knuckle: the universe's way of saying "don't mess with me, sunshine" ;-)

As a little kid, I once stuck a pair of tweezers into the live and neutral slots of an outlet. (It was a 120-volt NEMA-1 outlet.) It made a pop and blackened the paint on the outlet face … and taught me to not do that again.

I did this with a couple of butter knives when I was 5.... Tile floors with shorts and sox on meant I was propelled across the house when my legs shot out in front of me and pushed me off the wall... I still remember this very explicitly.

I found a screw once at that age and did the same; let's just say, you learn fast this way.

Reminds me of a picture my mama took of me when I was a little kid. I bought a shirt that came with a cute little tie. It looked like a businessman's suit, but for little girls. Mama put her glasses on me, and I looked like a businesswoman :) It was very sweet, she still has it up hanging in her room. 💗💗💗
