Crafting Hornet’s Mask: A Wooden Tribute To Hollow Knight
For years, my woodcarving has been inspired by the worlds I escape to through video games—masks, shields, staffs, and props that carry stories of their own. But this project is special.
Recently, I crafted Hornet’s mask from Hollow Knight: Silksong—a game my son and I both love. It was my first time creating something from the Hollow Knight universe, and carving this piece from solid wood felt like stepping directly into the world of Hallownest.
I shaped the mask by hand, refining every curve, then finished it with acrylic paint to bring its smooth, iconic look to life. But what makes this creation truly meaningful is that I made it for my son. Watching his excitement as he held the finished mask reminded me why I started carving in the first place: to bring imagination into the real world.
As an independent woodcarver, each project is a blend of craftsmanship, fandom, and storytelling. This Hornet mask marks the beginning of a new chapter—one where I explore more from Hollow Knight, Silksong, and other worlds that continue to inspire me.
If you’re a fan of handcrafted art or video-game-inspired creations, stay tuned—there’s much more to come.
