I’m very surprised that someone that doesn’t have a medical type of degree can be a medical examiner.
It really shouldn't be that way. We had a patient I will never forget. Died of some weird neurological disease we couldn't figure out. Was becoming progressively more paralyzed over time. None of us knew what it was. We even suspected possible poison. ME released her to the family with no autopsy. Bc the ME was not medically trained and did not understand how bizarre this illness was. That's when I realized how ridiculous it is that this is an elected position given to a non-medical person. It's outrageous really. Listen to this guy. His qualifications were that he transported dead bodies and took 1 online course. That's who's deciding if your loved ones deaths should be investigated or not.
