Cooking Anime Foods During Tokyo’s Spring Lockdown

Eating like an anime character is a delight, cooking like one is a level up!

This spring, during the state of emergency in Tokyo, I was binge watching anime like Shokugeki no Souma aka Food Wars, Issekai Shokudo aka Restaurant to Another World, Yakitate Japan, Bartender, and many more.

Here are some of my food creations made to imitate the anime ones. Scenes screenshotted and then redrawn by an illustrator (since I want no beef with the companies who own the rights to these animes!)

Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma (Season 1, Episode 1) – Fake Pork Roast

The Holy Grail for cooking anime fans! The fake pork roast cements Yukihira Souma’s culinary mastery early on in the anime and had fans hooked to the show. Many have tried to recreate this dish, curious as to whether it’s possible or is it just anime make-believe. Turns out – it’s very possible.
