Built more than 30 years ago, the emblematic buildings of Nossa Senhora da Conceição neighborhood underwent a rehabilitation in 2011 with the stamp of Agatha Ruiz de la Prada, within the scope of Guimarães European Capital of Culture 2012.
Parallel to the material intervention, the idea of the mural, then designed specifically for each of the faces of the four blocks, served as a basis for rethinking the northwest entrance of the city and reversing a depreciative cycle to which this area and its inhabitants were subjected.
Each of the four block murals have geometric shapes and different colors: yellow, blue, orange and red, all with a pink background.
This my photographic project for the neighborhood was developed from the beginning, because the combination of colors and geometric shapes on the murals of the buildings caught my attention automatically, but it was only in 2014 that I started to photograph the neighborhood and developed a series of photographs that are frequently updated and can be seen on instagram (https://www.instagram.com/maccarreira) or through the hashtag #BairroNossaSraDaConceição.
