Regardless of when you think "the good old days" actually were, many of us harbor a special respect for the past. These photos show people that had an appreciation for style, taste and class that seems to be harder to find these days.

If you have a photo showing what class looked like in "the good old days," we'd love to see it! Please add it to us or let us know about your favorite time period in the comments.

It seems to me that black people show more respect for their houses of worship than many whites. They always seem to be dressed in their Sunday best. I go to a predominantly white church and see torn jeans, low cut sundresses, extremely short mini skirts, tight sexy clothing, you name it. Maybe it's an 80% well dressed to 20% slovenly dressed crowd, but to me the 20 % are just disrespectful. The boys in the picture look great!

That's Stuart Suttcliffe. He was a talented artist and their first bass player while they were in Hamburg. Then he fell in love with Astrid Kitcher (the photographer who took this photo) and stayed in Hamburg with her, to go to art school. Paul then became their bass player. Unfortunately, Stuart died of a brain hemorrhage in his early twenties.

Accident. When he was a boy he liked a girl, but he had competition so they fight and the ohter guy broke Bowie's eyes. For good. So it doesn't work anymore and that's it. Both eyes are still of the same colour, but look different, because one has a rigid pupil (dead eye). David Bowie remained friends with the guy. He said he understood because the anonymous girl was so pretty. Hahaha. What is not to love about David.

Robert Redford came to the law offices I worked in, D.C. - one of the partners was his atty. for environmental stuff. He was incredibly handsome, but not very tall. Paul Newman lived in Westport, CT when I lived there after moving from D.C. - again, very handsome, and not very tall. I think John Wayne was tall, and Cary Grant.

this was probably taken the morning after the night she received her Best Actress Oscar, so I believe it can be considered classy! :-) (meditating on the vanities of life)

Looks more "mod" than "hippie" to me. Love those tights though.

I really like what they're wearing. And that style is making a slow comeback.

His name is Walter Deane - I don't know that he is credited anywhere, but he was my uncle and he knew George Lucas as a little kid. George would visit him in his mechanic's shop. Walter had a reputation for being a master mechanic who could make anything run. Years later, George Lucas visited Walter in his shop and told him he was the inspiration for his idea of the Millenium Falcon - something that could outrun anything in the universe but was always breaking down and cobbled together from scrap.

LOL, the man who looks like Matt Smith was named Archie Deane, my grandfather. I never realized the resemblance until you mentioned it - thanks!
