still find it weird that people think this movie is 'glamorous', while totally ignoring the story. Holly is 18. She was forced into marrying a man at least 3 times her age, when she was 14, so she could look after his family of children. She was denied an education. She escaped, changed her name, and became a child prostitute in NY, to survive. She was stalked by her "husband", despite her efforts to escape. Her "boyfriend", enabled the stalker, by deceptively arranging a meeting, despite her protests. She becomes a "messenger" for high-end drug dealers, passing on coded messages to them in jail, for cash. All of this to survive. She drinks all night, and sleeps all day, in order to forget her past, and to try and find a rich husband. She ends up with the man that enabled her stalker to find her. Even the original author objected to the intentional glamorisation of child prostitution. But sure, the clothes are pretty. :(
