Woman Finally Films The Mysterious ‘Lover’ That Has Been Bringing Her Flowers, And It’s Not What She Expected
Who doesn’t like getting flowers? Regularly? From a secret admirer? That’s a classic recipe for getting through the day, no doubt. When Rosie from the UK noticed pink flowers regularly appearing on her terrace, she had no clue who had been behind them. One day, however, the cat was let out of the bag.
It was Willow, her neighbors’ kitty! “For a while, it was just a legend that it was her until yesterday when I was cooking and spotted her jumping down with a pink flower in her mouth,” Rosie told Love Meow. “I was so excited that I went to film it because she’s so cute and I’d never seen a cat ever bring back anything but dead animals before.”
Willow loves everyone, and everyone loves Willow. She frequently visits people from all over the area and in return they give the kitty treats and pets. Sometimes, even a spot on their couch!

When I was young, we had a cat called Elvira, who liked to pick tulips. She'd bring home a tulip head every day, and give them to our mother. One day, we found out where they had come from. There was a neat row of tulip stalks in one of the gardens of our road, without heads!

This is not uncommon behaviour in cats. At its heart it is a modification of a cat's instinct to bring prey home for its growing kittens, with the prey having been replaced by flowers, socks, or whatever particular obsession a cat gets into it's head. I had a friend once whose cat used to bring home the dried leaves of umbrella trees - from what we could figure it was the rustling sound that it liked. My friend would sometimes end up with a dozen or more leaves on the front mat, which was all the more notable for the fact that we never figured out where in the neughbourhood the actual tree grew! The othe surprising thing was that the cat was male - we didn't expect a male cat to display that instinct.

City cats have been observed making sure the kittens / pregnant and lactating cats eat first. One day I will find that report again.
