Mum may of asked for his consent, though yes he was distressed when pictures were taken but the post may of been made at a later date. But yes, if the bully's see it, will most likely make matters worse

raising awareness of bullying is fine. Documenting and publicising your child's trauma when bullied, is just a tad narcissistic, at best. When you're feeling humiliated and traumatised, with swollen eyes from crying, do you want the one person who's meant to be your safe-space, take your photo, post it online and tell everyone "look how humiliated my partner is, after being publicly ridiculed in front of their peers."? I don't know any adult who actively wants their low points made public. If that's your thing, as an adult, to have your humiliation publicised, cool. it's your adult choice. A kid, isn't in a position to make that choice... because they're a KID.

She's the bully. Good parents don't raise fragile children. She's even giving a demonstration of her technique. He's not upset because of what they did on this one occasion so much as what she has done throughout his life. If you agree with her, and that normal childhood behaviour that is a part of the process of maturation is itself problematic, if you agree that avoidance is a solution, if you agree that a parent's job is not to teach children how to navigate those problems - i.e. not to give a man a fish but to teach a man to fish - then please don't have children until you learn to be an adult yourself. There are too many abused children in the world as it is. They're growing up into spoiled, unbearable adults.

Yes. It's far worse what she is doing. The teasing is a one-off thing. It's an opportunity to learn from. She not only denied him the opportunity to learn and grow, but made it into a significant statement of his powerlessness and ineptitude, fashioned the experience into a semi-permanent object, guaranteed that it will repeat, and broadcast it into the minds of other children and carers of children. Those kids were being kids and the right response would have nurtured and nourished him. Instead, she plants a poison seed in not just his mind but the minds of potentially millions. Encouraging other women particularly but also men to also instill this idiotic fear and infatuation into the minds of children. It's an obsession verging upon mental illness. It's like when people became aware of the term "OCD" then every girl and her cat suddenly have OCD because they have habits, or when they heard "trypophobia" and now every girl and her cat has an irrational fear that negatively impacts their life because they can imagine a discomfort. This is the same thing as that. Along with racism, sexism, fascism and nazism... People need to clarrify the semantics. It's either: bullying is not kids simply being kids, which sometimes involve being mean or harsh by which they test their own and each others' boundaries, strengths and weaknesses, learn together and grow together; OR if it is, then it's not a problem but a normal part of life. It can't be both. I would say that bullying is approaching the extreme to where the behaviour can predictably result in actual harm. Some kids might not be as well equipped and more susceptible to succumbing to their fears of these normal, natural behaviours. Those kids will benefit from special attention, maybe in the form of special education or encouragement. Probably most often just in the form of structured exposure, or activities that promote exceeding and expanding comfort zones. NOT: all children are evil. NOT: natural behaviour is malign. People have to stop pathologising normal, everyday, healthy things and take responsibility for their own response to them. Adults have to allow kids the opportunity to be kids, even if they never gained full advantage of that opportunity themselves. Even if they continue to avoid doing so. People, particularly females, have gotta just back. The f**k. Off.

I was expecting worse. I'm glad, looking in these comments, that a lot of people see what she did as inappropriate. I'm disappointed that so many are describing a situation as bullying simply because one kid cries. Particularly when presented with an example of what he inherits from his mentor. But, I was expecting worse. As for the kid, hopefully he learns how to deal with his mum's destructive tendencies.

You could also drop the bullshit that this site isn't one enourmous orgy of hypocrisy. Why defend what you know isn't true, even if in this one instance is almost is?

No children were harmed in the story above until mum got involved. Now not only is he humiliated on the bus, but all across the internet, and not only on one day, but potentially for the rest of his life. Kids say s**t, kids interact, and kids learn how to interact, how to deal with events. That's not harm. That's growing. No more harm than the pain of bones lengthening. When will women face their own abusive nature and learn to stop abusing young men, instilling their own fears and fragility? So frequently committed for their own social motivations.
