These 50 Pics Show How Dystopic Our Society Already Is, And Maybe They’ll Inspire You To Change Something
What comes to mind when you think of a dystopian universe? is it Dali-esque surrealist landscapes or is it a more realistic world like 'The Handmaidens Tale' or '1984.' Well, according to the late Brtish academic and cultural theorist Mark Fisher, we are already living in a present-day dystopian society and folks - it is very boring.
The term 'boring dystopia' was coined by Fisher in 2015 and refers to the subliminal coercion that abounds in a capitalist society. So subtle that unless you're looking, you might not realize these problems with society are actually already happening. Charlie Booker's Black Mirror is the closest fantasy depiction of this theory, with his episodes questioning how far is too far when it comes to our evolving technology and how close we are to the dystopian future.
However, for real-life examples of this theory, and social issues coming together with, it look no further than the sub-Reddit titled 'A Boring Dystopia,' which is dedicated to sharing images that are disturbingly unassuming. From the poster that reads "Sleep deprivation is your drug of choice. You might be a doer," or a bus passing by with bold black letters stating, "You don't need therapy you just need a new car," the following photos may make you question every society problem in a different light.

Teachers Gifted Supplies For Their Classrooms ...on A Talk Show
This is wrong. Talk show should have donated those stuff to Pentagon. Obviously US ARMY needs more funding to defend the freedom. /sarcasm

We pay sports stars and entertainers billions and we don't invest in our education system. Then we wonder when the next generation is not at all equipped for life.
it's the result of "extremist capitalism". In moderation capitalism is great. In the extreme this is what we get
Load More Replies...A country that doesn't value education is a country that in a couple generations will be supplying the world's sweatshop labor.
The countries that supply the world's sweatshop labour value education very highly and parents make great sacrifices to ensure that their children get an education.
Load More Replies...Well someone has to do it. We all know the city government to whom their parents pay tax dollars certainly isn't going to do it.
I worked at a school. Most of the kids were from low income families. The teachers spent money out of pocket to buy things that they and the children needed. The schools are always underfunded. But I heard them discussing the salaries of the Principal and Vice Principal, and I was shocked at how high their salaries were.

Here's the thing: yes, it is sad/pathetic/deplorable/shameful that this situation exists. But every time someone - groups or individuals - step up and even attempt to help, the bitching and cynicism is immediate and overwhelming. Yes, it may be just a drop of water in the desert, but can we shelve our bitterness long enough to celebrate positive action and encourage growth in that direction?
People gift various things all the time. Some of these people are, regretfully, brash and boastful. It's not that schools receive gift _only_ from people on TV shows, as the title suggest.
I’m not gonna argue against anything that puts supplies in the hands of school so that need them. And if something as widely public as Good Morning America is bringing attention to the issue, that can’t be a bad thing
Underprivileged. I read this word a lot nowadays, except that I seem to recall going to a school that had dirt floors, no food programs, teachers that hit you and leaky ceiling, yet I have a master's degree. The only problem I see are entitled, privileged children with bad attitudes and even worse parents. These kids kill over sneakers and phones. My roof was made of aluminum siding. People complain about police killing criminals and being police state or something. We were afraid of our neighbors walking in and taking shoes or pots. America is like a bizarro land. Even the worst off here have access to education and nearby college. And there's food everywhere and free clothes. Free food, free clothes, free education.
Same all over, why can't the government do it bit for education instead of others having to do it.
It is good that a wealthy organisation donated supplies to an underprivileged school. The value of the publicity and goodwill that GMA generated for itself would be far in excess of the value of the school supplies. Not charity, but practical business operation.
Karl Marx was warning about this? Someone clearly hasn't read the manifesto. Marx said a lot of things, but this wasn't one of them. Later in life he dabbled in the stock market, and only held any form of formal job for a very brief time in his entire life. Not sure he's the go-to guy for guidance anyway.

Get ill in America with no insurance and go to the ER. They still have to take you and treat you. And they pretty much know they're going to write it off afterward. (Speaking as a doctor who deals with that all the time)

Ruled paper, pens, pencils, binders. All the tv and radio stations promote the event and the most successful counties get on tv/radio to thank the donors.
So the community gets in gear and donates supplies. And you think that's bad? Because only government should be Santa Claus.
Load More Replies...All Marx did was provide the people with another opiate that the power hungry utilized for their own benefit. Marx was also oblivious to the reality of human nature that those who hold government power (even in a socialist state) will never willingly give it up.
Well the important part is that the government doesn't give a damn about eduction.

You think we like having a president who puts immigrant kids in concentration camps? You think we like leading the charts in obesity? No. We don't especially like any of that. So please stop acting like the entirety of America is shooting each other in the head. Because we aren't. Only a few are.
If you don't like the state of things in the USA, get off your a*s and make sure that you are registered to vote. If not, go register! Do your homework on candidates, and cast an informed ballot in November. If you don't vote, you don't count.

These are just awful. I guess an up vote means they are awful-er than the others. But I wanted to down vote them. So sad.

I hear and read americans complains about their country, but I've been there once 10 years ago. It's a wonderful country. It have some problems but if i look at the big picture, USA is a huge amazing place where everything is possible. Americans that complain about this country, please come to live in my country for a while and then tell me what do you think about USA.
People complained when Obama was president, was that a fashion?
