What comes to mind when you think of a dystopian universe? is it Dali-esque surrealist landscapes or is it a more realistic world like 'The Handmaidens Tale' or '1984.' Well, according to the late Brtish academic and cultural theorist Mark Fisher, we are already living in a present-day dystopian society and folks - it is very boring.

The term 'boring dystopia' was coined by Fisher in 2015 and refers to the subliminal coercion that abounds in a capitalist society. So subtle that unless you're looking, you might not realize these problems with society are actually already happening. Charlie Booker's Black Mirror is the closest fantasy depiction of this theory, with his episodes questioning how far is too far when it comes to our evolving technology and how close we are to the dystopian future.

However, for real-life examples of this theory, and social issues coming together with, it look no further than the sub-Reddit titled 'A Boring Dystopia,' which is dedicated to sharing images that are disturbingly unassuming. From the poster that reads "Sleep deprivation is your drug of choice. You might be a doer," or a bus passing by with bold black letters stating, "You don't need therapy you just need a new car," the following photos may make you question every society problem in a different light.

To be fair, those stairs are really badly made and could seriously hurt someone. No support under the sides and the rail supports rest on those unsupported sides.

I don't know in Canada, but in France, you can't build anything on a public place . If any accident happen because it's non conform, the city would get in trouble and poursue the builder. So that would end up in the destruction of the stairs here too. What makes the situation ubuesque is that 65K $ cost. Who would charge this? what city would accept to pay for this? it sound like someone in the city council is going to have a swimming pool build for free as guift by the enterprise who made the estimate....

Im sorry tf, I live in toronto and read about this, they tore it down, because it was unsafe and many elders were getting injured on them they also said it would cost $650 not $65,000

Those stairs were clearly built by someone who has no knowledge of engineering or building. Not only that, but even if they were constructed appropriately from dimensional lumber, that sort of residential-grade construction is simply not appropriate for such heavily-used commercial/public areas.

Tobias Meiner

You realise that you can't build anything in a public area (local government property) without proper permission and local authorities are obliged by law to remove any illegally built structure. Furthermore, structures like the stairs need to comply to specific codes so that no user will sue the local authorities (technically, local council is responsible for all structures built in public spaces). Of course, even most harsh compliance rules won't make crank up the cost in the 65.000 area. Sure, city officials can heavily inflate prices for nefarious purposes, but this is what local elections are for. In any city inhabited by aware citizens such council member won't be in office for long.

most likely he did it without permission. there are safety codes to follow, if they can't get it approved (which costs money) they have to remove the structure in case it's unsafe. Not to say they're not extortionate with time and money but in this case It's probably not just "oh noes they tore it down to f**k with everyone", it's probably in breach of a whole ton of c**p

To build a small playscape in a public park or public school well over 2/3 of the cost is for city permits, city licences, and city studies.

These incidents are horrific. But almost always, the shooter has a mental illness, or has been bullied endlessly, while the schools do nothing about it. That's not to even mention cyber bullying, which has led to many suicides. Guns can be obtained illegally, or stolen from someone they know. Sad all the way around.

I live in a country that's been through the war relatively recently. Lots of people kept their guns after the war in their homes (still do). I can imagine in many cases it wouldn't be stored/hidden properly and it would be accessible to the curious kids. I've never read a news about some kid even firing a gun, let alone about the school shooting.

In my home town there was no school bus so all the country kids and half the city kids drove to school in daddies spare pickup. Younger kids road in the back. Half the drivers were under 16 and couldn't yet get a driver's licence, but it was cool with the Sheriff. Every pickup had a gun rack fully stocked with guns. Other guns were left on the front seat. Doors where never locked, nor were windows rolled up. Nobody was ever shot. Guns are not the problem.

you are completely correct that type one is nothing to do with weight that is type two but just wondered why you think this ad is referring to type 1? It says juvenile and plenty of young people have type two, sadly in America & Europe type 2 diabetes is on the rise because of poor diet, sugar is the number one issue.

Educate yourselves about Type 1 diabetes!!! It's an autoimmune disease. Diet and exercise HAS nothing to do with the cause of Type 1. The body attacks and kills the beta inslet cells of the pancreas. Stop the stigma! This is just another reason why more needs to be more education. All the uneducated comments about diabetes proves it! I find the uneducated comments offensive for my 18mo old daughter who has this autoimmune disease of Type 1.

Backlash and the fact that 'Like and Subscribe' is already a name of popular Youtube podcast apparently forced the account holders to fold. Based on the ATM symbol ("bankomat" on yellow background with Raiffeisen logo) and the uniform of the paramedics it is from Croatia. The photo dates back to September 2016, and the Photographer's name is Sandra Krunic. The original title of this photo said something about American healthcare, which doesn't fit.

The original post was originally titled "American Healthcare" but was changed when a reader noticed that the pic was not taken in America. The original photo includes part of the bank name "Raiffeisen Bank" so the pic is likely taken in Romania. Where, incidentally, they do have a universal healthcare program. american-h...33b830.gif american-healthcare-5b9ab5d33b830.gif

Pretty sure that if this was actually America, and if this guy was in any type of serious danger, there is NO way the EMT's would EVER do this....really, even if the guy just had a twisted ankle, they would never waist their time doing this....

Yeah, and? You realise that you may need money to pay for e.g. cab on your way home or food in a cafeteria? Man on the gurney looks like he is in good shape with possible trauma to lower appendages (as corroborated by a crutch). He is possibly carted to the clinic for a check-up. The yellow sign above says 'Bankomat', suggesting this happens in Austria (in Germany it is 'more often 'Geldautomat' and Polish ambulance drivers wear different uniforms). Like most European countries, Austria has universal medical insurance.

Dear Toby, I am from Spain. We are not great but for us take a cab is different (very much) from healthcare which is a basic right. We have public and free healthcare so we never are exposed, always covered. And trust me, it is great although I have to pay on my taxes for other people's health. We are proud of it.

This one doesn't belong on here. The totality was really cool, and yeah, if you wanted to photograph it you would need more time to prepare. And yeah, they could have just as easily made it 5 minutes, but, I mean, when I was watching it, it was really amazing and cool...for about 30 seconds. It got boring fast. And it passes fast. So yeah, a little more time would have been better, but they didn't really need 10 mins and they didn't have to do that at all. It was nice, I think.

I have, on more than once occasion, looked at 'display only' books and found the occasional first print of an out of print book and offered to buy it from the place. Sometimes I've bribed employees to get me the book, sometimes I've smuggled it out and left a hefty tip to cover the theft. The best two I've found was a first edition printing of The Patchwork Girl of Oz and a first edition of Tarzan and the Foreign Legion (the only one Burroughs commanded collaborated with his artist son on). Stuck in decoration bookshelves with random Encyclopedias and Tom Clancy novels. Both of those the place let me buy them for around $5 when I told them that the books were ones that my Nana read to me before she died. True, but not specifically why I wanted them.

Then put out fake books! Real books are for reading. 📚 Personally I would be more likely to consider returning to your hotel if the books were actually there for customers to enjoy while staying with you. I idea that you display books a only a decoration would be seen as a negative though!!!!

There's a reason why France tried as hard as possible to avoid going to war in 1940 and the Germans, who had suffered hunger because of the Allied blockade but hadn't seen war in their country, were so eager for 'revenge". In 1945, with many German cities in ruins, the Germans finally understood what war brings, not only the dead soldiers, but also the dead and displaced civilians, the devastation, the hunger and the slow rebuilding afterwards. The US, however, who hasn't had a war on it's territory since the 1860s (and remind yourself just how the Civil War is portrayed in US media compared to WW1 or 2 - those last two are "heroic", the first one is "a tragedy"), actually profited from the war - the industry which was expanded for the war now turned towards the rebuilding of other countries and the Cold War, so the US economy was booming. It's no wonder the lesson they gleamed from it is "war is good for business... and business is good".

Humans have always been at war and always will be. If it's not religion or race, it will be eye color or something equally stupid. There's "us" and there's "them" and it's built into our brains. The U.S. isn't free of that, but neither is any other country. The history of war goes back as far as human history does.

Sorry Ashley, this is not aimed at you! Though you might have the answer. Why do people say empathy when they mean sympathy? Empathy is the ability to understand and share the feelings of another which most of us are really not able to do in this circumstance. Though if any of you are a suicidal rock star I beg your pardon. To empathise you have to have similar experiences so you can genuinely understand. People mean sympathy! Sympathy = feelings of pity and sorrow for someone else's misfortune. Why has sympathy been dumped for empathy? I'm genuinely curious! Though back to your comment Ashley - wish I knew.

The investors should force the airline to fire all the employees! That would save millions of dollars in costs! (The company will also go bankrupt in weeks because revenues will cease to exist, but that is just a minor detail)

Fun fact: the date (and time) shows up in your app the way you have have it set on your device, even if the message is posted somewhere they use a different format — unless it’s actually part of the text someone posts. It’s not, here. So when he tweets at 5am, Eastern Time, it shows up on my device with the time displayed in Pacific Time, 3 hours earlier.

They're all worded as teleprompter fluff anyway. Name me one politician who actually sounded like they spoke from the heart.

To be fair, it's not up to parents to spend any money on their kids after they turn 18. My parents never paid for education, a car, a deposit on a house etc for me. I've done well and it's all down to me (and emotional support from my parents)

I'm so glad we don't have to pay for college in my country. We have four years to finish our bachelors' degree (which normally takes 3 years) - if we aren't able to finish it in those four years, than we have to pay.

Parents have ZERO obligation to pay for their grow child's college education. I absolutely hate that American culture implies that kids are owed a college degree to the financial detriment of their parents. Parents owe themselves retirement at a decent age and financial security for later in life, let your grown children pay for their own education like the adults that they are.

Yeah! The average teenager rarely if ever has a bank account with enough money to pay for college or university fees. Most patents take out a mortgage on their homes to pay for the schooling. Also most kids will be workig on the side to help fork out the tuition fees. Make America great for once by stopping playing cowboys and making wars throughout the world. Make America great by having a decent healthcare system and free higher education. This will be a good start to making the USA come up to European standards. Make peace not wars please.

In order for something to be a joke, it needs to be funny. In a society where people remain in debt for years and years on end to pay for student loans this is anything BUT funny. We're not missing sense of humour, you're the one who lacks the empathy to take serious things seriously.

How come dark humour is a sign of dystopia? Not to mention that in most countries education is free (for the good students at least), so it is more likely a localised problem. And I would really love to live on a world where any young adult would be able to pay for college with their own money.

To clarify, these are supposed to be used with English language learners. English and Spanish share the same alphabetical (although Spanish has a few additional letters), however, some of the letters have different sounds in each language. These posters are to help the leaders remember the correct English sound of each letter.

I can understand some people's aversion to this (which I share to some extent), but these are perfect "real world" examples... rather than the generic abstractions typically used. Also, we don't see the entire alphabet, so there's no idea if they used logos for all of it.

I worked at a school. Most of the kids were from low income families. The teachers spent money out of pocket to buy things that they and the children needed. The schools are always underfunded. But I heard them discussing the salaries of the Principal and Vice Principal, and I was shocked at how high their salaries were.

Here's the thing: yes, it is sad/pathetic/deplorable/shameful that this situation exists. But every time someone - groups or individuals - step up and even attempt to help, the bitching and cynicism is immediate and overwhelming. Yes, it may be just a drop of water in the desert, but can we shelve our bitterness long enough to celebrate positive action and encourage growth in that direction?

I've been in the habit for years, where I do a search then immediately scroll down to approximately where I think the true results begin. I never find what I'm looking for when I click one of those promising looking ads. I'm one of the countless millennials who have been unconsciously trained to tune out ads. So They ain't making a dime off me (love ghostery and ad block and I do periodically turn them off if I think a site is actually needs and deserves it eg. WuxiaWorld).

You know, I don't think what we see here is so bad. Hear me out. Google is meant to search for you things that you want. If someone wants to commit a suicide, that's not some softwares' problem nor its duty to convince them otherwise. Yet someone programmed it as even if noone around you offered you help, some automatic, lifeless and emotionless system made of zeros and ones - will show you there's another way. I find it rather soothing than terrifying, this image. Someone cared, even if a search engine wasn't build for anything but giving you specifically what you asked.

Google, Youtube, Twitter, Facebook and similar services are private companies, not social care institutions. They exist to generate revenues and thus there is absolutely no reason for them to help their users more than they help their sponsors. The main problem is that users are OK with that and do not demand bigger diversity on the market turning to the competition for better services. It's not new either, this is how the telephone services market looked like in the late 70's.

It's not so much about the actual meaning of the words here I believe, but that they so closely mimic the classic lines from one of the most famous dystopian novels of all time, 1984: “War is peace / freedom is slavery / ignorance is strength.”

Actually, cash is freedom in that it's anonymous. No credit card receipts, no paper trail. Consider that.

Of course that cash gives freedom and control. This is why people who have no cash (or no money by extension) are called 'underprivileged' and suffer from lesser social mobility, more narrow lifestyle choices etc. Seriously if this wasn't truth, we would have to say that poor people are as well-off than the rich ones and they do need concern of others.

So, the statements on the receipt have always been true - the surreality (I don't know if it's necessarily dystopic) comes in the moment in which seeing the statements printed force you to be aware of it. That said, s**t that's creepy!

Look, I'm an atheist but if I know anything at all about the world it's that if your church looks like this, there isn't going to be anything there for you to feed your soul with. My Nana, the best human being I have ever known or ever will know, was a life long Methodist, and her small modest church had more heart and soul and love in it then every mega church I've ever seen or heard from put together. This picture does not surprise me in the least. Mega churches: fiscally overloaded, morally bankrupt.

Good! Doubt is good! Most religions disgrace doubt, but doubt leads the discovery of knowledge and truth. If you don't doubt, you're easy to manipulate, but it's hard to take advantage of someone who knows better. Think about why you might believe in Christianity - is it really so different from the religions you DON'T believe in?

So they mean everyone who is judgemental ("Judge not, for you will be judged in kind"), or biased towards race, gender, sexual orientation, political affiliation, or religious beliefs? I think the minister of the church should start reading the bible as a whole, instead of paraphrasing selected verses and combining them to make them SEEM to tell the story that Jesus NEVER SAID

Dystopia is our nature and destiny. Satire affords the human species an imagined pause on our inevitable descent. We threw a glass bottle into our past and it was thrown back, a signal moment of recognition that our future is the trash that we are. "The Gods Must Be Crazy" because we've imagined ourselves sane and invented gods who would save us from our own downward spiraling feedback loop.

Not reported: whether anyone else asked for 2 scoops but only got one. I suspect everybody got a scoop and Trump just said, "Hey give me another." "I only got one scoop of ice cream." Funniest first world problem ever. But it made CNN's headlines.

This was a legit story from 2010--Sunchips had come up with a new biodegradable bag, but people were complaining it was way too loud--some claimed it contributed to hearing loss. I can't make this stuff up.

The Sunchips bag is something you encounter at the store down the street. A bus crashing in Nepal has literally zero to do with your life. This isn't insensitive in any way, shape or form. Less news needs to be about tragedy we can do nothing to prevent, in a place we'll never see, to people we'll never know.

Ah yes, the classic feel good story where we're supposed to feel good over a situation that should never have to exist in the first place. See also school teachers winning free school supplies, homeless people being treated with basic human kindness, and successful gofundmes for medical bills. News flash: even most people who are lower income and HAVE a huge work ethic or chose to continue working don't make those choices or gain those ethics in a vacuum. Somewhere there was someone teaching them those values who probably DIDN'T get a choice so just made the best of it .Probably the ones who are choosing it not out of beliefs would probably make different choices if their lives were different. You can't know what you'd choose until you really get that sort of freedom. That's reality.

Luckily I live in a country where you get payed off maternity leave a few weeks before the due date and after the baby is born. If you start with work and you are still breastfeeding, you get even time at work to pump. A lot of big compenies have also pump rooms, so you can do it in peace. So sad to know that people have to work until they explode. When you are 8,9 months pregnant even putting socks on is difficult.

Nope. It wouldn't be illegal in...anywhere. If the company told her she COULDN'T have off before or after the birth - that would be illegal. If she chooses to work, it's a totally different story. And unless advised by an OBGYN, nobody's putting anyone at risk. If there are underlying issues it becomes risky, but otherwise - no. My ancestors would squat in the forest, deliver by themselves, then toss the baby in a papoose and keep picking berries. I think Europe has it right, and their laws are wonderful. I just thought like seeing a mother railed for her decision, when it's a perfectly acceptable practice for 90.2% of the Earth's population.

People shouldn't have to go into massive debt to get an education. Many providers of student loans are shameless bloodsuckers. Some people wind up paying more interest than actual loan. How can that not be downright criminal? And no, you snarkmeisters, these people did not major in 13th Century Incan Pottery - they got honest degrees that should have helped them get well-paying jobs.

People don't necessarily have sex with a sugar daddy. There are all kinds of arrangements to be made. Personally, I'm of the opinion sex work should be legal and regulated. We all already sell our bodies in one way or another; this way of doing it just happens to have moral judgment attached to it.

People who "live " in Walmart or McDs are usually low-income and have no other choices because corporations like Walmart's and McDonald's don't pay enough and have eliminated competition creating food deserts. And most of those people have to walk because they can't afford a car.

When the whole clown murdering spree was happening, our school got a threat the evening before a school day that clowns would start killing kids at 12:00 pm. That day there were at least three extra police officers added to our daily onsite officer. Just before 12 in class, even though the teachers told us we were safe, we couldn't keep our eyes off the clock and we feared for our lives. I think that was the first time I ever felt true, primal fear in my life.

I'm sorry, but I don't feel sorry for someone who committed cold blooded and/or premeditated murder, with no regard for their victim's pain. Those victims have loved ones who are going thru a lot of pain, and this will affect their lives forever. These murderers have zero remorse for what they did. The only thing they feel is regret at getting caught, and now convicted. What did they think was going to happen, a slap on the wrist and be released back into society so they have the freedom to create more victims?

In the UK, there's a program about bailiffs called "can't pay, we'll take it away" it's extremely depressing to think that some people consider seeing the less well off having their posessions taken away publicly to be a source of entertainment.

This looks like it's aimed at management that ignores workers' bad conduct, because they happen to be good at their job or they just don't think it's a big deal. It makes sense the campaign would tackle the issue from this angle, as this is the only way to get through to these people. Still s****y, but I get it.

This is aimed at management who may think that they do not need to act, because harassment is 'private matter' that can be resolved by courts with no company interference. Also, this is so 'called 'a*s cover' - if such memo is distributed, managers can be punished for harassment among his or her subordinates, because this is not only behaviour unbecoming of a decent person, but also a willful action detrimental to the company standing, what is most often grounds for immediate disciplinary firing. A kind of 'don't turn a blind eye, you have been warned' kind of information.

Also bottled water often comes from a tap. Multiple double-blind studies in the US and Europe have shown that consumers not knowing what they are drinking often ranked tap water higher than bottled water. That’s why I’m absolutely certain the button on the right side will give you cold tap water.

Also, according to a new Ca. law, the "youth offender" goes up to 25 years old. So it's not like they walked into "juvey" and asked a bunch of high school seniors. And prison is where criminals learn to be contributing members of society. Sooo, the one's who volunteered did so to help their fellow man, and not to get famous. Thirdly, they are described as inmates, not convicted felons. (Hasn't anyone ever heard of "road crews" that go out and cleanup small communities?)

The inmate wildland fire crews have a reputation for being some of the hardest-working ones, and the wildland firefighter job is one of the best inmate jobs. I also wonder about the ineligibility for hire after release. It's true that first responders have a high bar for integrity and felons typically won't be considered for structural firefighter and EMS jobs due to the nature of the work, assisting folks who are often extremely vulnerable & going into homes and businesses when the owners are absent or incapacitated. Can't trust someone who's a convicted predator, whether burglary or violence, with that kind of access and temptation. However, we like to joke that wildland firefighting is just landscaping with a sense of urgency near fire. I can only think of a few crimes that should disqualify ex-cons from being wildland firefighters. It's respectable, hard work, and there are only a few assignments which would require a level of trust that society can't grant them anymore.

Are they using inmates to fight fires because they're too cheap to hire more firefighters? And before anybody starts parroting the "don't do the crime if you can't do the time" bromide, let me remind you that most people behind bars are there for a) nonviolent misdemeanors, b) not being able to pay bail, or c) being coerced into pleading guilty to a crime they didn't even commit. Yes, some people belong in prisons - but our "great" nation accounts for 25% of all inmates, and that is just plain sick.

Not a case of too cheap to hire more firefighters. A case of not being able to find more firefighters. Currently, there are Australian volunteer firefighters in California.

i wish prices on everything would lower. So the low wages could cover the cost of living. Rather then raising wages, forcing companies to raise prices to compansate their desired level of income and employees again demanding hire wages to buy the hire priced goods. I try to be a hard worker and fair, but no company will hire me. They fear that if i have seizures on the job. It would cost them to much money. after 2 major brain surgeries at 5 and 8 years old. I have almost half a mind. So when i say i have half a mind to think their is something wrong. I mean it litterally.

This is why I stopped working for "entrepreneurs". They act like treating your body like s**t and working yourself into an early grave and never seeing your friends and family is a badge of honour, and that placing limits on how much you're willing to work for less than minimum wage is shameful.

The British Army is one of the very few Armies in the World that still recruits child soldiers. The UK is one of only 19 countries worldwide to recruit 16-year-olds. Other countries that do so include North Korea, Iran and Syria. No other EU or Nato member state recruits 16-year-olds. Some 2,250 minors were recruited into the armed forces in the past 12 months. The army alone enlisted 1,000 16-year-olds. This makes 16-year-olds the single biggest age group entering the army. The army states that it uses the recruitment of minors as “an opportunity to mitigate standard entry shortfalls, particularly for the infantry”. This is worrying because the infantry has the highest fatality and injury rate of any branch of the armed forces. Child Soldiers International has found that soldiers who enlisted at 16 were twice as likely to die in Afghanistan as those who enlisted aged 18 or above

i had them messaging me on facebook when i was 16 i think to talk about all the benefits i could get by joining the youth training programs to help me grow as an individual. Help me get started for college and be ready to enlist when i turned 18. I spent 20 minutes typing out a detailed paragraph about my medical and how dangers my mother and others who had seen my seizures made them sound to be and the danger and risk i would be to the other troops on the field of battle if the gun powder set my reflex seizures off. The recruiter said he would talk to me later and then some time later. The account either blocked me or was deleted and i have never gotten anything related to joining the army: in the mail, email or as advertisements on facebook or in messages since.

You use it until it dies. If it breaks too soon, then it's a s**t brand and you should never buy it again.

That whole Tiny house movement says otherwise. I personally find my happiness in working at a library, volunteering at another library to teach old folks how to use their computers or other devices and I also volunteer at Habitat for Humanity. Any time left over I borrow museum passes from the library and go out and do something new. Eg. Last weekend: Friday Finished work and went to a wedding shower, Saturday: taught some old folks computers for 2h then went to a baby shower, then I worked on a puzzle while watching the Breakfast Club. Sunday, volunteered at Habitat for 5h then I went to Defenbunker, which is a gigantic bomb shelter built in the cold war that is now a museum. Pretty darn cool and very dissociating. It's like being in a different world or being back in time. I spend my money on gas and my entry to these places if I can't get in for free. The showers were kind of unusual, usually I'd be reading, geocaching or researching something new that's caught me eye.

Except there's no such thing as "gold platinum" or "gold diamonds" (and making silverware out of gold is impractical at best), so the logical interpretation of this is that gold is merely one of the items on the list, separate from "teeth". It was probably just sloppy design, but the implication is definitely that they buy teeth, gold or not.

HERES A TIP ABOUT DENTAL GOLD! I'm a Jeweler and my dentist stepfather would give me the teeth with gold crowns that people had extracted and left at the office ( I would add them to my scrap gold for the refinery) the fillings aren't super high percentage of gold ( and they're sometimes alloyed with weird stuff that's not good for jewelry) so it's not like you can just melt it down and make a ring ...BUT, omg it's GOLD! Leaving it behind at the dentist is like leaving extra money for them as a tip. So....ask for your gold fillings/crowns if you ever have them extracted. You can cash them in at most gold buyers- and treat yourself to a nice dinner :-)

I worked as a baker and had to get up at 2-3am every morning. How else do you expect to get your freshly baked bread for breakfast?! It’s part of the job, it’s always been like that. We start earlier and we finish our days earlier for that exact reason.

Throughout all of history bakers have had to get up hours before sunrise simply because the ovens made the shop (or their home; many bakers had an oven in their house for the whole village to use) too hot as the day went on. That's all it is.

Uh, bakers and any other food-making person are up before everyone else. If they weren't, no one could go and get their donut and coffee in the drive-through at 6 AM

Right? I had my own shopping cart & I LOVED trips to the store! I learned new words from labels & how to add the prices. And price compare. Everyone will become a consumer at some point, why not teach them how to be good ones?

I actually love them, when I was younger I wanted to be just like my mum and feel all grown up and cool so i got to push one around while shopping, and i chased my siblings with it to annoy them. good times

First of all, kids want to copy what they see their parents doing and this gives them the ability to do so. Second, teaching them what they'll be doing on their own in 20 years isn't a bad thing. This is one of the dumbest things on this list

Instead we should be teaching kids to grow their own food and craft their own stuff, right?

My only issue with these was when my kid would want to use them and he would run it over my feet because he wanted to tell me something up close. Sadly those days are gone. Now I have to worry about him driving a real car....getting his license this year!

WHY WHY WHY does this have no upvotes? I saw these at Kroger the other day, and they're a very cute and clever addition! Let the kids have fun with their carts, I know I did when I was little.

It is cute! I would guess that it doesn't have a lot of upvotes because it's a poor example of dystopia. :)

This is a good thing. You have no idea how many meltdowns my mom had to suffer with because i wanted to push the buggy.
