Thus is actually what government is supposed to be for. An entity of power that represents our interest. For example, President Roosevelt literally split companies apart because they held too much power. Obviously, it would be naive to expect our current government to do this in the US, but we can change who is in government over time. For example don't vote for anyone running under the DNC or GOP. Neither have your interest in mind because they have their own interest, which are more important to them, their people staying in power. Put people into power whose only interest are ours, and we will get to a better place. As it stands, we keep (re)electing people who clearly are running for their party, not their constituents, so their party's interest is what will be represented.

We can start by repealing Citizens United and severely restricting lobbying, or doing away with it entirely, so corporations can no longer so easily buy politicians.

There is no perfect solution. As consumers we could do more research and be less greedy in what WE think we need to have, too. We enable our own abusers. That said...we ARE over charged and gouged for necessities we can't live without. THEN we should eat the rich as suggested earlier...

Legislate against the "trickle down" economic policies implemented by every Republican president and legislature since Reagan, for starters. These policies were never intended to help working classes, but to make the wealthy wealthier. They just slapped an appealing title and premise on it to make voters think it was for them, but the entire premise was a lie.

I hate it when some goddamned entitled and delusional MBA sticks their f*****g filthy nose into social programs and services and tries to equate them with business. Business principles only apply to for profit business. They do not apply to anything that is not for profit, such as education and social safety net programs—-things a normal person would NEVER want to be run on such cold, cruel, and inhumane principles as those for the dog eat dog business world. Social programs and services should be run on strictly ethical principles, something f*****g MBAs are not taught.

Public run services/institutions shouldn't be run by "business principles", yes there should be some financial principles behind them to minimize unnecessary spending but not "business principles".

In Ontario the my school doesn't even get enough money to fix the washrooms because of tax cuts.

The core principle of any business is the Profit Motive - "Provide the lowesr possible value for the highest attainable price." Is that how you run a school?

There's no such thing as 'basic business principles' when applied to health or education. They're doing that here in NZ. It is not working.

Teachers in Canada where i live are very well paid, have great benefits and an indexed pension all for working 10 months per year .
