In The Last Airbender, The Movie Starts
Help! I've never seen this movie and I can't figure out what's wrong.
Load More Replies...The movie, apparently. I never saw it either, but it’s not the first time i hear that it shouldn’t have been made.
Load More Replies...It’s a live action adaptation of an animated show. Let’s just say that the movie….. did not live up to the series at all. And I’m putting it very, v e r y, lightly.
Load More Replies...I'm Watching Doctor Strange And I Caught A Crew Member Literally In Plain Sight 😂
Never understood why they don't just put the crew in costumes fitting the movie to avoid such mistakes. Like in Pitates of the Caribbean dressing crew up in pirates would avoid seeing a guy with a cowboy hat.
Well, usually, someone's there whose entire job is to spot such mistakes... In scenes like the above, a costume wouldn't help, since there's a set amount of people supposed to be running around in the sanctum, and another person might have changed things a lot - movie sinners would THEN ask "what the heck happened to guy number 4? Why didn't he help more? Did he die? Is he hiding in the walls?"... It's a mistake, they can't win.
Load More Replies...Look, the Sanctum Sanctorum can't contain all of the dimension-breaking chads from leaking through. Some of them fall through the cracks eventually.
In the mall chase scene in Shazam, a ton of crew were visible in the shot. In post, the director CGI'd shopping bags and a mop bucket to make them look like shoppers and custodial staff.
In The Movie "Leap" (2017), Taking Place In 19th Century France, You Catch Views Of The Statue Of Liberty Being Built. The Film Depicts The Color Being What You'd See Today But The Original Color Was In Fact Bronze
Never heard of it! Adding it to the watch list :)
Load More Replies...It possibly was thought it wouldn't be "recognizable" if it was accurately colored. Things like this sometimes are left the way peoole know them today because it's more comfortable to them.
Same in nz... i was so confused until i saw this comment. I wonder why they changed the name?
Load More Replies...Making a movie or a TV show is no easy feat. In fact, it’s a huge undertaking that takes time, money, cooperation, meticulous planning, and a careful knack for detail. From the screenwriter who molds the initial idea to the actors who bring the message to life, countless people are involved in the process. But as you can see in this list, even the most detailed preparations sometimes can't spare motion pictures from a fair share of cinematic blunders and gaffes.
To learn more about movie mistakes, the reasons behind them, and how studios try to get away with them, we reached out to Michael W. Boyce, Ph.D., a host of a podcast called Geek 4 that’s all about fans, fandom, and fan cultures. Being a Professor of English and Film Studies at Booth University College in Winnipeg, Canada, he explained that filmmakers leave these goof-ups in their work mainly due to financial reasons.
"Movies are incredibly expensive to make, and are sometimes shot in ways to suit actors’ schedules so making sure every detail is consistent is really hard," Boyce told Bored Panda.
In Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990), There Is A Shot Where You Can See The Actor's Mouth Inside Of The Suit
Looks like an alien inside a ninja turtle... never thought of ninja turtles as creepy... until today
Looks like that one snap filter where it brings the eyes and mouth together and cuts the nose. The little white things look like a black eye reflection.
Load More Replies...If you think, this is creepy, google for :Cymothoa exigua (Tongue-eating louse)
Load More Replies...In The Lion King (2019), Baby Pumbaa Looks Nothing Like A Warthog Piglet
Wait...was he ID'd in the movie as baby Puumba? If he was, then how did he end up on the other side of the dry valley? Not /s, truly asking.
Live Action 101 Dalmatians, Pongo Who Is About To Father 15 Puppies Is Played By A Neutered Dog
Guessing this was an intentional mistake... otherwise I'm sure there would be a million little kids asking about what the balls on the back of the dog were 🤣 parents don't want that coming up 🙄
That’s my babysitting nightmare, that the kids will ask about something like that, like what would the parent want me to say? A kid was climbing over a gate to get into his backyard and I got over one leg at a time and he said, “umm… won’t that hurt your, you know, penis?” I didn’t say anything it was fine
Load More Replies...Ohhhh i see a divorce coming up..... " How can you be pregnant Karen??? I did a vasectomy 5 years a go "
I THINK, though I'm not from the medical field, that cutting off the balls might have a different longtime result than a vasectomy, which has been known to be reversed when the tubes grow back together...
Load More Replies...Years ago my eldest daughter had a friend who's dog was castrated and had a collar on. My daughter was curious and asked why and was told. After that for about the next two years or so every dog she saw she go under it to check if it had balls and she would be all excited and say I can't see anything so how can I tell if it's a boy or girl? Embarrassing 😊
"At times, shots in the same scene are filmed months apart. While there are people whose job it is to ensure continuity, mistakes happen: a child wears a digital watch in a crowd scene (Glory), an extra’s broom doesn’t touch the ground (Casino Royale), or, and one that became worked into cannon, a stormtrooper bumps his head (Star Wars: A New Hope)," the professor added.
Ad Astra (2019) Brad Pitt Is Speaking To His Father In Zero Gravity, And A Tear Rolls Down His Cheek As If He Was In A Gravity Environment
A tear WOULD roll down his face -- it couldn't just fly up out of his eye. Don't forget surface tension of the tear against his skin.
This is true. Tears are sticky enough for this to happen.

Show (9-1-1 S3-Ep3) This Guy Got His Arm Amputated But They Forgot To Edit It Out Of This Shot
They must have redone it, I just checked the scene and it's been fixed.
That doesn't look like 9-1-1. Wrong cast, unless there is more than one show by that name.
It is 9-1-1. Just a shot without the main cast.
Load More Replies...It looks like movies and TV shows are absolutely rife with these mishaps, otherwise known as "continuity errors" — something that breaks the audience’s attention by shattering the illusion that the movie picture is seamless. Like this example where Julia Roberts eats a pancake in one scene, and a croissant in the next. When viewers take notice of these mistakes, they may feel confused and get distracted from the story itself.
"The editor’s job is to make sure that any breaks in continuity are invisible enough that they do not disturb the audience’s involvement in the story," Norman Hollyn, a professor of cinematic arts at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, told Inside Science. "We use many different techniques to disguise these mismatches and distractions and we use the fact that, like magic, audiences tend to be distracted by differences in size, color and movement."

I Can't Believe I Never Noticed This, But In "Independence Day" (1996) When David Has A Drunken Fit About Using Nukes, He Turns Over A Garbage Can Belonging To The Art Department
That is hysterical. Who is to say Area 51 doesn't HAVE an art department.
It's how they make the fake films of aliens to leak to the public :P

So when observant cinema detectives note and expose the slip-ups that creators hoped would go unnoticed, it brings them a sense of pleasure. "I think it’s a matter of rewarding people for spotting something that other people don’t notice," Boyce told us.
"When we notice that someone’s tie changes color, or someone’s drinking glass magically refills between shots, we’ve caught something we’re not meant to notice and which most people aren’t aware of," he added. "I think some people enjoy that kind of secret knowledge, whether to feel like they’re a better audience member than for noticing the minutia of a scene or that they’re a more avid fan of a film."
Fake Bookshelf In The Last Crusade
I feel this is a very age defining moment for films. If you go back for instance, to when there were stage sets indoors and everything was fake (bushes, trees, etc), it distracts people today because they see them as fake. Back then it was very normal and they simply didn't notice these things.
You can see that there is a black backing and the book spines are just glued onto it. The top of the blue book right under his left ear is casting a shadow on the black backing. The gold horizontal books on the right side, the right end of them is also casting a shadow on the black background. It looks like it is made of fabric, like felt, and that is probably because it won't reflect light.

Interestingly, a study conducted by researchers from the University of Tokyo, Japan, found that synchronized blinking stops viewers from missing the action. It turns out that we subconsciously time our blinks while watching films to ensure we won’t miss anything important. Because of that, moviegoers even tend to blink in unison.
Tamani Nakano, the co-author of the study, told NewScientist that the flow of visual information to the brain is halted by up to 450 milliseconds with every blink, and we lose up to 6 seconds of information every minute. In their experiment, volunteers either watched a silent comedy with a strong narrative, a movie with no narrative, or listened to an audiobook. Then they measured whether the volunteers’ eye blinks happened at the same time. They found that in some cases, individuals will blink simultaneously while watching the same film.
"We all commonly find implicit breaks for blinking while viewing a video story," Nakano said. "The blinks may form one external manifestation of that, which may provide a window into understanding what people are thinking when they watch a movie."
In The Last Of The Mohicans (1992) You Can See The Crew's Baseball Caps And Megaphone
In The Movie The Wizard Of Oz (1939) In One Shot You Can See That Dorthey Isn't Wearing Her Ruby Red Slippers When She And The Scarecrow Are Trying To Get Apples
fun fact - the slippers were silver in the book, but they made them red in the movie because they thought it would look better in technicolor.
Another fun fact - the Ruby slippers are under copyright, so the slippers reverted back to silver for the Wicked musical.

However, even if we try our best to pick up every detail on the screen, mistakes sometimes slip through our eyes. Sometimes because our attention is focused on making sense of the things we are watching at the moment. But other times, it’s because of the way a movie or a TV show is shot and cut. When asked whether filmmakers try to distract us from these flaws, Boyce said, "I am sure that there are some mistakes left in because filmmakers assume the action of the scene will distract the audience from the mistake."
"In Hitchcock’s North by Northwest, a child extra covers his ears before a gun goes off in a busy restaurant. Everything happens so quickly, only the most eagle-eyed viewers would have caught it on a first screening."

Yeah that's not bad, it's not like they didn't HAVE helicopters in the 70s.
This one is iffy. Its obviously the film chopter, but is it ment to be portraying that? To me it illustrates extra steps of isolation and dispear. Only choppers can come get you now, kinda feeling. Had this discussion with my father every time he put it onwhen i was a kid. He hated "the mistake" , in my mind it was left on purpuse

Looking for blunders in your favorite movies or shows can even become an entertaining activity to do with friends or family. So if you are interested in trying to spot these types of errors, Professor Boyce was kind enough to share a few suggestions: "Watch for drinking glasses and food. The volume of liquid in a glass and the amount of food on a plate are really hard to match perfectly shot to shot. Clothing is also a common source of errors – ties change color, sweaters appear and disappear."
"But mostly, watch extras and background actors. They’re not supposed to be the focus of a particular scene and their mistakes are often left in films because they’re not the focus and it’s too expensive to reshoot a crowd because one person did something wrong," Boyce concluded.

Live Streaming Video In Oceans 8 Has Jpeg As Extension
Just a technical note - the extension is only an advice for OS to know how to handle the file. It’s perfectly possible to have movie file with wrong extension (even jpeg). It won’t open video player on double click, but when chosing the video player to open this file, it will play without any problems.
That isn't entirely a problem. MJPEG (motion-jpeg) is a thing. It's the file extension for the direct streams from my security cameras.

In Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Bucky’s Biography States He Was Born In 1916, But The Bottom Of His Bio Says He Was Born In 1917
Lol, that mistake is true to life. I've worked in museums for a long time and dates, especially death and birth dates can have more than one year associated with them. Like the military record says 1950 but the famly bible says 1952. Its up to the research historians to decide which date is correct or if it needs to be hyphen. BUT in big exsibits with lots of verbiage there will be inevitably be at least one date mistake or name spelling error or pixelated picture that sneaks through all the reviews and is pointed out by a member of the public after it opens. Uesly pointed out by a middle or high school teacher.

when he sinks into the molten steel you can see it's a stunt double too
Even at his best, director Peter Hyams assumed viewers were blind; in the climactic shootout in Running Scared (1986), Gregory Hines is briefly stunt-doubled by a white guy wearing a black knit cap, and Michael Douglas' stand-in while sliding down a chute in The Star Chamber (1983) is even more in-your-face obvious.
My favorite obviously fake stunt double is the Matlock movie where the stunt double is wearing an illfiting suit and a really bad wig.

This is because the aspect ratio for TV back when the show aired was smaller than it is on streaming services. You'll also see the actors stand-ins a lot of the time too.
I read recently that shows were shot for the smaller tv screens and now that we're all watching on longer screens, it's opened up footage that was originally never meant to be seen. It was cropped. So... mistake? Meh. It was edited out and the change in technology got it cropped back in.
How is that I have seen this show at least 45 times and I have never noticed this!
You probably weren't watching the widescreen version - there are also loads of shots that show stand ins instead of the actors.

In “Once Upon A Time In Hollywood” (2019), Cliff Booth’s Rear-View Mirror Appears And Disappears
Rear view mirrors and headrest are often removed for interior shots. (The can block the shots of the actors faces.)

I don't think most people are, it's definitely a history buff who knew and pointed it out. This is true of almost every pair of eyeglasses onscreen. I don't think I have ever seen prescription glasses on an actor. (That doesn't mean it hasn't occurred, only that I have never seen it, and I always look )
umm how do you tell? Maybe her eyes only need a -25 or -0.5 magnification, in which case the lens will be thin
I also thought maybe very small astigmatism? But it still is problematic as her glasses are very big and with that comes thicker glass at the edges and more distortion (I have -12). (oh and you probably meant -0.25 instead of 25 😉). And with -0.25 you would not have to wear glasses all day, especially children (and that comes from my doct)

Well, the Djinni in Aladdin constantly makes references to 20th century pop culture, which sparked a conspiracy theory that Agrabah actually is a country in a distant dystopian future. Maybe Beauty & the Beast's France is in that same timeline.

Another thing about the Two Towers, Legolas says "The Uruks turn Northeast.." and this is actually confirmed by Tolkien's maps. However, Legolas later says "A red sun rises. Blood has been spilled this night" while chasing the same band of Uruk-Hai. When he says this line, he turns around to face the sunrise. However, the sun rises in the East, so to turn around, the 3 hunters would have had to have been traveling west, or away from the Uruk-Hai and Merry and Pippin.
So long as we're mentioning mistakes, I would like to point out that not one instance of Hollywood CPR is accurate... if your arms aren't straight and you're not coming down like an out-of-breath-freight-train, nobody's actually "coming back to life". Also, you don't "shock" a "flat line" to "bring them back to life" either. Sure hope nobody's replicating tv form and hoping it will work...
Well, if you did "real" CPR on your fellow actor, you'd likely break a rib or two. Frowned upon.
