Summer vacations are all about sun, sea, and sand. Wouldn’t you agree? Unfortunately for some of us, getting to the seaside can be one difficult task because things keep getting in our way. Maybe your car just broke down. Perhaps your partner got the chickenpox. Or maybe you live so far away from the beautiful beaches that it would take you a solid week to get there.

Here’s a bit of good news — you can have your very own personal beach right in your backyard. Founder of the Zydeco Construction company, Eric White builds private swimming ponds that look like they came from the pages of an exotic travel guide.

The exterior construction company is based in Maurepas, Louisiana, and specializes in making unique-looking beaches that cost about as much like a swimming pool construction — roughly 20,000 dollars. This awesome backyard idea is sure to have the neighbors raising an eyebrow or two.

White told USA Today’s The Daily Advertiser that “it has always been a dream of mine to do these different things. I am all about figuring out a way to make things happen. I can look at any situation and come up with a way to fix it. I like to stay in the market for things that most companies don’t offer, especially custom backyard landscaping ideas.”

According to White, he had a very rough life. He said he was “homeless at 15 for about eight months” because he had “dropped out of school in the ninth grade and only had a second-grade reading skill.” Fortunately, after changing a few jobs at construction sites, he became team manager at a construction company and eventually went on to found his own company, Cool Pools, which he sold. Now, he’s the founder of Zydeco Construction that makes these awesome oasis-like pools.

This summer has been way hotter than usual, with Europeans practically melting under the blazing sun. From London to Paris, everyone’s health is in danger and people have been asking. What. In. The. World. Is. Going. On.

It’s more important now than ever to know what to do in such intense temperatures, and how to stay cool to survive. Probe Around The Globe suggests that you stay inside during the hottest hours of the day, stay well hydrated (avoid alcohol and drink plenty of water), and refresh yourself by splashing yourself with water. But avoid applying ice-cold water or an ice pack because your body will respond by conserving heat.

You should also wear thin clothes, wear a hat, try to avoid crowded metropolitan areas. If all else fails, just remember — you can always opt for a private oasis and personal piece of paradise in your backyard.

Some people loved the idea of a personal beach, while others thought it was too much of a hassle

Turn your backyard into a beach? Frankly, if I had that kind of disposable income I would rather buy property in Central America and turn a beach into my backyard.

Probably not much as this won't be a huge seller. It looks pretty, but you have 2 major issues 1: finding people with the actual room to fit a personal oasis. 2: finding people with that much cash on hand (to purchase AND don't forget that big pile of lovely maintenance costs each year!).
