“The End Of The Party”: Woman Warns Her Nephew Not To Feed The Dog, He Ignores It And It Backfires
When the sweetest puppy eyes are staring at you, how can you resist slipping them a little treat?
That’s probably what this teen thought when he decided to sneak his aunt’s dog some food to bond with him. The only problem? The entire family had been clearly told not to feed the dog because he has a sensitive stomach.
So, when the dog inevitably had an accident—right on the teen’s jacket—the aunt refused to replace it, saying it was his own fault. But now the teen is demanding £150 for a new one.
Does he deserve it? Read below and decide.

Why you shouldn’t share what’s on your plate with your dog
Saying no to your dog can feel heartbreaking, especially when they linger by your side hoping for a taste of what you’re eating. But as dog owners, we do it because we know not everything they want is good for them.
Aside from individual dietary needs like in Pickles’ case, letting your dog sneak food off your plate isn’t a habit you want to encourage. According to PetMD, each time you give in, you’re essentially training your dog to expect it—or rather, they’re training you.
How does this happen?
Each time we give in to a dog begging for food, we show them that this behavior works. A nudge earns a scratch, a bark gets them outside, and a whine leads to a treat. Sharing bites from our plate or offering them food outside their regular diet only strengthens this habit.
Before long, your dog will expect food whenever you’re eating, cooking, or even just holding a snack. They might whine, hover, stare, or jump, hoping for a taste. And the moment you give in to keep them quiet, it cements the behavior further.
Dogs, much like children, quickly figure out that begging (X) leads to getting what they want (Y). Once they’ve learned this, it’s not easy to undo, which is why it’s best to avoid starting the habit in the first place.
Beyond behavior, feeding dogs human food can lead to overfeeding and weight gain, which comes with its own health risks. Maintaining a healthy weight helps dogs avoid joint and mobility issues, heart disease, breathing problems, and liver complications—just like it does for humans.
Plus, if your dog gets used to those tasty scraps, they may start turning up their nose at their regular food, becoming a picky eater. Why would they settle for kibble when they know there’s something better on your plate?
Finally, remember that many human foods are toxic to dogs. Foods like avocados, grapes, cherries, caffeine, chocolate, and ice cream can seriously harm your pet. Even if your dog doesn’t have specific dietary restrictions, always double-check before sharing a snack. It’s one of the best ways to keep your dog healthy and safe.
