Have you ever been to a place and it immediately felt like home? Wherever life takes me, I always want to come back to Nyack, New York. The place where I had my first art exhibit, where I sold my first painting, where individuality is welcomed and where an awkward art student felt accepted. This little town on the Hudson River is diverse, entertaining and welcoming, with even a touch of romance.
From my first step, I liked how this town looks, how it smells and how it sounds. Art runs through its veins and the celebration of the creative spirit is constant. The music-filled streets are dotted with art galleries, bespoke shops and unique architecture calling for attention. You could get high on the arts in Nyack.
I never realized how much of an impact this little town had on me until I decided to create a painting series of a few of my favorite landmarks. I don’t think I can fit all of my feelings onto these canvases but that shy, insecure art student will always be grateful for a community which made her feel at home.
