People Rant About How Ridiculous MLMs And Pyramid Schemes Became In These 50 Posts (New Pics)
Our feeds are filled with people flashing their wealth, while telling us how little they had to do to get there. We see fancy cars, idyllic destinations and double-storey homes, all allegedly acquired after someone ditched their 9-5 in exchange for a life of financial freedom.
These Boss Babes and Bros brag about their passive incomes, inviting us to join them on the journey. "Work from anywhere. Get paid daily. No experience required," they say. But often, a closer look reveals that things aren't always as they seem. Many of these 'entrepreneurs' aren't coining it. They're caught up in multi-level marketing (MLM) or pyramid schemes akin to a cult. Some are selling the most bizarre things, like 'magic water' that can be used as a disinfectant. Yes, really.
There's an entire online community in the business of roasting MLMs. Anti-MLM was founded to stop MLMs from "draining your friends dry." The page warns that MLM participants either build the pyramid taller or get squashed by it. We've put together a list of posts that you should probably scroll through before considering that tempting and easy way to make a living.

Rolled My Eyes So Hard I Caught A Glimpse Of My Brain
This Was Not A Joke Post
Be your own boss, work from anywhere in the world, choose your own hours and watch the money come rolling in. I mean, why wouldn't you?
On the surface, it might seem like a dream but you probably aren't being sold the full and true picture. Call them multi-level marketing (MLM), network marketing, or direct marketing businesses, at their core they involve selling products to family and friends, and recruiting other people to do the same.
The U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) warns that some MLMs are actually illegal pyramid schemes.

Is that in the fake-gold-plated White House? There are a LOT of pyramid schemes going on there.
Bravenly Uplines: “You've Just Got To Power Through The Vomiting!”
Thinking about this further, they’ré blaming the companies for their troubles, but they’re the fools who heard the pitch, didn’t bother to minimally investigate the claims (“Do I need to ingest gold to be healthy?”), and decided they needed the stupid stuff. This is what happens when people hear some goofy offer for nonsense, and despite what their doctors tell them, decide to spend their money on it. Why listen to doctors when you can listen to some hair stylist sitting in her car with her phone and her three-inch nails giving you medical advice for free? While the companies are legitimately terrible, you’ve got a brain (well, most of you do), so USE IT! You also have access to ALL the information in the entire world; stop reading and watching idiots trying to rob you of your hard-earned money, and visit AUTHENTIC, authoritative sites, and not average fools pushing something on Facebook. If you check nothing else, at least type the company name into Snopes. It’s better than nothing, and could save your money and your HEALTH. I’m getting angrier the more I think about this nonsense, and am thinking it’s culling the herd, and maybe these poisonous products full of toxins are what we need to smarten up the species. 😞 They seem like an IQ test.
The FTC's site explains that MLM companies sell their products or services through person-to-person sales. So if or when you join one, you'll be selling something directly to other people, either from your home, at customer’s home, or online. Hence the "work from anywhere."
Your new title, apart from Boss Babe, would typically be independent “distributor,” “participant,” or “contractor.” According the the FTC, most MLMs say you can make money two ways: By selling the MLM’s products yourself to “retail” customers who are not involved in the MLM; or by recruiting new distributors and earning commissions based on what they buy and their sales to retail customers.

Your End Of The Month Reminder That When You Fail At Mlm, It's All Your Fault
"If the MLM is not a pyramid scheme, it will pay you based on your sales to retail customers, without having to recruit new distributors," notes the FTC.
However, the commission warns that it's often not as lucrative as many people have been led to believe. "Most people who join legitimate MLMs make little or no money. Some of them lose money," it warns. "In some cases, people believe they’ve joined a legitimate MLM, but it turns out to be an illegal pyramid scheme that steals everything they invest and leaves them deeply in debt."

Thank God For The Shampoo Bizz!
Oh My Goodness. Someone Is Actually Recruiting Mlms For A Party With Their Friends. Yikes!
The FTC bluntly calls pyramid schemes flat-out scams, and warns that they can look remarkably like legitimate MLM business opportunities, selling actual products. Perhaps ones you've heard of, or something more strange, like "magic water."
However, that catch is that if you become a boss babe distributor for a pyramid scheme, it can cost you and your recruits (these are often your family and friends) a lot of time and money that you will never get back.

Always Saying The Quiet Parts Out Loud…. Also She’s The One Who Was Recorded Telling Down Lines To Change One Number In The Social Security Number To Create New Accounts And To Give Downlines Money To Buy Product To Keep Rank…
We've seen the posts and pitches online. "Change your life. Quit your job. Get rich quick." It's a blatant lie, and that's because your income is based on how many people you recruit, not how much product you sell.
"Pyramid schemes are set up to encourage everyone to keep recruiting people to keep a constant stream of new distributors — and their money — flowing into the business," say the FTC's experts.
It's also not unusual for you to have to spend money to make money. In other words, some pyramid schemes will encourage or require you to buy stock at regular intervals, even if you already have inventory than you can use or sell.
One More Thing!
Let me guess, she tried treating infection with, oh I don't know, essential oils or other "natural" cures. Hope she at least has real health insurance to pay for this bout of stupidity.

Honestly, it’s not even the scamming that gets me. I understand how people are fooled out of ignorance and desperation into these pyramid schemes. What grinds my gears is how they flex so much and passive aggressively (or just aggressively) constantly try to make it seem like they’re better than everyone.
For $60k It Can Be Yours!
But wait, there's more...
"You may even have to buy products before you’re eligible to be paid or get certain bonuses. You also may have to pay repeated fees for other items, like training sessions or expensive marketing materials," warns the FTC. "In addition, the company may say you can earn lavish rewards, like prizes, bonuses, exotic vacations, and luxury cars."
If you read the fine print, you'll probably first have to meet certain product purchase, recruitment, training, or other goals to qualify for the rewards. And they don't make it easy to achieve.

So she’s not using actual products which work, and instead is just using water? Water which germs grow in? She won’t even use isopropyl alcohol? Some people and their irrational aversions to what they call “chemicals” deserve what they get, but their kids don’t. Dropping the kid’s binky, which fell into the toilet, into water (a chemical) isn’t gonna get the feces off unless the water’s boiling and it’s in there a good fifteen minutes or so. Merely rinsing it won’t do anything. I’m also trying not to imagine their gnarly wounds she cleans with just water. People need basic introductions to chemistry, which are free online at universities around the country (check out Khan Academy, where you can take courses at places like Harvard and Oxford for free!) so they’ll stop being scared of what they call “toxins,” and won’t buy stupid things like water for sanitation. I just don’t understand why they’ll listen to the charlatan in a filthy trailer and not actual scientists who genuinely KNOW THINGS.
Before you fall for the hype, end up running out of money, are forced to quit, or worst, lose everything you invested, you need to be aware of the following red flags:
- Promoters who make extravagant promises, telling you that you'll earn A LOT of money.
- Promoters who insist that recruiting new distributors for your sales network is the fastest way up the food chain. You should be able to make money just by selling a product.
- Promoters who pressure you and want you to sign up immediately, without properly researching the company.

Good Businesswoman, But She Didn't Even Recruit Her Team
This American woman recruited someone in Germany. That German then recruited ANOTHER German, who was then able to recruit 10,900 people during the initial launch into the country.
This delusional hun thinks she somehow did something to cause this chain of events to happen.
And that she EARNED it.
She can't even speak German. She can't train or coach any of them.
She just got lucky.

If you still decide to join an MLM after scrolling through this list, know that success is not guaranteed. In fact, research shows that a whopping 95% of network marketers or multi-level marketing recruits fail. But this isn't something the company is going to broadcast.
"The people that do succeed are in the minority. When you attend MLM meetings, the success of the top 2% sales people are generally highlighted," explains the Moneyweb site. "The significant failure rate of their salespeople is generally overlooked because it is built into the business model. Designing a business plan with a 95% failure rate and where successful people are the proven exception is counter-intuitive."
This Just Showed Up On My Feed
Long time ago, a good friend of mine asked me a favor: Could his daughter practice her sales and marketing skills on me, as she was just starting out? I was young and thought “Sure! Why not?” as it didn’t do any harm, and I wanted to curry favor with my friend. I’m only now learning that Cutco is/was an MLM; I HAD to buy the knives to get her the hell out of my apartment! It was either that or punch her in the face, and I didn’t want to go to jail. At least they were crazy-sharp; they cut through steaks with no effort at all, but then I lost ‘em in a move. 😕 Jesus; that girl was RABID, and I got a little afraid of her. My friend then tried kissing me after we went to dinner, and ooked me out so badly I nearly threw up my sushi, and I dropped him as a friend, and reading this, I’m now angrier than I was about the whole thing. 🤬
