The Alpstein mountains located in eastern Switzerland are considered one of the most beautiful parts of the Alps. Their unique peaks and beautiful villages make it a perfect place to visit and hike.

Last autumn I wanted to explore and photograph this wonderful region. With my team we arrived in Ebenalp and started to climb on top of famous peak Schafler. During all day we’ve been literally swimming in the dense fog. Passing one of the most beautiful places in Europe – the mountain guesthouse Aescher, we’ve almost lost our hope for good views this afternoon. We’ve been even debating about coming down to the schelter but finally decided to go ahead. And it was definitely the best decision.

Couple of meters from the summit of Schafler the clouds have just went down with a strong wind and settled in the valleys around us. It felt like we made it to heaven. It was one of the most beautiful sunsets I’ve ever seen. As Lana Del Rey says “paradise is a hell colored flame sky” and so it truly was.

    WOW! This looks like it is 'other worldly'... taken on another planet. Beautiful but in some ways frightening. I'm afraid of heights and looking at the mountain guesthouse Aescher made me feel a little queasy. That's how great your photos are!! Thank you for sharing.
