It is a deeply satisfying feeling when you see two things perfectly fit together. It scratches that weird itch many of us have for order, symmetry, and neatness. We’re not the only ones who think so!

The ‘Perfect Fit’ subreddit is home to countless photos of things that (yup, you guessed it!) fit into each other in a very visually appealing and aesthetic way. It is a massive online group, housing nearly 1.2 million members (or ‘licensed Fitologists’ as they prefer to be called).

Originally inspired by the ‘Things Fitting Perfectly Into Things’ Tumblr blog back in 2013, r/Perfectfit has since then carved out its own unique niche on the internet. Enjoy some of their best featured photos and, as you continue scrolling, don’t forget to upvote your fave pics. Got that unquenchable need for some more perfect fits? We’ve got the remedy right here: check out our previous list about r/Perfectfit right over here.

Scroll down for Bored Panda's interview with u/immski, the subreddit's founder and one of its moderators.

And then there's me, who would prefer hiding presents under towels so we can cut down on wrapping waste and I DIDN'T HAVE TO WRAP IT just for someone else to rip it open twenty seconds after seeing it for the first time.

I have also stopped wrapping presents mostly cause i hate it but also for the waste! Usually i keep the nice bags i had from previous presents and put the gifts in there!

Bored Panda reached out to the r/Perfectfit's moderator team and founder u/immski was kind enough to answer a few of our questions. They said that they believe the reason why the sub's content resonates with so many people is simple. "It’s what I saw in it: extraordinary order in seemingly random and unrelated objects. It’s fun to see a similar relationship between objects that have no reason to fit together except for chance," they said.

According to u/immski, the subreddit has grown, changed, and expanded quite a lot over the years. "The subreddit has grown from something that was a selfish desire (to see more of that type of content) to much more. Now, over a million people have subscribed and more each day."

The founder of r/Perfectfit told Bored Panda that moderating the community itself isn't too difficult. That's because they've got a great team helping them out. "I have some really amazing mods that do a lot of great work. Additionally, my philosophy is that of Reddit originally to allow the users to decide the wheat from the chaff."

The redditor added that they believe a growth-centered mindset is best in life, where we do our best to control what we can and have Lady Luck smile on us from time to time. "A mindset where you attempt to maintain positive control of your circumstances and outcome, yet occasionally favored by chance or providence would be pretty favorable," they mused.

A lot of these photos are the product of very unlikely coincidences. As luck would have it, I recently had a chat about (un)certainty, (un)predictability, and, well, luck with environmental psychologist and well-being consultant Lee Chambers. He explained to Bored Panda earlier via email that uncertainty is an inescapable part of life and we must learn to embrace this fact.

"When we are looking to become more tolerant of uncertainty in life, the first step we need to take is to accept that uncertainty is part of human life. As a species, we love control and predictable patterns, and have a strong response to uncertainty as a potential threat, as this is what has kept us alive as we've evolved," Lee told Bored Panda.

"When it comes to becoming more cultured in dealing with uncertainty, there are a number of things we can practice. The first one is to become compassionate with yourself and express your emotions healthily. Whether we write them down, speak about them or soothe ourselves, expressing our feelings and being kind to ourselves helps to dampen the impact of uncertainty, while suppressing our emotions and feelings, or fighting against them, can make uncertainty feel more intense," the psychologist went into detail about how we should accept and express our feelings instead of repressing them.

This is why everybody wanted me to help them move. On top of which, I always fit the bed in last, so it was the first thing to come out. Why? The reason is because you don't want to have to move it around a bunch of other furniture, and if you get exhausted, you can lie down for awhile.

Practicing acceptance and mindfulness are two other strategies that can help cope with uncertainty in life. "We can practice acceptance that there are things we can't control while looking to take ownership of the things we can. This makes us feel more empowered, and not waste energy trying to control things that are outside of our ability to do so, and also helps us to stop ruminating on past challenges and future worries. We can also practice being mindful in the moment, as we can always control more variables right now."

What’s more, Lee noted that we’re often tougher than we think we are. And by reflecting on our past experiences, we can understand which of our personal strengths help us weather periods of uncertainty. "We are often more resilient than we think we are, and we can learn a lot from how we navigated difficult times and situations when we look back with a desire to learn and grow," he said.

Never ask a kid to tidy closets, you’ll never find anything again! And as they get older you’ll find you’ll end up with less clothes as they will either acquire them or dump them because they know you haven’t worn them in the last couple of years, or as my niece said “you have 4 long black skirts why do you need that many”

Good, healthy habits also empower us when it comes to navigating uncertainty in life. When we’re fit, full, and well-rested, otherwise insurmountable-seeming challenges can suddenly appear very much like they can be overcome.

"We should also look to our routines, things that relax us and things we enjoy. We should make an effort to eat well, sleep optimally, and move our bodies, as they all help us with our emotional balance, optimism, and cognitive ability to navigate uncertainty, giving us the clarity, elevated mood, and energy to get through and be less affected," psychologist Lee told Bored Panda that focusing on the things that we can control can help us deal with the parts of life that we can’t influence (other than with how we react to them).

Days are correct. However, many calendars also start the week on Sunday, not necessarily Monday. Sunday is the actual start of the whole week, while Monday is the start of the business week. So you could see calendars with Sunday or Monday at the far left of the week.

The psychologist suggested that we ought to strive to embrace a flexible, growth mindset instead of a fixed one where we believe we’re ‘always’ (un)lucky.

"As human beings, we have an evolved ability to focus on decisions we have made, including those about ourselves. If we believe we always have good luck, we can start to only focus on the times when things go our way. This can cause us to take unnecessary risks and make poor decisions because we feel we will be lucky while ignoring our mistakes and not being able to learn from them,” Lee pointed out that being overly happy-go-lucky can be a potential minefield.

In years gone by at the uni I went to, some students disassembled a car, took it to the top of the main university building, reassembled it and left it there! Looking at the photo, there is no evidence of any damage to the car, so it might well have been placed like that. Alternatively, all the damage is out of sight and it did in fact drive in there!

Similarly, having a fixed mindset and set of pessimistic beliefs that we’re always unlucky no matter what we do or how hard we try is also problematic. It’s best to balance in between reckless optimism and overly-cautious pessimism.

I let out my mum and grandma, unlocked the boot, pulled in the mirrors and parked. It was an estate car, so I crawled over the seats and out through the boot

Actually, the Hobbit movies feature a lot of story elements that were truly written by Tolkien, but cut from the final version of the book. So you could say they restored lost chapters.

I remember my Canon Color Printer from 2003. That thing was a BEAUTY. I had a fantastic Olympus 1:1 camera and needed a vehicle inspection sticker to keep my car legal to keep driving . I was very past due. By MONTHS. I took a photo of my Father's inspection sticker (front AND back), and printed it out on my CANON. A few months later when I finally got to my mechanics for a sticker they said, "You don't need one!" I peeled it off and those Main-Ahs laughed so hard, they asked to keep my perfect fake sticker! Side note: As a photographer and photochemist, I despise Canon cameras. Unless you are shooting American Football. Otherwise, choose NIKON or FUJI/SONY. Back in the days of film, I could tell what camera someone used just by looking at the negatives.

My aunt had sliding doors in her bedroom for her closet. One of my cousins stuck a penny in one of the finger holes that you use to open it. No matter what we tried we couldn't get the dang gone penny out. It stayed in there for 30 years until they redid their closet and put up new doors.

Michigander! I think the Ford Oval is shaped a bit differently. We have two Ford trucks, and the shape is not quite the same--well bigger because they are trucks, and one of the trucks it's kind of molded in...I went out and checked LOL! Under the full moon!....in the wilds of the West...in the mountains...in the dark...in the night... with all the coyotes yelling. But I didn't take a weapon! Now does that make me a devoted Bored Panderite?

This is particularly impressive given the way they pack so many other boxes!

Hmm...this makes me wonder if I order canvases online if they'll ship in boxes I can then use to mail my finished paintings...

This is so strange...I just got a similar box from Amazon today with nothing but a calendar in it...nice safe packing, and it fit perfectly! Seems a bit much with all that empty space though..I guess it's just me...

Not perfectly as there's about 20cm of space free in the vertical axis. It's taken up about 15% of the volume of the box.

Hope thermal effects of expansion and contraction don't cause a broken window...or if there is an earthquake!
